It was lunch time and my tummy was rumbling. I just happen to drive past The Eate and it looked exactly like the kind of food I felt like. It was just before 12pm and was empty. Such a great space and a large menu. I felt like something light so opted for a quarter chicken and salad. They have a salad bar with an array of different options to choose from. I was so impressed when I got my chicken. It came with a side of pickles and was presented beautifully. I got a Greek salad and a tabouli salad. Was quite hungry and didn't realise the chicken also came with pickles. I also got a side of garlic sauce. YUM. By the time I finished lunch it was 12:30 and people had come rolling in. The gyros seemed to be ordered by most and looked delicious. Will be going back next time to try. If you're in the area and feel like a gyros or BBQ chicken along with may other burger options give it a go!!!

Super secret off the menu goodness... - The Lowdown: We get to this place and check out the menu, searching high and low for ribs... Almost ordering a delicious mound of lamb off the spit, we ask the waitress "We heard you guys have ribs...?". To our shock the waitress replies "oh yeah, but its part of a meat platter which contains chicken, brisket, beef ribs, and lamb off the spit". Me and my buddy quickly respond in in sync to the waitress, "we'll get that... and some wedges... please". First up was the wedges, which reminded me of potato scallops with a twist - literally, they were twisted. These were served up with a side of smokey aioli... mmm... The main event came out shortly after, stacked with meat, topped with onion rings and sided with roast onion and green peppers. Now, the chicken was tender, the brisket was soft, the ribs were tasty AF, but good lord the lamb off the spit was so soft that you didn't even have to bite it - no joke! It was that tender!! The meat was so delicious it didn't need any condiments, however it was served up with some BBQ sauce (it'd be rude not to try) - lucky we tried it, outstanding! Big thanks to @sydneydinner for this recommendation - its a hidden gem!! - Pro Tip: Avoid the urge to start delving into the salt and pepper - no S/P needed, this was seasoned to perfection. - Cost: $58 for the platter.

The new menu marked the antecedent of a series of events planned at Andiamo Summer Hill. Each event will be transporting you on a taste journey to specific regions of Italy. 'Tavola di Luca" (Chef's Table) is the new concept headed by Chef. The influences come from Sardinia, where Luca grew up in the South of Italy. It was the perfect debut to long time Summer Hill diners as the 6 course degustation of Sardinian dishes had personal ties with Chef Luca's grandparents and mother. All courses were accompanied with wine from Sardinia, immersing diners completely into this style of cuisine which has deep roots in agropastorality. Thin wafers are a staple in the Sardine antipasti, so the lead-in basket of Carasau Bread with fresh tomato of crisp textures and natural tomato flavors sets the tone together with the cured Pork fillet with Rocket & Apple. This was a beautiful pairingwith the caramelized sweetness in the Antichi Poderi Jerzu - Vermentino di Sardegna wine accompanying this. Perfectly rounded off with sips from the Maccori grapes treated with the strong mistral winds blowing in from the north-west Mediterranean. The primi (appetiser) of hand made pork sausage and fennel seeds requires no sauce. It's natural juices bathe in its spiral construction allowing the meat and herb to intertwine beautifully. This represents the epitome of Sardinian style cooking. No sauce required - keep things real! The island of Sardinian cuisine wouldn't be complete without seafood. Baby clams are served with hand rolled Fregola Risotatta - the perfect example of Mediterranean and Italian fusion in which this island has strong influences. There are many many versions of this dish throughout Sardinia. Native only to Sardinia, it's somewhere in between risotto and pasta taking the form of 2mm beads. Nice earthy brothe paired with the floral fruitiness of the vermin to grape wine. The heart of our meal came with the Secondi (Main) pork roast. A world famous signature of the islands, it is served in the chicory plant, absorbing that subtle woody flavour into its meat, rounded off with sips of the warmth from the Bantu annonau wine. Dessert blends orange zest, ricotta and corbezzolo honey into a centre of crisp pastry and accompanied with In Fudu moscato. This is an excellent finale to a region not focused on as much in the mainstream.

