We are escape room enthusiasts and we've been to lots of them in many different states and cities..... Total Escape is our absolute favorite! The rooms are clever, well designed and immersive. Clues are only given if you ask (some places will give you clues even if you don't ask which can be annoying) and the game masters are always friendly and informative. We also like that if you book the room, it closes out so you aren't in with random ppl that you don't know. I love meeting new ppl and socializing but when it comes to escape rooms, it's just not the best idea. The rooms all have a good mixture of different types of puzzles to solve so that everyone in your group can add their talents to the effort as well. And since I don't want to ruin any of the room surprises, you'll have to go and experience on your own but it's a fun way to spend time together and work as a team. Highly recommend! read more

Enjoyed my last trip here in the jail cell. We solved it - needed 3 hints. Was with mostly kids and they were able to be involved. Clean and safe experience. Good for birthday parties and groups. read more

A group of 6 of us including our 2 kids age 13 and 10 went to Total Escape for the first time and did the Temple of Tikal room. Two adults hadn't done an escape room before and the others of us have done about 2-5 each. We had a blast! Our game master Nyles was exceptional - very informative and let us do our thing but provided clear hints when we asked for them. It was a great room for groups of 4+ people with multiple puzzles that could be worked on at one time (nonlinear). All 6 of us were engaged and really enjoyed it. We will definitely be back to do the other 3 rooms! read more

We decided to try the Paint Room instead this time and was not disappointed. Ryan was a wonderful DJ and host. He answered all of our questions, took great pictures and was super helpful. We all had so much fun interacting with each other, painting our pictures and slinging paint all over the place. Highly recommend! read more

Great activity for out of town family! We were greeted and escorted to our escape. The challenges were well designed and engaging.

Back for another birthday party. We had 4 groups this year and I was in the yacht heist. This one was a little different because you are trying to steal as much money as possible instead of trying to break out. The puzzles were a lot of fun again. I love how all the rooms are so different and can't wait to try more. read more

We did Yacht Heist, a bit unconventional for our family's first escape room, as we weren't only trying to escape, but trying to escape with over a million dollars in loot. We LOVED it! My kids enjoyed the dancing and finding crowns and looking for coins. Probably one of the most fun things we did as a family all summer. Highly recommend! read more

This was absolutely the best escape room we have done!! We did Prison Break and loved the multiple room concept. It was just difficult enough but the 3 of us could solve it. Highly recommend it ! read more

Clever, challenging, unique and fun! This was a great escape room! Hope to visit again soon to try the other rooms.

I have been to one escape room before, so was excited to try another one out at this Winston-Salem location for a friend's birthday. There were more limitations as far as group size allowance and different safety procedures due to the pandemic. However, I was fine with all that as it made me feel more comfortable doing an inside activity. The escape room we did was called the Enchanted Forrest and it was actually almost brand new at Total Escape. It had a total of three rooms with various puzzles to solve under the guidance of your digital fairy friend/helper. I was impressed with the level of difficulty of the puzzles, just hard enough to challenge us, but also obtainable in the time allotted. Total Escape was very creative in coming up with different types of puzzles/activities that fit the theme and they really did not waste any space in the rooms. There was something everyone could be working on at same time, until the end. We were a group of 7 people and escaped with 11 minutes to spare! read more

My husband and I were looking for a fun Valentines date. We normally do the movies but this was some thing new and different. I chose our room based on the theme and not the difficulty level. We did not beat the enchanted garden but we had a lot of fun trying to. The woman who checked us in was very nice and explained things well. At the end she also showed us how we would've finished the room. Everything was very clean and organized. We will definitely come back in the future. read more

Love this place! This was our second time here. The first time we did the Enchanted Forrest room and ran out of time on the very last puzzle. We found out at this visit that the enchanted Forrest was one of the harder rooms. This visit was kind of a last minute plan. When the idea popped into our head to do an escape room it was already almost 730pm. We went on their website and found out you have to book the room at least 60 minutes in advance so they have time to set everything up. If you ask me, 60 minutes is not a lot of time for the amount of puzzles they have to set up. We were able to book an 845 room. This time we did the Temple of Tikal. Our game master was very helpful and gave us small hints when we needed them. They didn't really give anything away but definitely led us in the right direction for us to get by what we were stuck on. At both my first and this visit I was amazed at the creativity of some of the puzzles we were tasked with solving. This place is great for both small and large groups. The group before us had about 6 or 7 people. We had only 3 and we were still able to make it through. I will 100% be back to try the other two rooms they have! read more

