Beautiful Escape Rooms! We've tried Special Ops and The Heist games and both were pretty fun. The only thing I didn't like was that you have to pay so much extra $$ if you want a private session (to ensure no strangers join your group). We gambled by booking rooms last minute that did not have any reservations yet. Heist: we had 4 people vs maximum of 8, and it was a perfect group size. I've tried 4 different Escape Rooms in the Twin Cities area and this one is the most convenient location, inside the Mall of America. Aesthetics (5/5) I love the beautiful attention to detail for each prop. Each room is gorgeous. Puzzle Quality (3/5) Some of the puzzles are more clever than others. But some puzzles seem to just be added without clear alignment with the room theme. Puzzle Amount (5) Good amount of puzzles for the 60 minute game play. Booking Ease (3/5). I bought gift cards from the store. When I tried to book online, it would only apply one gift card at a time. So I had to call (and put on hold) to be able to book all 4 of us using gift cards. But their online system made it easy to see which rooms had existing reservations (so we could try to get our own room).

Had such a great time playing Prison break with our Game Guide Finn. My brother and sister in law booked this online for the day on New Years Eve. They've played this rook before but not everyone has. Our game guide was great and reached out when we needed help. It was pretty challenging and a lot fun. Located 3rd floor of the Mall of America and they're open late!

We have been here two times and loved both rooms we've done. We did the heist and prison break. Prison break was awesome. The staff here are SO FRIENDLY!! We tried to wait to use clues and didn't use a lot, but when we needed them the staff gave good ones that made you think and weren't too easy. The stories are good, make sense, and add to the game. We will be back to do the rest of the rooms.

A group of 8 of us went to the escape room. We had a reservation and we got in quickly. We had a great time. It took us a little bit to get started but the staff is willing to give you helpful clues, and the rooms was set up really well. We did make it out with 9 minutes to spare. The props were well placed, there wasn't anything so difficult to get into that there was no hope. I would go back to try another room in the future.

Great escape room. Super fun, kind friendly staff. Very nice rooms. We went with the heist room. Small area, also no lockers to store things. There are coat hangers on the door and a small basket- but just a heads up for storing purposes. It was very busy when we went, I'd suggest booking ahead. Overall loved my time here, can't wait to try prison break next.

We loved this experience! It was really hard, but the attendant paid attention to us and knew when we needed clues and when we didn't. Our kids went bananas the entire time and even though there were some tense moments, it was a valuable experience that taught us to work together under pressure. We bought a gift card through their promotion so we can go back again and try another room!

I really cannot rate this experience highly enough. It was definitely the highlight of our weekend at MOA. My 2 teenage daughters and I got paired up with two other groups for a total of 8 participants in the Heist room. Some people think it's a downside to have to play with strangers but I think it's the best part (or maybe we just lucked out and got great teammates). Every single person contributes in some way...some people are more intuitive, others notice every detail, some people are brainiacs. My daughter is creative and thinks "outside the box." It all helps to solve the puzzle and escape! I could see it being a great team building exercise and SO MUCH FUN. I screamed obnoxiously every time we solved another passcode and opened up another clue. It was pricey, I'll admit. For the 3 of us with tax it came to $125. I would do it again in a heartbeat.

Good experience, Finn helped out when needed... only twice and with 12 minutes to spare. One of the better rooms we have done.

Ask the Community - The Escape Game Minneapolis

Is it possible to pay in-store if you are using separate cards? And aren't comfortable handing out information like that?

I went with a group and we all paid separately in the store .

Could I do this with my 6 month old strapped to me?

What I love most is how interactive everything is. Each room is private to your group (up to 5 players), so you're always playing with the people you came with, no awkward mixing with strangers. It makes it perfect for families, friends, or even a team outing with coworkers. The Mega Grid is hands-down my favorite and the main reason I keep coming back. We arrived about 30 minutes early and still felt rushed. The mall directions led us to a first kiosk, but Activate is actually on the third floor, so that added some confusion. When we arrived, there was a fairly long line. I had pre-registered online using a gift card, but at check-in they initially said I owed the full amount. I had to ask them to locate and apply the gift card I had already purchased. Once that was sorted out, each person in our group had to sign in separately, which takes a few minutes per person. They did provide a free locker, which was great. I highly recommend putting all jackets and hoodies in there - you will get hot fast. Once signed in, the instructions are very brief, but easy enough to figure out as you go. We were a group of six and hoped to play together, but had to split into two groups. That ended up being fine because we competed against each other, which was actually fun. There are about 10 rooms, and each room offers multiple game options. Every game earns you points, and there's a large scoreboard showing rankings, which adds a fun competitive element. We went on a busy day, so we did have short waits for some games, but usually only a couple of minutes. One downside: I wish there were a water fountain inside the gaming area. You can't bring water bottles in, and while there is a fountain by the lockers, our one-hour session flew by and we barely had time to step out. Overall, we had a great time and would absolutely do it again. Tips if you go: 1. Arrive at least 30 minutes early to find it and check in. 2. Wear shorts, a T-shirt and running shoes. 3. Drink water before you start. Fun, fast-paced, and a great workout!

It's super fun but also very active, so be ready to move. Definitely feels like a workout in the best way. There are about ten different rooms and each one has a different challenge, ranging from brain teasers to full-on physical games. I love that there are different levels so it works for all ages and fitness levels. It's great whether you're competitive or just in it for a laugh. The only small downside is that each room only allows up to five people, and we were a group of eight. We had to split into two groups and mostly stuck with our original teams since switching around isn't always practical. If one team is already inside a room, the others have to wait and it eats into your play time. It would be awesome if they could make that part a bit smoother, but honestly it didn't take away from how fun everything else was. We're already planning to keep going back. I'd honestly sign up for a monthly membership if they had one. Way more fun than the gym and such a good way to hang out with friends while staying active.
