Canned margarita. Comes with ice and a lime squeeze. You pour.
    Bellea M.

This review is for cocktails and facilities only. Located at the corner of W. 8th and S. Olive, this is a convenient "watering hole" for the neighbourhood. You can enter from both the street and Whole Foods Market. There is a bar, communal tables in the center or counter-like seating along the windows where you can people watch. They don't pour mixed drinks, but sell mixed cocktails that come in a can. They have alcohol behind the bar but I'm not sure if they are for display only or if they pour shots, it wasn't clear to me. Hate to say that the restrooms were not too clean. The ones in WF are waaaay cleaner and you don't need a code to get into the john. There is 90 minute validated parking, find the machine in the market.

Moscow Mule & Truffle Fries. Perfect combo.

The customer service by the bar tender is amazing! The guy was chill and friendly. I ordered a Moscow Mule and truffle fries and both were on point! The Moscow Mule is from a can which I thought was questionable but it was so good! Paired with the hot truffle fries that had a crisp outer layer and airy fluffy potato inside covered in parm and truffle made a perfect combo. I highly recommend this place! 10/10 a must try!

I like to consider myself a grocery store bar connoisseur, as I have been to very many. I'd be lying if I said I don't go out of my way to try them. While The Eight Bar definitely has some positives, it falls flat in certain aspects. Located inside of the Whole Foods in DTLA, the location cannot be beat. The ambiance is top notch, as well. Swimming in healthy, positive energy, the vibes are just right. This Whole Foods bar is particularly big, featuring a sizable outdoor patio and indoor area with plenty of space to accommodate large groups, small groups, and everything in between. So what's wrong? For one, the drinks here are pricey. $9 for a pint of IPA is a little steep for a grocery store bar. Ralph's grocery store bar, located about 2 blocks away, offers 2 beers for $4. That includes IPA too. The plus side of this place over Ralph's, is the large space, and that The Eight Bar has a lot of more beers on tap. Ralph's Cork and Tap bar only has 5-6. Another downfall of this place is that you can't buy your own beer from the market and drink it in the bar area. Whole Foods bar in Pasadena allows it, offering a cheaper alternative than buying $9 pints. This grocery store bar also doesn't have outlets for charging at the bar. The Ralph's bar around the corner does, even with USB inputs at each barstool. If you haven't been, I'd still recommend checking this place out, as it's still fun and worth it for the experience. Just watch your wallet, because this ain't your typical, cheap grocery store bar. I likely won't be back, but I did think it was worthwhile to try. The bartender said they're working on the policy to allow outside beer to be consumed in the area, but downtown LA is a lot stricter when it comes to that, which is why their current policy is in place.

I actually really like The Eight Bar and come here with some regularity. They are a hip trendy spot attached to a Whole Foods. Given that one can park in the underground parking garage and get validated versus fight the street of downtown LA for parking at another restaurant, it makes The Eight Bar very convenient. I love the beer, wine, and cocktail options - hands down, best part of this place. The food is tasty, but the selection is very limited. Service tends to be steady and consistent, although, I've had a few bartenders when sitting at the bar who did not check in very often.

    Kale Caesar Salad
    David S.

First time eating here... I ordered the Kale Caesar salad. The server was nice, however, when the salad came out it had no croutons, when I asked about them I was informed that they "ran out of croutons." A Caesar salad is only a few ingredients... I just don't understand why they thought it was ok not to tell me before bringing the salad out. The server said she went to find croutons in the store to no avail. The salad itself tasted good, the cheese (which I got on the side) tastes like flavorless wax. It had to be the cheapest version of "cheese" available. I got a refund and went to Sweetgreens.

I wish I had checked Yelp before I went here! I had no idea that there was a vegan burger here!!! I just quickly picked something off of the menu. Next time, I am definitely going to try it out next time. This place was between a three and a four. I bumped the review up because they did offer vegan options. This place is a small joint connected to Whole Foods. It's a cute restaurant that has a communal seating area. It is a good place to go with friends or a very casual meet up. They do have some TVs on playing sports. I wouldn't say it is necessarily a sports bar, but you can catch the game with your friends here. I ordered the avocado toast, which was about $8. They had the option to make the avocado toast vegan, which was nice that I didn't have to ask them to change the ingredients. The avocado toast came in about 20 minutes. It was decent. Overall, this place is a good casual spot.

Dry rubbed chicken wings - so good!
    Brittany I.