They were amazing for my son and his friends at his 16th birthday gathering. Our room was fun and challenging. My son was surprised to find a hidden t-shirt and signed postcard from all the staff with birthdays wishes. Such a sweet touch. Thank you Nadia and everyone at Total Escape!! read more

I have now done three of the four existing escape rooms at Total Escape and today was my first time doing an escape room in "interesting times". I love their puzzles, and more importantly these days, I also feel very confident in their cleaning the rooms between groups. Most recently I helped save the Enchanted Forest, and I also have escaped the Temple of Tikal. I particularly liked the loot element in Yacht Heist in which you had to clear a certain amount of $$ to escape, but if you had more time and found more gold, it was pure profit to you and your crew. The puzzles were diverse and complex enough to keep everyone involved and I've done rooms with adult groups and middle school groups. I hope they keep putting together new rooms because I've thoroughly enjoyed all I've done there and while I know eventually they'll cycle rooms out, I hope to get to do all of them. read more

We had 9 family members visit us from four different states. Only three of us had ever tried an escape room. Two were hostile to the thought of being "locked in". My wife and I four our group to give "Yacht Heist" a try. We are so glad we did. The many puzzles spread through out three different rooms were largely solvable. We solved all but two and finished our hour just shy of the $1,000,000 goal. Everyone thought this event was great fun! read more

Total Escape - Our escape room platoon! - Escape Games Near Me - Winston-Salem, North Carolina

WOW!!!! We have been to escape rooms in pigeon forge, winston, Greensboro, Huntersville, Concord and Jacksonville Florida. And this is hands down by far the best escape rooms!! The only ones that are even close are "The Escape Game" company that has locations all over. I've been told this guy creates his own and they're well worth the money. Can't wait for him to build more. We have done all 4. My recommendations are as follows: Prison Break is a good one to do for the first time. It would be good for a date night as my BF and I escaped just the two of us. But would be good with more people too. This was fun and challenging, but beatable. The Heist is another great one for a first time. Although you're collecting a certain amount to "escape" it is fun and challenging. This is good for a big group as it is very spacious and lots of moving parts. Although we did it with a group of 3 and almost found everything. Temple of Takah is great for a group of people too although I'd say best with 2-4. This one would be okay for a first time but it is a little difficult. We enjoyed the challenge but did not escape. Seriously considering paying to do it again. Enchanted forest. This one was the most difficult and unless you're an experienced escape game master then I would do this with no less than 4 people. There is a lot going on in there and it's challenging. It was a lot of fun. We did it with 4 people and barely escaped. Thanks for the great fun!!! read more

Soooo fun!! Four of us tackled the Enchanted Forrest and apparently it was the perfect level of difficulty as we finished with just 1 second to spare. A good time was had by all and I highly recommend. The puzzles were all doable and didn't require math or external knowledge. They were all clue based or logic. One was similar to that game Mastermind. read more

Total Escape - Behold!! The ticking clock! - Escape Games Near Me - Winston-Salem, North Carolina

This was an amazing time with friends and family. We went with a bigger group and broke up into 3 smaller groups. Total Escape was able to handle our numbers with ease and it was so much fun. Nadia was an amazing Game Master and really gave a great experience! The system was fun and despite my concern of not have a doctorate, the puzzles were challenging but doable. Definitely recommend this for any family or friend group looking for a great way to grow closer together!!! read more

We had so much fun with our Enchanted Forest Escape Room experience! Our Game Master, Sam, was great. We would definitely do this again :)

first time ever doing an escape room and it was a lot of fun for a first time experience!

Our first time. The evening was well organized and extremely fun. Our group was small which added to our experience.

