Restaurant staff were condescending and rude. Food was over priced and mediocre. Don't waste your time or $$$ this place is horrible!

First time here and 2nd time in Van Wert and this is a real gem! Apart of a band playing at the park, they were nice enough to have a table for 6 reserved and our orders ready when we got there! The charcuterie board was really delicious and paired well with the gorgeous looking elderflower gin and tonic. Lots of great meats and cheese and the nuts went a long way to satiate while I waited for my stellar salad. Stellar shrimp chopped salad with lots of nuts and craisens with such a yummy dressing. The portions were big and the shrimps were well cooked! Our servers were great, the vibe was great and I really enjoyed my time here! read more

ambiance is great. Good for tor the location average prices. Our server was young and she seemed new.. Disappointed in my ahi supposed to be seared tuna . Look at the pic you can tell it was microwaved or leftover. The italian flat bread was good and my wife's Alfredo mushroom pasta was nothing outstanding. Was there a few weeks ago for a wedding and we stayed the night. My friend's jeweler in Van Wert recommended this place. Normally i would write this review a few weeks from now as I have other places to review that i went to before The Edition. I am reviewing this place early for two reasons: 1) My friend Deniece said I should on my check in to this place, and i said I would 2) This place is amazing!!!!! I will say I have been waiting months for The Edition to open. The owners of The Edition also own Collins Fine Foods in town, a wonderful Deli/Liquor Store that I go to quite frequently. When they told me they were going to be creating a wine bar/restaurant, i was immediately interested. I came to The Edition first on Wednesday with a number of my coworkers, we were a group of 6. We just had dinner somewhere else in town and we decided to have a little after dinner drinks. About half of us ordered beers, the other half ordered cocktails. I ordered a cocktail called The Press, which is Makers Mark Bourbon, simple syrup and bitters. I Loved It! The two other ladies who ordered cocktails had The Caliper. This drink is made with raspberry vodka, cranberry juice, simple syrup, lemon juice and fresh raspberries. I am not a fruity drink person, but even I think it looked good. They certainly sung its praises. Should have taken a picture of it... oh well... anyway my coworkers and I had a great time there! We drank, talked, laughed... just a fun night! I did notice during the night, the food they were serving and it looked very appetizing. I decided to come back with my family on the weekend. I just got back from eating/drinking with them tonight. We ordered some appetizers including some spinach artichoke dip. Cant really say if it was good or not my mother and brother ate that... i mostly was focused on The Loaded Tots. Those tots were delish!!! We all drank alcohol. My brother ordered a beer flight, my mother had a pina colada slushie. She raved about that slushie! I decided to try another cocktail and ordered The Mezzanine. It is a drink made with Tito's Vodka, St. Elder Liquor, Lillet Blanc, Lemon, and Prosecco. It went down smooth... and i can tell you i will have more when I come back. For our main courses my brother had the Whiskey BBQ Burger, while my mother and I both ordered Cuban Sandwiches. The burger according to my brother ended up on his top 10 burgers he has eaten, high praise from him. When it comes to the Cuban Sandwich... yeah it was finger lickin good! Is it 100% authentic? No. I am from Miami, I know authentic Cubanos. But, thats only because the bread is not Cuban bread. Nevertheless, the bread is tasty... and the rest of the Cubano here is authentic. They definitely nailed the pork in the sandwich perfectly! Its the best Cubano i have eaten outside of Florida. So i would recommend eating it. A great meal, needs to end with dessert. We shared some vanilla bean ice cream with chocolate chip cookies. Nice, simple and delicious! You can get this dessert with sea salt caramel cookies, which is something I will do in the future. I also have to compliment this place on its decor. It is open and inviting. There is both an inside eating area as well as an outside eating area which is right next to the small urban park we have in the city called The Garden of the Senses. I will try eating in the outdoor area next time I come. I have nothing but praise for The Edition! I am so happy and proud to have such a good bar in town! If you are in Van Wert County, come by! Heck if your in Lima or Fort Wayne... come to the Edition! It is well worth the drive! read more

