Our group of eight gave Diagonal Alley a try this afternoon. What a great room!!! The atmosphere is awesome and the challenges are unique. This room is unlike any of the other rooms we've done. All of the puzzles require magic and/or some serious thinking! Our game master was Nick and he was super. One puzzle didn't function properly and he quickly stopped the timer, fixed the issue and got us going again. This is not your typical room and it's tough! By far the most unique room we have done! And yes, we got out with just minutes to spare.

Went to Trapped Puzzle Rooms for a small birthday thing. We had three adults and 2 kids (9 and 11)…read more We did the Wizard's Tower escape room and had a super fun time. The puzzles make you think, but the 9 and 11 year olds were still able to help out and didn't feel like it was too hard for them. The puzzles were very hands on, which was very fun. The Montessori kid in me always loves that. The room itself was so cool with a bunch of secrets and secret places hidden around! Really felt like you were in a wizard's toward! Cool lighting, walls, and ceiling. AND a staircase in the room which was awesome! We finished in under an hour (which we were kind of shocked by, because we thought we were taking a long time). Overall, a very fun small group activity!

The room was so well done with creative and interactive mysteries. It truly felt like we were in a magical room, uncovering hidden clues and surprises. It was so exciting to uncover clues to get closer to completing our mission. The best part is that it was all Harry Potter themed which made it extra magical! We had 1 hr to complete and we escaped in the nick of time! Booking was easy and done online. It was easy to find parking nearby. The staff are super friendly and guide you through everything you need to know. I absolutely loved my first escape room experience! The whole group couldn't get over how much fun we had and already thinking about our next one! Highly recommend!

We played the Utopia room, which is award-winning and a unique take on an escape room. This was my first time doing one, so I was a little nervous doing this one since it was 9/10 difficulty. My biggest advice would be that this room needs at least 4 people to complete it successfully. We had the best time trying to solve this room. We opted to have hints that they would send when we weren't on the right track/losing time and it definitely helped but wasn't too obvious, so it still made it fun. We ended up completing it successfully with only one minute to spare! Would definitely recommend Lock & Key, and hopefully I will be back to try other rooms!

We were a little nervous going in because the room we chose (Utopia) was ranked a 9/10 difficulty, but we decided to try it anyway since it is award winning. It was so much fun and definitely do-able even for those without a ton of escape room experience (we got a few hints throughout to keep us on track). We finished the room with 1 minute to spare! Our group can't wait to go back and try the other rooms soon!

We stumbled across this place during a foodie day trip and bar hop around Saint Paul. This review…read moreis specifically for the bar, which I believe goes by the separate name Hourglass Cafe & Bar. (The building also houses an escape room, though I haven't experienced that yet.) The building itself is incredibly unique, with a spooky history that adds to the atmosphere. They also have a really fun, thoughtfully curated cocktail menu! Between our visits we've tried at least six different cocktails, and every one has been delicious. I also appreciate that the pours are generous. On our second or third visit, we figured there couldn't be a better place for some entertainment-only tarot readings. I brought my deck, and it was such a fun experience reading for friends in a historic old mortuary! Street parking is available right in front of the building. We've always been able to find a spot nearby without much trouble. I'd definitely recommend stopping in for a drink and soaking up the atmosphere!

I'm torn between a 3.5 and a 4 on this one. It's a cool location with great ambience. Although we…read moredidn't try the food or drink, it looked good and I'd love to come back and try it. Having done a number of escape room in the past, I love that this place felt a bit more quirky and independent than some of those more "corporate" type rooms. This will be spoiler free here. We booked "The dreamscape". There was a puzzle that must be solved in the common hallways, using a prop, before you can enter the actual room. This was kind of neat but also served to bifurcate the experience. Outside the room and inside the room didn't really feel connected. It felt gimmicky and like busy work. I mean it was a neat way to enter the room in concept, maybe they could connect the two experiences better. Inside the room, the puzzles were very "station" oriented. You could complete the stations in any order to ultimately succeed. This was also different from other escape rooms I've been to that are very linear with one clue leading to another. This one was basically just a series of independent puzzles to solve. The difficulties varied, from very easy and immediately solved - to kind of overly complicated that really required you to think like the puzzle creator. You know how sometiems in a puzzle room when you get stuck and have to hit the button for help? Then you get the answer and you're like "that's genius? how cool?" or "I never would have thought of that! that's brilliant". It wasn't like that here. First, pushing the help button didn't really result in actionable help. As all the different "stations" were in use by members of our group, the cryptic and esoteric help tended to be just general, and not on the specific place and station we were stuck. Second, when getting the help and actually solving something it was like "really? that doesn't make any sense. How on earth would anyone do this on their own?". Overall, the family wants to go back. I liked the ambience and the eating options. I didn't really care for the communal outside-the-room experience. The particular room we chose is among the least favorite rooms I've ever done (the best one ever being the Harry Potter elder wand room over at Trapped Puzzle rooms - which I believe is a sister location of this business). So I would recommend the Lodge of Lazarus Crowe overall, but this particular adventure was a swing and a miss for me. Didn't particularly enjoy the theme, the designs, the puzzles, or the lack of clues when we needed them.
