I was greeted and seated almost immediately. I gave my order and enjoyed a beer while waiting for the meal to be prepared. Fried chicken was excellent, onion rings were mediocre but better than frozen. After the meal, I enjoyed a generous portion of bread pudding which was dense and delicious. Prices are a bit high, I noticed one filet of catfish was more than twenty dollars with two filets being almost thirty! Yikes! Alcoholic beverages are aggressively priced with stratospheric prices for local wines. C'mon! Be reasonable! I would return but would clutch my wallet tightly!

I wasn't overly optimist when we got there. The bar and grill had more of a bar feel than a grill feel and didn't seem overly clean, and we were the only people in the place the entire time we were there. The burger made up for it though! Juicy and cheesy with fresh veggies and a tasty bun. They have a burger, a double, a triple, and one with 4 patties!! The American cheese made it just perfect. Onion rings were good, nothing too special but nice and crunchy.

There is a roomy dining area above and another on entry where there is also a small bar area. Ordering is at the counter from a wall menu. Lots of variety of burgers. We got fried pickles, a chicken sandwich, a burger and a patty melt with onion rings. The patty melt was buttery and nicely prepared. Total for 3 with 2 drinks and the appetizer was about $75 with gratuity. I would image this could be quite a rocking venue on a Friday or Saturday night. Good for family dining or meeting up with friends. Parking onsite is generous. Definitely a Texas vibe if you find yourself in the area!

Alright, while we're talking wings, we need to talk about Sauced Wing Bar in Boerne…read more This place is legit. First, the wings are HUGE. They're clearly using jumbo wings, and you immediately notice the difference. Crispy on the outside, juicy inside, and they don't disappear under all the sauce. Speaking of sauce, I have no idea how many they have. 10? 15? 5,000? There are enough that every time I come in, I try something different--and I have yet to find one that disappoints. What really separates Sauced from a lot of wing places, though, is that they're actually doing the work. Everything is homemade and prepared from scratch in the kitchen, and you can taste it. The atmosphere is fantastic. Plenty of TVs, plenty of staff, and everyone seems to know exactly what they're supposed to be doing. The team is attentive, friendly and genuinely seems happy to be there. As someone who has spent a lot of years in restaurants, I notice that stuff. I've eaten a lot of wings. I make a pretty damn good wing myself. But when somebody does it better, you give them their flowers. Sauced Wing Bar in Boerne does wings better.

Even on a Monday the restaurant was full.

I didn't catch our waitress's name, but she was very attentive and fun. The burger I got was the Hangover, which lots of places have now, but this one was a little different in that it had hash browns, an egg, and bacon. The hash browns were a really nice addition. I added an extra patty and upgraded to the jalapeno cheese bun. It normally comes on TX toast which I think would be equally tasty. Not the absolute best burger I have had, but it was solid! I doubt you'd be disappointed, but not sure you would say this is the new heavyweight champ. The onion rings were very good. Sweet potato fries were a little lacking. Wife for the BLT...awesome with a solid amount of bacon, and my mom got the Rueben and it was as good as any I have had. Cool spot, add it to your list!

Then, when he got sick and had to change it to Monday, we idiots did not look to see if it was open that day. We were driving out to Pipe's Creek to check on my trailer, so he looked online for restaurants in the area that were open and found Jo Mama's. After a quick look at the menu, we decided it was worth a try. They had several specialty burgers that all sounded good, so we stopped in. The dining room is tiny, but you do have the option of eating in Chubby's bar next door. We stayed in the dining room. The people working at the restaurant were all super nice and helpful. I ordered a bacon and blue cheese burger with a side of sweet potato fries and an extra cup of their homemade blue cheese dressing for dipping. My son ordered the Frito pie burger with tater tots. We also both ordered sweet tea, which was actually bottles of Gold Peak. My son did surprisingly well with his burger. It was super loaded with chili and thus super messy. After he had scarfed the burger down, he had a full serving of Frito pie on his plate. He said the chili was awesome. The tots however were just "okay". My burger was amazing. The patty and bread were the perfect match. The bacon was thick and crispy. Everything came together to make it really delicious. But, if I'm honest, the highlight of my meal was the sweet potato fries. They were nice and crispy. But, what put them over the top was a generous sprinkle of sugar, cinnamon, and vanilla powder. That combination was positively addicting. I blindly ate all of them, which is very unusual for me. I normally eat about 6 or 8 fries and give the rest away. I visit my trailer to check on it after major storms and when I haven't camped as much. Plus I go to Pipe Creek to hook it up for trips and bring it back for storage. I'm pretty sure there will be a hamburger in my belly every time I go there in the future. I want to work through the menu and try the others. Why? Just because they are there, and after eating one of them, I know the rest are going to be awesome, too.