Sat at the bar. Shoved in like sardines sitting way too close to strangers. Waited for ten minutes before anyone acknowledged me. New recruit they were training was pretty useless wasn't even trying to refill drinks of customers at the bar. Had the basic hamburger - not good. Chips by far better than the hamburger. Also had the Margherita flatbread- it was pretty good - however. Recap bad service, Hamburgers is bad, Flat Bread is good. Check suggesting up to 35% tip for zero service- Not impressed read more

Nice food & drink options with a pleasant atmosphere to match. Stopped in on a week nite & had a very casual chill vibe. Don't expect to swing in for a quick trip food took a while to come out. Ahi Tuna Salad portion was very generous. Server was friendly & attentive while allowing my fiancée & me to have time to enjoy each others company. Will be back read more

Great new spot in Van Wert. I would say food was good, but sure it will be great in time when they work out the kinks. Service was much better on my second visit. I do understand wait staff is in high demand, but I sat at the bar, so should not have taken quite so long to be served and receive my food. It's worth a try! read more

Very disappointed in the service at this restaurant. We made a reservation for 5:30pm for 6 people and thought they would be ready for us. Ignored us for 20 minutes. Finally took our drink orders and we said we need to order our food too because we needed to get to a show. Well it was after 7:00pm when we were finally finished. Never got an apology or never even checked on us and said it coming soon, etc. Would not recommend. read more

Visited this beautifully restored old location with two friends. Bar was wide open and an old mirrored bar back adds nicely to the total experience. We were immediately greeted and seated. Menu has great selection of new to try and old favorites. Prices were very reasonable for the size of portions. We enjoyed the fried mozzarella cheese bites and brussel sprouts prepared in a delicious way. We visited the Peony festival this week and found "The Edition". We were looking for an alternative to the carnival food at the festival and they really delivered! Although hot out the shaded courtyard was nice and our server "Lexi T" was very friendly and quick to answer questions and make suggestions. The flatbread and reuben we had were delicious and they have a nice craft beer selection. We will be back as the free friday night concerts will make Van Wert favorite destination this summer. read more

Get here early, if you don't want to be waiting....this place is pretty popular. We arrived shortly after 4pm, and chose to eat on the patio. The staff was all so friendly, and even the Manager or owner stopped by our table to ask how everything was. We had been following this place thru their FB page and ordered their Bavarian style pretzel with beer cheese, caramel apple wine slushies and Flatbread pizza. It was all great; atmosphere, staff and food. The place was immaculate, casual dress, and nice options on the menu. Such a nice gem in Van Wert, I will definitely plan another trip back. read more

You've gotta check this place out! Total surprise! I did not expect this gem in downtown Van Wert. This is something I'd expect in a much larger city. Great food. Great location. Great ambiance. Great service. I came in around 7pm and requested the outdoor seating. I was seated promptly. There was also plenty of seating available inside. The menu has a surprisingly broad selection. So refreshing to see a menu that goes far beyond bar food. Ahi Tuna, Cuban panini, Shrimp Tacos! And more. This is not what I'd expect from small town America. However, if you are searching for bar food, you won't be disappointed! Charcuterie board; Loaded Tots; Loaded Onion Rings; Flatbreads; Sandwiches; Handhelds served on Naan bread; Pastas; Salads; Kids menu; Deserts; Draft beers; Full bar. I ordered the steak bites w/ onions and mushrooms and the fried Brussels sprouts. Both are on the "Sharables" list. As I waited I ordered an amber beer. Solid selection of draft beers. My order was delivered about 10 minutes later. The food was tasty (well seasoned & to the temperature I requested) and plated well. Well done Chef! If you come on the weekend (Friday or Saturday) be ready to hear the hum (occasional roar) of "cruising" on Main Street Van Wert. For me that was nostalgic. As a new place in a small town didn't know what to expect. It was quite a surprise. Probably the best dinner place in town. Loaded tater tots, shrimp tacos and the two burgers we had were well thought out, tasted great, and were cooked just right. Our waitress, "Liz", was great and knowledgeable about the menu and their wines. All of the staff were attentive to customers and other servers stopped and took away dirty appetizer plates as they walked by the table. Keep up this type of service and you will definitely be a downtown Van Wert staple that everyone wants to enjoy. The Edition has a welcoming inside seating area that compliments the main bar well. Stopped here on our way to Cincinnati. Found this place here on Yelp. So glad we did. Surprisingly nice restaurant with a full bar and lots of menu options. I ordered the Shrimp Tacos from the shareable section. Came with a side and I chose their homemade chips. The pineapple salsa had just the right amount of heat and was yummy. My husband had the Chicken Bacon Ranch Flatbread and said it was really good. I had seen others eating yummy looking onion rings so we ordered a side of those also. Glad we did because there was a huge party that backed up their kitchen. We were informed that it would take an hour to get our food. We decided to still wait but asked if we could get the onion rings first. Our wonderful server, Diana, helped us out and also kept my husband's Mt Dew glass filled. Diana kept apologizing for the long wait but it wasn't her fault. We will stop here again when in the area! read more