I have done 2 of the 4 escape rooms so far; Enchanted Forest and Prison Break. Both were very fun and memorable experiences! We had a group of 6 for enchanted forest and there were so many puzzles that everyone got to participate, and we escaped with 1:30 seconds left on our clock. In Prison Break we had 4 players and that was the perfect number; it's a bit smaller than enchanted forest and I'm not sure everyone would have gotten to participate if we had any more players than that. Still it was just as fun if not more so than Enchanted Forest! We can't wait to escape from the other rooms! read more

Wow! What an amazing experience. The staff is friendly and accommodating. The game was very challenging, but with unlimited clues we were able to control our level of frustration. Ha! I was so impressed by the quality of the rooms and set up. It's clear this company cares. We will definitely return to experience all of the rooms. read more

Family had a great time. We escaped with 7 .in. to spare. We laughed. It was challenging. The hosts made us feel very welcome. Would recommend. read more

We've since been back twice and my enthusiasm for this place has only multiplied. We've done the enchanted forest, the temple, and the prison rooms and these are all three far and away the best rooms we've experienced. So creative and immersive! I'm so impressed with all the unique ways they've moved beyond the padlock paradigm, making it feel like not just a game but an actual adventure, especially in the case of the Temple of Tikal. If you've never done an escape room, that first time can be a little overwhelming, so my best advice to you is to use one of the other less immersive escape rooms in the area to get familiar with how escape rooms work so that you can really be prepared to get the most out of this top notch experience. And all three of our game masters have been a delight. We're going back to do the last one, Yacht Heist, for my son's birthday this year and I'm preemptively mourning not having another to look forward to! Hats off to Total Escape!! read more

The service was great, it's a nice place as well. Free water bottles are a great convenience. The puzzles were difficult but most were fair. A few were arbitrary but that's why you can ask for hints. The hints are typed out by an employee in real time so they make lots of sense. About anyone can solve the puzzles given enough hints but you can choose your own difficulty with them. I haven't been to many of these so I don't have much to compare it too but it was a good time. read more

My friends and I did the Prison Break room at total escape. We did not escape, but still enjoyed the experience overall! I have done two escape rooms prior to this one. What I liked most was the unlimited hints, which are very much needed! I highly recommend and would definitely go again! read more

Friendly staff. I really enjoyed playing the Yacht Heist, it was still fun to play even with a small group. I will definitely visit again.

Tons of fun. Great for kids and adults. Rooms are sanitized after each session. Definitely recommend!

5 star escape room all the way! My family and I love trying different escape rooms, we've been to many in the Raleigh and Winston Salem area, this one is by far the best we have been to. Kudos to Alex our game master, great experience! We are coming again! read more

The two of us went for my grandson's birthday and we had a great time! The staff were so friendly and thoughtful. They even gave him a T-shirt and a birthday card. My wife and I love taking our 6 year old daughter to escape rooms. It's one of our favorite family activities, and we've probably done about 20-30 escape rooms over the past 3 years. By a WIDE MARGIN, Total Escape has the very, very best escape rooms we've done so far. Their rooms are large, their Game Masters are enthusiastic, knowledgeable, and fun... but most importantly, their puzzles and games are the most unique, challenging, and fun ones we've ever encountered. We just finished About Time, which has a wondefully creative twist to the usual format (breakin instead of out!) This has been my wife's favorite of their four rooms so (though I liked Prison Break the best!) Alex was our game master (we've had him before), and his enthusiasm and attitude only added to our already stellar experience. Total Escpae is THE BEST!!! read more

This was the first escape room that we have done as a family. We decided to do something as a family right before my son left for college...IT WAS GREAT! So interactive and the whole group worked together. Fun to see how each person contributed to each situation. We loved it and will do it again. I will definitely go again. read more

Staff was very friendly and helpful. We had a great time. We even beat our time from our last escape.

Temple of TiKal. Best fun in a long time! Challenging and entertaining. Very clever. Had five participants including two children (12 and 10). It took all five of us working and we succeeded in the allotted time-barely. Sam was a great game master and guide who gave a perfect hint. It was our first escape room and we will definitely go back again. read more

We es aped from the Enchanted Gorest and loved it! I admit thought it would be hokey but I really enjoyed that the puzzles to solve were quite challenging without being terrifying.
