This was our first escape room and we really didn't know what to expect so let's start with the positives.
We booked the Pirate Ship. The props, story line and set up of the room was really cool. I could tell whoever designed the room put a lot of attention into the details. This had the potential to be a great experience.
Now for the negatives. As others have pointed out in their reviews, you have to enter through Safarination and wait out front in their lobby which does very little for setting the mood of the game. The two staff members that took us back and gave us the briefing on the rules were very friendly but they didn't tell us anything about the story or why we were being locked in the room. (I booked everything for our group and was the only one that had read about the story online) So again, this did very little for setting the mood of the escape room. The props in the room had not been reset very well from the last group that came through so where we were suppose to find clues for combinations on locks, the locks were already open, or things were not secured back the way they were suppose to be and we just opened them ultimately skipping a lot of steps we should have had to take to get out. The game allows you 60 minutes to escape. We made it out in 16 minutes and it wasn't because we were just that good at figuring out the puzzles. All in all it left every single one of us like "What just happened? You mean that's it?"
I wouldn't be opposed to giving it another try. The "idea" was there, but the execution (and may it was just that particular day) was not. A little more professionalism by the staff working the room would make a big difference. read more
