I surprised my husband a few years ago with tickets to an NFL game here. It was Dallas vs. Jacksonville so the game wasn't really that good. But it was an amazing experience and a really fun reason to go to London! Made the trip memorable and well, I can never beat that birthday gift.

The Emirates Stadium is home to Arsenal FC, it is a fairly new stadium opening in 2006 with a capacity of just over 60,000. My first visit to the stadium was as I watched Manchester City "tear cockneys apart again" with a 3-0 victory. The Emirates is a pretty nice stadium and while I still think it isn't in the top three stadiums in appearance in London it is probably fourth after Wembley, London Stadium and New Tottenham Hotspur Stadium - I do feel it is one of the easier stations to get to, possibly the easiest in North London due to it being walkable to many hotels, Islington shops and Kings Cross Station and many bus services serving the stadium nearby too without diversions - even on matchday. The away end was a little strange, it is basically on a corner with disabled supporters on a raised platform at the back. The seats across the stadium seemed a little slanted and far too close together, I didn't like that. The disabled seating was also poorly numbered and only every other seat was numbered meaning it was difficult to know if you were in the right place, the view was also slightly obstructed by the upper concourse, but the view was pretty much typical as Premier League grounds don't tend to give supporters a fantastic view anyway, with London Stadium of West Ham United being a notable exemption. I did notice rather vigorous security checks here, where two separate officers checked and tagged my bag. Having neutral bag stickers like other grounds seem to do including Liverpool would have been an idea - as a Manchester City fan, I hate the thought of having to carry the Arsenal logo around my bag with me. Ticket prices here are above average, gone are the days where away supporters would be charged more than any other club at over £60 a head but this only came in with Premier League rule changes which capped ticket-prices, so it was nothing good coming from the club as they were forced into it. Pretty decent stadium. I think the seats on the second tier could be a little easier on the eye, and I do appreciate how they showed replays of Manchester City's goals on the screen (no other team I've been to shown away goals), but I do feel they need to improve the stadiums microphone which can't be heard from the back of the away end and disabled seating areas. 3*

Arsenal pulled out the W against Swansea 2-1 for my first Premier League game! Boyfriend and I sat in one of the longside upper tier sections and the view was fantastic. The food and beer options were limited so that was different from stadium visits that we are use to. And, you can't take beer back to your seat which sucked so knock em back before you go. If you love the game of soccer and are visiting when there is a game GO! The fans are passionate about their team and it was a great experience.

I love this stadium and the history. Arsenal needs to win more titles!! The self guided tour comes with audio. The Diamond Club sure is exclusive and posh. I would love to attend a game there.

The best stadium in the world. Okay it isn't but it is rather nice. Great facilities, good leg room and comfy seats with padding none of this plastic talk here. Food and drink is over priced but it's a football stadium it's what you expect. Normally the standard of football is a pleasure to watch as well

I visited The Emirates Stadium for the official tour, but unfortunately was not able to attend a match. However, the tour was excellent and I highly recommend it to Arsenal fans and sports fans in general. The tour costs about 15 pounds, if my memory is correct, and last a little more than an hour. During that time you get to see the director's box and hospitality area, the home dressing room, the player's entrance to the stadium and the field, and the bench area. Sit in Arsene Wenger's seat on the bench. Have your photo taken next to Robin van Persie's locker. Walk out onto the pitch and pretend you're taking the field for a Champions League match. You've got behind-the-scenes access to a beautiful new stadium. Also included in the tour price is admission to the Arsenal Museum, which is definitely worth spending some time in. Much of the exhibition is interactive and it's fun to test your knowledge and look back at some of the great moments in this storied club's existence.

Went to my first Arsenal match a few weeks ago. Seemed strange to me to find this enormous stadium plunked down in the middle of a residential neighborhood. While this may not be too unusual for most, for someone who is used to Oracle Arena, Arco Arena, Staples Center, Candlestick Park - venues that are either in business districts or isolated in the middle of nowhere - it was stunning to me to be walking by homes, turn a corner, then run into this magnificent facility. While I've heard the Emirates called The Reading Room at the Emirates by rival fans for the perceived (or sometimes actual) lack of atmosphere, I found: the stadium to be quite loud with plenty of singing by the home support. This may have been because of the quality of the opponent (City) or the fact that Arsenal were playing well, but it was anything but quiet. The pricing structure is very different from American sports. Not sure if this is representative of all or the majority of UK venues, but here is how the pricing for Arsenal differs from American sports: -First, the seats further from the pitch (field) are more expensive. For example, there are three tiers of seats at the Emirates: 1) the lower tier, closest to the pitch 2) the middle tier, mostly luxury boxes or other vip seating, 3) the upper tier, the second deck or often referred to as the "nose bleed seats" in the US. The second deck seats are more expensive than the lower tier seats. That's right: you could be in the first row from the playing field and pay less than what people sitting in the last row of the upper deck pay. The reason for this is you can see so much better when you're higher up. When you're so close to the field, you can only see what's going on when the action is right in front of you. If the players are on the other side of the pitch, you can't really can't see what's happening. - Second, the matches are separated into three categories: A for attractive fixtures against the big clubs (Chelsea, United, Liverpool, City) or local rivals (Spurs), B for good matches, and C for lesser matches (Sunderland, West Brom, etc), The Category A match tickets are the most expensive, C the least. It actually makes sense. If I'm a Warrior fan, I should expect to pay more for games against San Antonio/OKC/Clips vs. going to see the Bucks or Lakers (haha). Anyway, if you're an Arsenal fan, you've got to get to the Emirates. And I suggest buying a Red membership (about $50 US) from the club, will give you a good chance to get tickets. Obviously, singles will be much easler to get than pairs in the days leading up to the match.

