Was looking for a Harry Potter themed activity for a friends birthday when I came across Trapped! They have a bunch of escape rooms based on mainstream pop-culture, you just have to search a bit since they change up names due to copyright issues (the Harry Potter one is Witchcraft Alley). This one is right below Acme comedy club, and is easy to reserve a spot online! Pricing was worth it for how much fun we had in this room. We arrived on time and June was the employee helping us. They were helpful and a lot of fun even though we were a late group on a weeknight - definitely made the experience! The room itself was amazing, the attention to detail was incredible and it was truly Harry Potter themed. **REVIEW IS FOR TPR'S VIRTUAL/AUDIO ESCAPE ROOM ONLY!** If you're looking for something to do with a group of friends virtually, TPR's audio escape rooms are a fantastic option! I've done two themed ones now -- Monster Smash (Halloween-themed) as well as a Holiday WhoDunnit. They've both been fantastic and the narrator/leads have been great. They run it on Discord, which I hadn't used before these virtual escape rooms but it's very easy to use + they send detailed information on how to use. These virtual escape rooms are very engaging/just the right amount of challenging; they've both taken me (w/ two different groups) a solid 1.5hrs! It's SO creative how TPR has pivoted during this time. Kudos!! In addition to these audio escape rooms, TPR is also offering a "Live Avatar Experiences." Essentially they take a popular physical escape room (The Heist) onto Zoom and it seems like you interact through the game masters IN the room (e.g. tell them what to do/look at) for you. VERY interesting concept - if they brought their Harry Potter-themed escape room online like this; I would book ASAP! read more

My friend group and I love trying a new activity for birthdays, and this time we stopped by trapped puzzle rooms for the Witchcraft Alley escape room. We've done some escape rooms before together, but the attention to detail in this one was amazing!! Everything from the music to the little puns and clues were so meticulously put together that you really felt like you were dropped right into one of the Harry Potter movies! I can't say enough about how great the immersive theme was, we were all super impressed! The staff member working there was super friendly and funny as well and did a great job explaining the room and giving hints when needed. We were able to escape in just under 45 minutes with a group of 6. Would definitely recommend for families or groups of friends! read more

I've been to The Diagonal Alley puzzle room in Northloop and the Very Potter Escape Room in St Paul, and although I loved both (and would recommend either locations), I liked the North Loop location more because the puzzle was more fun. Overall, staff was friendly and gave helpful hints whenever we were stuck. There were props that we could use to solve our puzzle, and although it was an hour long, we were allowed to finish our puzzle (we went a minute or two over time). They also had storage areas for your coats and locks for valuables. Even if you haven't been to many escape rooms, you would still enjoy the experience and the details that were put in. read more

My daughter and a few of her friends celebrated her 14th birthday by solving Dragon's Keep. They had a fantastic time! I mentioned to Brian that they play DnD, so he personalized the experience by incorporating hints that apply to the game. We rented the adjacent party room for pizza & cake afterwards, which was super convenient. When we realized we forgot the lighter for the birthday candles, Brian went out of his way to go and hunt one down. The building that houses Trapped was a bit of a puzzle itself, but it was really cool! Trapped was the perfect party venue for kids who like a creative mental challenge, and Brian could not have been more delightful! Thx! read more

Diagonal Alley is the BEST ESCAPE ROOM EVER!! A couple of years ago we did their other wizard-inspired room (A Very Potter Escape Room) and it was great but this one is even more magical, immersive, intricate and amazing! There are so many thoughtful details for fans and fun discoveries. (Note that you don't actually need to know anything about the boy wizard to solve anything.) I've done a few escape rooms in LA and this blows them all away! read more

Our group of eight gave Diagonal Alley a try this afternoon. What a great room!!! The atmosphere is awesome and the challenges are unique. This room is unlike any of the other rooms we've done. All of the puzzles require magic and/or some serious thinking! Our game master was Nick and he was super. One puzzle didn't function properly and he quickly stopped the timer, fixed the issue and got us going again. This is not your typical room and it's tough! By far the most unique room we have done! And yes, we got out with just minutes to spare. read more

This review is based on the "Diagonal Alley" room. With 6 people (two of which were hardcore Harry Potter fans and the other 4 were along for the ride) the experience was perfect: just enough for team work without being crowded. The puzzles were engaging and challenging while never seeming impossible. The special effects in the room were delightful and so fun to be immersed in. Additionally, the staff was the best. They accommodated a scheduling error and a late arrival. They never made us feel rushed or acted negatively towards. The moderator was a very cool guy with excellent knowledge of the building (it's a great space!) and helped make the experience a blast. I can't recommend this place enough!! read more