As this is my first rating, I'd like to be honest. This is also the third time I came here. First time wasn't the greatest, second was way better, and this will be the third time. The service is really good, and I enjoyed their company. The drinks here are amazing. I had a raspberry vodka drink, which was the bomb. The vodka and the berries melded together really well, and with that, I will give them five stars about. On to the food. We started off with the pretzel and beer cheese. The pretzel was amazing, and combining it with the cheese just made it all the better. Me and my wife enjoyed it quite well. I ordered the custom blend burger and I added Blue Cheese to it. The burger comes with lettuce, tomato and pickle. I took off the pickle, not a fan of it, but I'll try anything. The burger itself was cooked through and done well. BUT, the second that cheese kicked in, it overwhelmed everything on my pallet, to the point where I was nearly gagging. The cheese was so pungent, that nearly all my senses was overwhelmed. It took everything I had to not be rude and spit it out. With the burger, it comes with home made chips/fries. I decided to get their tater tots because the last time I had them, it was bomb. Unfortunately this time around, it was Wal-Mart grade tater tots. No seasoning, or anything. The Ketchup was way better. After I got destroyed by that overwhelming blue cheese burger, I asked for a new one and complained about it. They gave me a new burger, but this time with swiss cheese instead of blue. I would like to say this new burger was substantially better than the first, but sadly I cannot. It wasn't gross, nor did it make me want to gag. It just tasted of nothing. Its like you know there's something in your mouth, the texture is there, but it doesn't taste of anything. Just one big ball of cheese and really nothing else. Its as if the chef was afraid to season anything at all. The pretzel we had, had more seasoning on it than anything else. The main reason why I am giving a three star review, is because of their drinks. Their drinks are amazing, and the service was fantastic. If I were to come back again, I'll only be ordering the pretzels, and drinks. Their entree's and deserts are not on my menu to order again. To give a backstory on the deserts, the last time I ordered their desert, which was the cheesecake, the crust tasted like it was soggy and sat there for a long time, and the cheesecake itself tasted like a Wal-Mart cheese cake. Nothing special about it. If you want to have a good drink, with a nice bar and dining room to sit and chill with friends, this is your place. But the food is to be desired. read more

While visiting from Texas, I was so happy to see the founder of Collins Fine Foods had started a long-awaited bar and restaurant in downtown Van Wert. When I was growing up, they were literally the only place in town to find gourmet ingredients and specialty items to make a meal go from good to great. I invited a group of family and friends to come out with my last night and we sat on the patio under the beautiful lights and cool evening breeze, but beware, that wind took out a poor pepper shaker during a gust, so be careful! LOL. We all had different items. As a Texan for the last 20 years, I had planned on trying a cocktail but quickly changed course when I saw one of my favorite beers on the menu, Shiner Bock! Loved it! The rest of our crew had cocktails and beers and everyone said their were great. The peach drink my sister-in-law had was amazing. For dinner I ordered the BBQ burger with blue cheese and coleslaw, it was delicious! My brother and sister-in-law had already eaten but they ordered the pretzel, it was huge and came with a tasty cheese dipping sauce. We had a great time, the food and drinks were great and it is truly fantastic to see such a great place in a downtown that sorely needed it! Check out the murals outside, what a great aesthetic! The inside is very classy and has a great wooden bar with a theme you might expect in a much bigger and trendier city.