This stadium is at the cutting edge of sports entertainment venues. Once the football club made the decision to move from its beloved Highbury and build a new, larger stadium, it was obvious that only a clear step up would suffice. There is not a bad seat in the house. There were some complaints during the first year that the stadium felt sterile, with bare concrete walls, etc., but I believe this is explained by the fact that the main infrastructure was completed quickly in time for the first game. Over time the club has begun the process of "Arsenalisation", and this is in full force now. The interior walls and corridors are now decorated, and once the huge pictures of historical figures were displayed around the outside of the stadium last year (see pictures), the complaints ended. It's clear that it has been adopted as the club's new home by all but the most reticent of fans.

My 200th review. Yes, Ashburton Grove, you get this special honor. Or is it "honour"... From The Yard to Emirates. The American and The Brit have enjoyed many places together, many of them documented here with yelp, and one of the best was definitely at Emirates Stadium. Looking back I wouldn't have imagined Blighty gracing my reviews, especially a football stadium, but here we are. The Brit forbade me writing a review for The Emirates, but I can't help it! It deserves to be rated! Besides, if I've been sucked in now as a fan (which I think is actually fair to say), surely I can share the glory that is the Gunners! I was taken to my first game immediately upon landing at Heathrow. I'm not kidding, we left the airport and went straight to a Gunners' pub and then to the stadium. It was great. The Chicken Balti pie. The ease in getting to our seats. The fans. Hell, even the bathrooms. Seriously, as a woman, bathrooms are important and you'd never expect nice ones at a sports arena. Emirates are kind to their women folk. They've got nice toilet paper (all of England has nice toilet paper) and the bathrooms all smelled like cinnamon. Yes, I said "bathrooms"... and no, I didn't go and have a bath in them. I guess the concessions are a little pricey, but doesn't seem any different than any other sporting event arena. The stadium is a lovely structure, it really is. Great views of the pitch and it looked even more lovely when the sun beamed through during the second game I was lucky enough to attend. The fans are truly great and I fully respect the passion people have for (proper) Football. There is a grand picture of the teams throughout the years, many, many years to the present, outside the stadium. It's amazing and a wonderful creation. And the massive pictures of more recent players outside the structure are impressive. The grounds are really very lovely. The store is chaotic, full of families clamoring their way to a piece of a team that plays beautiful football. We had great customer service in easily exchanging a hat for a shirt. But, the best part of it all? The team that plays at Ashburton Grove. I sat in the cold, bundled up and warned that if they didn't win the first game I was to blame and would never be allowed to return. I sat and watched The Arsenal with The Brit. I twisted my hands in nervousness and anticipation. I watched every second. I yelled and cursed and screamed and jumped up and down when they scored. I even got to share in a hug with the guy next to me that I didn't even know. Americans don't seem to do that as much. But, we were sharing in the joy that is The Arsenal. They won. Both games. 3-0. I got to go to both games. I think I'm good luck for the Gunners.

This is a fantastic stadium! The view from nearly every seat is good, and the seats are wide AND CUSHIONED. My butt has never been so comfortable while watching a live sporting match. This was my first football game in England and being surrounded by all those Arsenal home fans had me casting a wistful eye over the red 'gunners' scarves in the merch stand... We went to a Capital One Cup match and got tickets for just £20. So if you are not a particular football fan, but want to experience a game or two, this is definitely a great way to do it. It was weird that you can't drink at your seat, but understandable in terms of general safety I suppose! One downside was getting home from the stadium, the queues outside the tube stations were so long we had to walk all the way to Angel to get on a train.

Ken Friar Bridge! Strange that the Fabregas banner is still here..

I've been watching every single Arsenal game for years now, so I've been wanting to come to London and visit the Emirates (and hopefully see Arsenal play as well!) for quite some time. I loved being here and taking the tour. Our tour guide was great! I honestly cannot remember his name, but he's been an Arsenal fan his whole life and knew more than enough about Arsenal's history. He let us wander around at our own pace so we could look at things and take pictures, but he would also move us on when the time seemed right. We originally wanted to go on a self-guided tour, but since Arsenal was going to be playing Basel the next day they were only doing guided tours, which was fine. There were many little facts and bits of information that I wasn't aware of before coming here so it was a great experience learning more about the club I love. Walking around in the tunnel, the locker room, the press room, and many other rooms is amazing. Walking out to where the pitch is located is pretty surreal. This place is huge, but it seems like every seat would be just fine to watch a football match. Unfortunately, we did not get to see Arsenal play at Home while we were in London, but we did get to see them the next week at Burnley! COYG!