Trapped was my first escape room and I was not disappointed! My family and I did the "It's all fun and games" room and it was awesome! The room was decorated perfectly for the theme, the clues were challenging but solveable, the game master (Mike) gave just the right amount of hints, and all of the secret rigs were super cool! My mind was kinda blown. Mike was so knowledgeable of the trapped experience and made us feel so welcome. I've officially found a new hobby and will for sure be coming back to Trapped! read more

I am currently on a road trip to Minnesota with friends and we decided to do an escape room to pass some time. The room itself was fantastic. Great puzzles, very interactive, and very well designed. The issue came at the end. As we were completing what seemed to be the last puzzle, we pushed on what we thought may be a button. We by no means used any excessive force (we were told at the beginning of the room that we "may need to use minor super strength" to open things). It was at this time that the Game Master (Brain) entered the room stating "I can't have you pressing on our shield man, your game is over" then walked out. We were left standing there very confused as to how the room was supposed to end or what we were supposed to do next. We then had to ask about the last puzzle which he very quickly showed us how to unlock with no further explanation then stormed out once again. At this point, we got our stuff and went to leave. We apologized for pushing on the shield and got "It was a little too much for us" in response as he walked passed us. I have done well over 40 escape rooms in multiple different states and have never once been treated in such a way. In every room I have ever done, if we did not escape on time, there was an explanation to the end of the room, we were asked if we had questions, and they showed us out. Even if we were not supposed to push on the shield, there was a much more professional way to relay that information. Instead we were kicked out with absolutely zero explanation as to how it ended. Brian completely ruined our experience and was extremely rude and unprofessional. read more

This place was highly rated for kids, so two moms and 5 kids went (our kids are not rowdy- 15, 13, 11, 6, 6). I was severely disappointed in the puzzle master's patience with kids. They got two warnings for normal kid behavior (the first warning was fair- even though we were all just trying to figure out the puzzle). The second warning was completely unwarranted. We were told not to "break their stuff" when they were not being rough with anything. I can't imagine how it would have been if we had kids who were difficult to control. This is not the place to bring your kids. read more

Went to the new escape room last night and can't stop talking about it. Went to "All fun and Games" and it was amazing. I would suggest any Trapped room to people for a great night. This company knows how to do rooms really well. I haven't met an unfriendly staff member and always come out laughing and amazed at things that happen in the rooms. We completed the "It's All Fun and Games" puzzle room on Friday. This was by far, the best puzzle room I have been in! First off, the room was MUCH larger than any other escape room I have been in. Because of this, everyone was able to spread out and examine the room and find/work on the clues without stepping on one another. We also loved that the clock wasn't displayed in the room. It caused less anxiety! If we did want to know how much time was left, the "game master" who was monitoring us was happy to give us that information. The puzzle was much more intricate than just unlocking locks and punching in codes. It was incredibly well thought-out and engaging and stayed on the theme of "toy store". We definitely will be back to "Trapped-North Loop" soon! It is the best escape room company in Minneapolis. read more

Given my recent addiction with escape and puzzle rooms throughout the cities, I was excited to try out Trapped Puzzle Rooms for ladies night out. We went with the Fire and Ice Room given a few of us are GOT fans. You did not need to watch the show to do the room, but there was added value if you are a fan. My favorite thing about escape rooms has been that there are usually multiple puzzles to solve and usually small groups form to work on different clues. Here the puzzles were very sequential so we couldn't move on until a certain puzzle was solved. It made for some sitting around for some of the participants. I did like though that it was not about escaping a room but needing to complete a task as the end goal. That made for a unique experience from other escape rooms I have done. Our host was amazing and gave us clues as we went along. It seemed we needed a lot of clues and likely this was due to the step by step way in which the puzzles occurred. 5 stars for staff, room decor, location, but 2-3 stars for the challenge itself. read more

I played the Diagonal Alley with five of my friends and absolutely adored it. It is the best escape room experience I have ever had. Although you don't need to know anything about Harry Potter to enjoy the room, the designers obviously put a lot of effort into adding humorous details that didn't distract from the game. All of the puzzle made perfect sense and were very well thought out. If we were stuck on a puzzle, our game master offered us the perfect amount of advice: Enough that we would almost immediately realize what we'd been missing while still allowing us to figure the solution out on our own. We did not experience any issues using the props and the room design was gorgeous. I wish I could play it again for the first time. This is the second time I've played at Trapped Puzzle Rooms (the first time was also a Harry Potter-themed room), and although my group didn't exactly escape within an hour, we still had tons of fun and were completely satisfied with our experience. The staff was very accomodating, even when one member of our party was a little late to arrive, and extremely friendly and outgoing. We all felt very comfortable hanging out before our game. If you like escape rooms, Harry Potter, or generally having fun, I would HIGHLY recommend visiting Trapped Puzzle Rooms. The quality of their games and customer service are worth every cent spent. read more
