A great activity for a team building event. This place is super duper spot for "escape room" theme activities. They have multiple themes for you to select (you can find the detail of each theme and difficulty level from their website). Our team chose the "fault", though we didn't (yes we spent too much time over thinking; lol) complete the objective, we definitely enjoyed our time and we are already in the discussion to come again and try a different room!

First off, I want to say how much fun this was - I had been to another escape room a couple of years ago, and that one was a bit stressful. This was much more chill - I like that we had the option of asking for help/hints if at any time we felt stuck. This is going to sound odd, but I also appreciated that we weren't "locked" into the room - I feel like that's unnecessary and a safety hazard, honestly. Our group was assigned the "vault room", and there were plenty of different levels of puzzles to solve, ranging from easy to a little more complex. I think the amount of time it took us to solve the room was just right, and the staff were super friendly and helpful. All in all, a great group activity.

We had a blast! I have done a couple of the rooms, and enjoyed each one. The themes are taken seriously and each room is designed and decorated well. There is also a range of different clues. The rooms were tricky, and I have found it is always easier with more people. The host was kind and explained the rules very nicely. The host was also prompt with clues. We didn't complete The Dungeon, and will have to go back.

Our group went into the Vault. It was a fun experience! Our game master, Collin was extremely helpful! I would say this was a good starter escape room! First room was super fun trying to figure out the pass code. The second room, you had to figure out how to open the door to the 3rd room where you had to find the ring! It was super awesome puzzles, and loved solving all the little riddles! I think a group of 4-6 is the best for this as it can be challenging with too many voices in there haha. Thanks for such an awesome experience!

Recently visited some friends in the area and we did The Hospital room at PuzzleWorks. We had a blast! Our group of 4 was able to escape in time, and the room had a really fun variety of puzzles to go with each of our skillsets and require both individual work and teamwork to get the job done. The theme was unique and there were a few unexpected twists. The puzzles were in the sweet spot where you don't necessarily need many hints but you had to use some brain power. Definitely interested in trying other rooms if I'm back in the area again.

I played 1 game at Puzzleworks St. Paul in July 2021. This review is written by someone who has done quite a few escape rooms (through out the US, Europe and South America). Alright ... here we go!!! (***NO SPOILERS***) Room: The Hospital Cost: $35/pp (2 players) Genre: Medical Difficulty: 3.5/5 Room Design: 5/5 Quality of Puzzles: 4.5/5 Cons: One puzzle was super finicky with positioning/scanning and another puzzle was very obscure (had to take a hint). Pros: Private Rooms (thanks, Covid!), Smooth Online Booking, Friendly Staff (shout out to Peter -- you are an excellent game master), Mostly Linear Game Flow Overall: Well-designed, 2nd generation escape room. Puzzles fit the theme and most of them make sense. When you solve a clue, you know what to do with it. There were only 3 locks with keys, 1 word lock and several electronic locks. We got out with 2 of us (1 minute remaining) but I would say that it would probably be good for groups of 4. I was THRILLED that it was private bookings only -- I can't stand being paired with random (inexperienced/not the brightest) groups of people because the game doesn't go well. It was easy to find, parking was abundant and the directions to the room (in the basement of an industrial building) were well-labeled. Peter was a fantastic game master. They had a beat chalkboard to sign if you escaped. Also, they had some nifty shirts for sale. I wish I would've had more time in St. Paul so I could've played their other rooms. When I come back to MN, I'll definitely stop by again!

Had suuuuch a great time at Puzzle Works. I have done a few other escape rooms and I liked this one because it had lots of puzzle and ones that I could do. The only thing that I think could use some improvement was the rooms decor was a little underwhelming. I really was hoping for a nicer decor of the rooms. But with that being said the one staff we had was very nice and helpful. I do want to come and try another room soon. Over all I had a great time and hope to be back soon.

Having done a number of escape room in the past, I love that this place felt a bit more quirky and independent than some of those more "corporate" type rooms. This will be spoiler free here. We booked "The dreamscape". There was a puzzle that must be solved in the common hallways, using a prop, before you can enter the actual room. This was kind of neat but also served to bifurcate the experience. Outside the room and inside the room didn't really feel connected. It felt gimmicky and like busy work. I mean it was a neat way to enter the room in concept, maybe they could connect the two experiences better. Inside the room, the puzzles were very "station" oriented. You could complete the stations in any order to ultimately succeed. This was also different from other escape rooms I've been to that are very linear with one clue leading to another. This one was basically just a series of independent puzzles to solve. The difficulties varied, from very easy and immediately solved - to kind of overly complicated that really required you to think like the puzzle creator. You know how sometiems in a puzzle room when you get stuck and have to hit the button for help? Then you get the answer and you're like "that's genius? how cool?" or "I never would have thought of that! that's brilliant". It wasn't like that here. First, pushing the help button didn't really result in actionable help. As all the different "stations" were in use by members of our group, the cryptic and esoteric help tended to be just general, and not on the specific place and station we were stuck. Second, when getting the help and actually solving something it was like "really? that doesn't make any sense. How on earth would anyone do this on their own?". Overall, the family wants to go back. I liked the ambience and the eating options. I didn't really care for the communal outside-the-room experience. The particular room we chose is among the least favorite rooms I've ever done (the best one ever being the Harry Potter elder wand room over at Trapped Puzzle rooms - which I believe is a sister location of this business). So I would recommend the Lodge of Lazarus Crowe overall, but this particular adventure was a swing and a miss for me. Didn't particularly enjoy the theme, the designs, the puzzles, or the lack of clues when we needed them.

It was so exciting to uncover clues to get closer to completing our mission. The best part is that it was all Harry Potter themed which made it extra magical! There are about ten different rooms and each one has a different challenge, ranging from brain teasers to full-on physical games. I love that there are different levels so it works for all ages and fitness levels. It's great whether you're competitive or just in it for a laugh. The only small downside is that each room only allows up to five people, and we were a group of eight. We had to split into two groups and mostly stuck with our original teams since switching around isn't always practical. If one team is already inside a room, the others have to wait and it eats into your play time. It would be awesome if they could make that part a bit smoother, but honestly it didn't take away from how fun everything else was. We're already planning to keep going back.