Exiting following the show, it was a little frustrating because they weren't letting people use the escalators and directing people down the stairs that were a little claustrophobic and made you feel someone was going to take a tumble. But once you were out, there are plenty of routes to ensure you get to your destination... unless you are taking the Tube, which in that case, you may need to have patience. I'd heard about the rabid, evil Millwall fans, and seen them so many times away from home, and once in their old stadium as a younger lad. Not the case on the day I was here, but then the opponent was a lowly and unexciting adversary. It's a good stadium though, not as expensive as some of the others in London, by a long shot. I enjoyed my day, I was covered from the rain by the stands, I didn't get stabbed (people used to say that's what happened at Millwall games), and altogether I found it a lot more pleasant and also underwhelming than expected. I'll try it again for a much bigger game, one of these days... to see what the fuss is really about. As you can see from the pictures, it's absolutely fantastic and the atmosphere is intense, but it would be better if it filled in the corners.

It's absolutely tiny inside! You'd never imagine it's a Premier League stadium. It is pretty modern and enjoyable on the inside though. The rich owners have jazzed it up and made it like a posh little box. The crowd is absolutely intense and right on top of the field and I always feel like part of the action when I'm in here. Definitely one of the better stadiums, but the prices and the small size are the reason it's a 4. I've been to every significant stadium in UK & US, due to a lifelong obsession with travel, sport & especially footy (soccer to Americans). Born & raised in England, I followed Oxford United (hometown team) to stadia all over the country at away games, and later followed Liverpool (fave team) around. Every stadium review - like all my reviews - are based on first-hand personal experience, usually from multiple visits. In 2011, I was on music tour in the UK, visiting hundreds of stadiums for fun in my spare time. As recently as Fall 2014, when I was "stuck" in UK for 3 months, I went to most of them yet again while travelling. I have pictures of me at many of them, which I will post later. Also, when back in the UK I plan to take more pix, and add more stadia! So watch this space! *** return to regular review *** It's a little rich club with a little rabid stadium in West London. I can't give this stadium less than a 4 because it's so loud and intense and the crowd are right on top of the players, but there's no way such a tiny stadium can get a 5 for a club that should really have a bigger and grander stadium. It looks like they won't be in the Prem much longer anyway (they never usually are), but if the club won't be missed (too many London clubs, esp West London), then the stadium will and its atmosphere too. It's in White City, a great part of London that is maybe a little racially monotonous. It's just near Shepherd's Bush. I think maybe he should shave it off. It opened in 1904, and Fulham briefly played here in the 00s.

In the spring of 2002, when I was doing a semester abroad in London, I did a work study (internship) at QPR. At the time, they were in the Second Division (third tier). I had hear of QPR but didn't know much about the club. But my time there made me a fan and I'm proud to be a supporter of the R's. Now that they're back in the top flight, I had a perfect excuse to head back over the pond for a visit and to take in a Premiership match. Loftus Road Stadium is definitely a throw-back to the more modest days of the sport. Compared to Arsenal's new Emirates Stadium (review here: http://www.yelp.com/biz/the-emirates-stadium-london#hrid:nvZxRYSY_mKiQndnHx2iQw), Loftus Road is like a backyard shed. It's old, not at all modern, and for a Premier League ground, quite small. But it also has immense character, is very intimate, and incredibly approachable. One of the great things about the smaller clubs is how accessible the players are as well. If you get to Loftus Road early you can catch many of the players walking from the player parking lot into the stadium, and most of them are happy to stop to sign an autograph or snap a quick photo with you. Try doing that at Manchester United or Chelsea! QPR is a fantastic little club with an incredible history. Hopefully they'll be in the top flight for years to come. Which means I better start saving up now for what I hope can be an annual pilgrimage.

I hopped on the tube and made my way up the line. Once off I b-lined it over this way with the little remaining light the day had. To say that it is massive is an understatement. I was in awe of the size of the footprint overall and the stadium itself. To think that so many countries gathered here just a few short years ago is amazing. To me, it was beautiful. I strolled the area without any agenda. I just wanted to walk around the massive area, I honestly have no idea if I walked where I was allowed or not, I wasn't paying attention much as I was staring upwards almost the whole time. I went just about everywhere that I could. Up and down stairs, over bridges, around buildings until I think I covered it all. I would have loved to go down the slide at The ArcelorMittal, but I had gotten there too late in the day and they were already closed. It looks massive and definitely a one of a kind thing to do while here. Another thing I did while here was find the Since 9/11 WTC artwork (thanks Google Maps). I was unaware that there was a memorial of sorts to the victims of 9/11 in London. Being close to the anniversary of that day I felt as if I should visit here. It is a reminder of what happened that day and an educational tool. Tastefully done.