Love this casual spot to grab a drink/snack! Super convenient because it's located right beside Whole Foods so I can get my grocery shopping done too. They have a great beer selection and their food has surpassed my expectations. My absolute favorite item on the menu is their dry rubbed chicken wings. They always come out hot, fresh and crispy, perfectly salt and peppered. About 12 smaller wings and drums, which makes me happy because I usually don't love those giant chicken wings. They also serve brunch! My boyfriend had the Angeleno bowl with hash browns, pulled pork, poached eggs. Flavors were good but wish the hash browns weren't on the bottom because they got soggy. I had the fried chicken sandwich, which had a good kick. Overall I think it's a decent sandwich but I don't know if I'd order it again. They have 4-5 TVs at the bar and more mounted throughout so it's a great spot to catch games as well!

    Nice looking and good tasting.

That location shut down a few weeks later, so I took it the gift certificate to the Burbank location. After attempting to use it after ordering a ton of food and drink, they straight up told me they are not associated with the other location whatsoever and they would not honor the gift certificate. Whether that's the truth or not (I don't believe them) you have a BRAND TO PROTECT. This is what sharing a brand is! To make the cognizant decision not to honor this gift certificate is theft! When I arrived, there were only about 15-20 people ahead of me in line. As the afternoon progressed, the line stretched down the street, yet no staff member came outside to communicate capacity limits, seating availability, or where the line should reasonably end. Even more concerning, patrons were not admitted until after the match had already started. The situation quickly became chaotic. People who had waited for hours were understandably frustrated, and many were openly voicing their concerns. Groups were admitted one at a time, creating further delays. When it was finally my turn to enter, I was informed that all tables had been taken and that only standing room remained. I was allowed to look inside before deciding whether to stay. What I observed was particularly disappointing: many individuals who had not been ahead of me in line were already seated at tables. I have no idea how they got in but I suspect they were allowed in through some other entrance. After waiting more than two hours based on the information provided by the establishment, this felt unfair and misleading. Most disappointing was having invited friends to join me for the match, only to have the experience ruined by what appeared to be poor planning and inadequate crowd management. The demand for a major World Cup match should not have come as a surprise. If the venue anticipated significant attendance, additional seating, staffing, and clear communication should have been put in place. This was one of the most poorly managed event experiences I have encountered. At a minimum, I believe the ownership should publicly acknowledge what occurred and apologize to the many customers who invested hours of their time only to be left without the accommodations they were promised. I also tasted my other friends' drinks which were also not good. The raspberry beret and the peach paloma were both bitter and not pleasant tasting.   For food, the only decent thing was the buldak. It was cheesy and I liked how they infused the corn cheese into it. The chicken was good and juicy. The tteokkbokki was weird. Firstly, they didn't include the parmesan crisps as they mentioned in the menu. Secondly, the sauce was different compared to other tteokkbokki sauces I'm used to. It was dark red in color, soupy, and oily which I did not like. Thirdly, the rice and fish cakes themselves were very unique in shape. The cakes and sausages weren't that bad and the textures were good, but the sauce was just not it.  Lastly, the ramen was such a scam. For $15, it was just regular shin ramyeon with some mussels, jalapenos and peppers added. For all the food dishes, the portions were all small relative to the price and were not great for sharing in big groups.   The interior was spacious and vibes were decent. The music from the DJ booth was good. The photobooth wasn't working when we visited which was a minus because my friends and I like the photobooths. There's a free and private parking lot next to the pocha which can get filled.   Overall, not the greatest experience at this pocha mostly because of the food and drinks and I would probably not visit again.

It paired absolutely beautifully with a pint of their Bike Shed Brew. I felt like I was in London, spot on! The only thing I would add is some HP Sauce and/or Tabasco. I waited 10 years to finally check this place out and it was absolutely worth it! I'd love to bring people, my girlfriend even said it would be an amazing wedding venue, we just wish they had a better parking situation.

I went there for a friend's birthday party. The food was pretty decent. The decor was great, and…read morethey had an in-house barbershop. I ordered the Steak Nachos for $32. $22 (Nachos) + $10 (Steak). It was a generous portion. I checked the bill, and it was straight up. I gave our waitress a generous cash tip. The waiters and waitresses were great. What irked me was that, when I looked at my credit card statement, they overcharged me. It was probably because I clicked NO TIP, yet I tipped the waitress. Wow! That's disappointing. I'm never gonna take my friends here. Parking sucked, but not impossible. But you gotta walk the ladies on the darker areas of the street.