The rocket salad had fresh greens but very little rocket and wasn't peppery, in the middle of a pandemic causing supply chain issues this is fine but I wished I'd ordered the Mediterranean salad instead. Pizza was good, could have been cooked slightly longer and had less cheese. Beautiful pinot grigio by the glass. Only disappointing item was the Mojito cocktail, at $17 you'd expect some kick, not sure if it had any spirits at all. I had to pay cash for my coffee to sit outside in the sun as the outdoor tables have separate service rules, but it was lovely and the woodsmoke made it smell like Europe.

Offering panoramic Botany views to La Perouse and Kurnell, this bustling Grand Parade cafe specialises in understated and contemporary cool. Friendly and relaxed with a touch of sophistication, the outdoors have been brought inside by the understated green and neutral palette and abundance of potted and hanging plants. The new Mediterranean and European inspired menu stretches from breakfast to small and larger sharing plates, substantial salads, pasta, burgers and steak. But we have one thing on our minds when we smell the wood-fired oven from up the road: pizza. Two cocktails straight up while we peruse the menu: an elderflower spritz and a gin delight. Fresh and zesty aperitifs from the bountiful upstairs bar. We share a pizza capricciosa and the tempura oyster pillows with coriander yoghurt and salmon roe for entree. The pizza is wood-charred and beautifully puffy and crisp with a generous lathering of topping. The oysters are elegantly presented and moreish, with the sweet pop of fish roe to freshen the palette. The baby back pork ribs with sticky toffee basting is served with a side of steakhouse chips. The marinade is irresistibly sweet and the only thing holding the pork to the bone. We don't even need the usual rib provisions of wet towels as the meat morsels fall straight onto our fork. The BBQ grilled lamb and chicken breast skewers arrive with the perfect accompaniment, flat bread, cucumber yoghurt and a well dressed salad and chips. The Mediterranean inspired herbs deliciously coat the lean, succulent and perfectly cooked skewers. This is a very generously portioned meal. Neptunes utilises their new wood oven for dessert and we taste a house favourite: caramelised banana wood-fired donut with vanilla custard, banana, roasted white chocolate, caramel sauce and vanilla ice cream. Definitely for those with a sweet tooth, the donut was beautifully crunchy and stuffed full of smooth custard. The chocolate lava pudding cake with crushed honeycomb vanilla ice-cream and berries was rich and decadent. We were excited to see a gush of chocolate lava and the tart berries provided a perfect balance to the sweetness of the ice cream. Service at Neptunes is warm and attentive with friendly and knowledgeable maitre'd and wait staff. The refurbishment includes an open galley kitchen and bar. Perfect for families and functions, Neptunes boasts a variety of menu options and is entirely ready for a busy seaside party season. Book now to enjoy the best from this great venue.

We tried the full service restaurant experience a year ago. Shish kebabs cooked over charcoals, freshly made breads with dips and salads . . . yum. More recently we tried their takeaway service and ordered three pides that were the best we've had in a couple of years. They were well cooked with tasty bases and fresh subtly flavoured ingredients. The turkish sausage was particulary good but it's hard to single out an individual ingredient as they were all so well balanced. Matee, like many Newtown eateries, is a family run business and the service has that level of warmth and attention without being cloying or intrusive. And they took special care with our allergy-specific requirements - that always adds points for me.

I only popped in for a quick snack - falafel, chips and garlic sauce - somewhat astounding the patriarch of the joint with my small order; "ONLY one falafel and chips??" Probably not something they're used to given the many large platters I saw being carried out whilst I ate. But despite my odd order, these guys went above and beyond plating it up with a small pile of salad, pickles and tahini sauce. These guys knew what I needed even before I did; the perfect palate cleanser after that delicious fattiness! The falafel was little disappointing; a bit dry and sadly not reheated but the chips were freshly fried in that perfect, chicken shop style - a mixture of soft and crispy with a sprinkling of chicken salt. The garlic sauce? Thick, creamy, and enough garlic to make sure everyone in a 5km radius will smell you coming. I smelt like garlic and smoke the rest of the day, and boy was everyone jealous!
