Really good stuff here! Wide selection with savory and sweet options, helpful service, and delicious food. The empanadas are freshly cooked and are super crunchy! The Costilla De Puerco is a little salty for my taste but the sweet empanadas take the house.
Fantastic empanada spot!! I was greeted immediately when I walked in. I had the cheese pizza empanada and a pumpkin cheesecake one for dessert. I love that they have creative fillings for their empanadas. The cheese pizza empanada has all the best elements of a pizza slice, creamy cheese and a flavorful tomato sauce. I'll definitely be back for that one again! The pumpkin cheesecake empanada was ok; it definitely fits into the pumpkin spice season. Ambiance is fun and casual. They have a cool empanada mural if you're looking for that social media moment. Add The Empanada Spot to your foodie list. You won't regret it!
I wanted to try something new but also only get something that wasn't gonna be too heavy on my stomach and it did not disappoint with the quesobirria empanada and the churro cheesecake empanada. Since I dyed in both were brought to the table with the trio of salsa and the red one that's a little chunky was my favorite. A gentleman offered me a bottle of water cause he said this also might be a little hot and that was very kind of him. Both the empanadas came out fresh, hot and we peer deliciousness. The crust on the outside was amazing just like both of the feelings. The quesobirria was delicious and the meat was well seasoned- I will definitely have to make that a frequent stop when I'm in the area either for sweet treat or something savory. It's a nice little establishment with some tables on the inside and some chairs on the outside.
First time trying The Empanada Spot. I think they had a good selection of regular and desert empanadas. My favorites were the quesabirria and pepperoni empanadas. The consome that you do need to buy separately is pretty decent and the pepperoni empanada tasted just like a hot pocket but better. I think the prices, $4.75 each, is high considering the size but overall I would come back to try other flavors.

It was recomended by many and I understand it now because I am now telling you to go and try it for yourself. The highlight of the show for me was rhe Rajas con Queso & Corn! O.M.G The bean and cheese was good and the dessert ones were good as well. The churro one was delish! The service was quick, the food came out hot and fresh. We went later in the day so there was ample seating available. The salsas they give you all 10/10. The agua de piña was a 1000/10. Because I participate in Lent I only got to try the non-meat options. Once I am able to, I want to go back and try all their other ones and update my rating to reflect my experience with more of their empanadas. Happy Eating!
Best Empanadas in SD hands down! Chile De Puerco is my fav but don't sleep on the Bean & Cheese especially when you dip it in the Birria broth they have. Birria De Queso also good, the Chicharron one is a hit too, especially with the Nana & Tatas, so bring them they'll love it, they have that old school Mexican flavor the Chicharon, Chile De Puerco & Bean one. They have others that I plan to try & a nice mix & match special if you buy a dozen. The taste to the empanadas is amazing with the breading baked to a perfect crisp & always fresh. The salsas they have are fire! Desserts/sweets they have are good too. It's a cute little shop with a few tables inside & out with a lot of parking. The customer service is very good, friendly, fast & polite. They actually gave me 2 Chile De Puerco by accident instead of one being the bean & cheese one but it was ok I ate it & went up to buy the bean one she nicely said another one? I said oh no you guys mistakenly gave me 2 Puerco ones but it's ok it's my fav so I ate it. She smiled & said, it's ok this one is on us & I'm sorry. Now that's great customer service. Me & the fam plan to come back for sure, they have loyal customers in us. And a tip, they have a great new Coffee Shop next door so you can buy & have some coffee with your amazing Empanadas, see you soon Empanada Spot.

They also have more options now compared to the last time I visited especially more dessert flavors, which has me excited to come back and try more. Today we tried the rajas con queso, chipotle chicken, are super cheesy and the churro cheesecake (a must-try ). and flavorful! Just a heads up they come out SUPER hot, so be careful on that first bite . The spot is clean and there's plenty of parking. FYI as for napkins! Definitely recommend if you're in the area!
Pulled up to this empanada spot with 2 of my homies. These empanadas were crispy on the outside, juicy on the inside the kind where you gotta pause mid-bite and say Ggggyyyaaaaat! We ordered the dozen option (pro tip) so everyone got 4 each, and honestly that's the move. Perfect for sampling without fighting your friends over the last one. They also give you hot salsa/sauces if you eat there. I got the Birria, pot pie, OG and Churro empanada. I love that there are hella options, so no matter your vibe savory, cheesy, sweet you're covered. Everything came out hot, fresh, and cooked right. See ya soon!
Stoped here on our way to Sesame Street place seen the good reviews. First the customer service was good but once I asked for my console dip for my birria empanada I was told I didn't order one which I did. Then I bit into the Birria empanada there was this black plastic inside. Also my Reese's empanada was nothing but peanut butter I was told it came with chocolate as well what a waste of $35

The Empanada Spot is literally the spot for empanadas! The make them per order so you know it's fresh and hot! Service was good order taker was helpful and friendly! Ambiance was good. Enough space to sit and eat a dozen if you dare! Check them out and get the chicharrón one!
The chicharron empanadas was tasty and crunchy even after the drive home in a hot steamy box. The cashier who attended to me in the morning was friendly and polite. I rate places by asking myself would I go back, and the answer is no! For $5.17 for a tiny empanada that's pretty much high way robbery! Not worth it in my books.

Been wanting to try this spot for a while and hate that I waited sooo long. Customer service was amazing, stopped by 6/15 around 11:30ish and the gentleman was great, asked him for recommendations and he didn't disappoint. The wait was about 10 mins which wasn't bad at all. Empanadas were crispy and warm, filling was decent. The watermelon drink they have is delicious!!!! read more

Worth it to try if you're in the area. Good customer service. We ordered a dozen and our favorite was the Quesabirria. I also enjoyed the pepperoni one, it tasted like a fancy hot pocket and had plenty of pepperoni. The empanadas are a little overpriced but a good size. The 3 salsas are all AMAZING and definitely add to the flavor of the empanadas. $6 is very steep for an agua deluxe..basically an extra $2.50 for a chamoy candy rim. The main negative I have is that you have no idea what you're biting into and basically have to guess based on the ingredients listed on the menu. I wish they added toothpicks with little signs or something to each empanada that indicate which one is which, but I guess the surprise is part of the experience. I'd come back if I needed a quick snack and to also try the dessert empanadas. read more

I'm always craving these fire ass empanadas but work alllwwaaayyysssss gets in the way :( today we went in for some coffee and their " OG BREAKFAST SANDWICH " bomb. Basically a whole breakfast plate inside a sandwich !! Super bomb. Affordable and filling !! Super happy this sandwich legit had me full all day until dinner time so thank u guys for opening early. Cute, small, tucked away empanada spot. The service was very friendly served us with a smile. This review is low because of the food specifically. Simply put, it didn't taste great. Every one my partner and I tried. We ordered The OG, chicken, birria, and a bean and cheese. Sad the to say the better of the four we tried was the bean and cheese, and im a pretty big meat eater so, this was pretty disappointing. We had high hopes but just didn't find any of them satisfying. The flavors were off and lacking. Some of the meat (birria and chicken specifically) tasted like it's been just soaking in tap water. Like a dull stewed water taste. This was already a place out of the way for me so, I probably won't be returning if I'm ever in the area. As always, you should try for yourself though! read more

Okayyy... I definitely underestimated how good these empanadas were I ordered 2 quesobirria, 1 chorizo con papa, 1 churro cheese, and 1 Nutella & banana because I wanted to try a little bit of everything. Well... after eating them, I immediately ordered ANOTHER quesobirria and another chorizo con papa. The quesobirria was SO good--juicy, cheesy, flavorful... literally had me going back for seconds before I even finished the first order. The chorizo con papa was also and had so much flavor. And the sweet ones were a nice surprise! The churro cheese was delicious, and the Nutella & banana was perfect if you have a sweet tooth.Basically, I came here planning to "just try it" and left knowing I'll definitely be back. 10/10, highly recommend! A random craving for empanadas struck and when I was looking for a new place to try, The Empanada Spot popped up. It was worth weathering the rain and wet socks. It's a smaller shop with seating. Cute wall art and clean. They're in a plaza with a good amount of parking, which is a bonus. The empanadas are $4.50 each and they're made to order. Fried up to crispy perfection. -Shrimp and Cheese: mild flavor but pairs well with the complimentary salsas. -Quesabirria: immaculate cheese pull & tender beef (you can order consume on the side for a bit extra.) -Peanut Butter and Jelly: I think this was my favorite. I'm a sucker for a good PB&J.. and this was fried, so bonus lol I do think you should wait a couple of minutes before eating do the peanut butter won't drip out though. After it sets, it's petfect. -Churro Cheesecake: Yum, it's a cream cheese filled churro. Tasty. A bunch of people ordered ahead of time for pick up, so if I'm feeling generous and want to actually bring some home to share, I'll definitely do that. Lol read more

So simple & so good. There's a reason why they have 5 star reviews. This place did not disappoint. TheOG, birria, chipotle chicken, shrimp and cheese, & churro cheesecake *drooling*. Everything is made fresh when you order. Our first time and had to order a dozen. The amount of filling in each empanada is enough and the breading pairs perfectly. & they have 3 diff types of hot sauce/salsa that adds more flavor. My new spot for parties/potlucks. Best of all the gentlemen that helped me was so nice and place is clean. I work down the street, so I'm def coming here to pick up dinner. read more

We were looking for some place to grab lunch and since we weren't too far away, we thought why not come here. So glad we did! The workers didn't hear me come in which gave me a chance to look through the menu. After about 5 minutes, a friendly young woman came out and apologized. But I was ready to order! Two chicken chipotle and two OG. Both were soooooo good! Love the flaky crust! There are outside tables and chairs and Cako Approves! Definitely worth coming to this hidden gem! read more

First time here and I was really impressed! I've tried empanadas in different countries, but this place stands out -- their empanadas are on another level. They have a great variety of flavors, and my favorites are the OG, chicharrón, and quesabirria. The others were also good, but those three really hit the spot. The staff were super friendly and gave helpful suggestions on what to try. The place is small but cozy, with tables and chairs both inside and outside. I'll definitely be coming back! read more

Omg so fire. Got the breakfast sandwich. Made to order no frozen Starbucks sandwhich. Egg was perfectly friend and runny sourdough was so yummy. Service was so great and they were so patient with my questions. The salsa is so fresh. Their chipotle mayo is gas. Can't wait to come back. read more

Talk about comfort food! The empanadas here are like a snackable meal and at around $4 each are a great deal. Tucked away in a small plaza this family establishment serves a variety of savory and sweet empanadas. It's a great place to stop by if you're in the area or get catering for small events. I got the Chipotle Chicken which is slightly creamy and smoky (not spicy), and the Rajas (shredded poblano chile) Con Queso. Both were good. The Rajas were more spicy than I expected and the chipotle chicken was perfect. I've also had the shrimp and cheese before and it's one of my favorites. The dough is crispy flakey and not like pie dough which is good, and the trifecta variety of sauces they give you to go with the empanadas are all super good. The service is quick and friendly, and if ever I feel like skipping a hot dog from the nearby Costco I'll stop by this joint! read more

Empanada Spot is so tasty and offers a wide variety of empanadas that are always crispy and delicious. They've also started serving breakfast sandwiches, I tried one today and you can build your own with different breads, spreads, cheeses, and protein options. It was so yummy! And the service is always incredible and nice. I recommend anyone in Chula Vista and beyond check them out. read more
