I have never been disappointed in how they conduct their business on my behalf. Before meeting Steve I tried several of the "big boys" in San Diego. They all were completely lacking in what I was looking for. After all is it so hard to expect a phone call back in a reasonable time from? Is a consistent monthly management report of my properties a problem for a management company? I wish I could use the names of the tree companies I tried over 6 years, but it would really serve no purpose. SD Rentals is a great company to work with. They are responsive to the tenants, that keeps us all happy, but have always been loyal to me the landlord. SD Rentals monthly flat fee has been a blessing. I always know how much they charge, and never have to try a figure fee out. I have never had a problem with the vendors they use. Actually I did once last year, but Steve jumped right in and straightened the invoice out. I live in Arizona, but have referred at least five or six of my investor friends to Steve and SD Rentals. Keep up the good job, and I'll keep the referrals coming.

However as we arrived to the Condo - the lockbox numbers were faded and that made it very difficult to open. Once I got inside the couch was not put together - the cushions were on the dinning table and part of the cover zipper was broken, again not that big of a deal but I hoped they would not want to charge me for that. In the pictures for the condos they show a stackable washer and dryer but do not specifically state that they are not available in all condos -- this particular one did not have it in the unit. It would have been nice to know that this location was right in the path of the airport, we would hear the planes every 20 minutes or so. While the unit was clean, I was surprised that the only place to put my clothes away was the closet. This unit had no dresser to put away any other clothing. When staying in a condo I was expected to have somewhere to put things. The unit also had no a/c, another thing that would have been nice to know. I knew the area had only street parking and that was fine, the kitchen was old but clean, the drawers did stick & the coffeemaker had no filters. Also not all the windows had screens and 2 that did have screens were ripped -- which made it a little more difficult the cool down the Condo without an air-conditioned. So would I stay there again - probably not.

They leave their tenants maintenance issues unresolved and completely ignore any sort of correspondence. I requested servicing for my ac unit as I have a newborn in my home and they failed to reach out to a technician for my issue until MONDAY after I called them even though I had submitted the order on Thursday. There's an upcoming heatwave hitting the city this week and after numerous phone calls TODAY to the company they've still FAILED to even respond. This newest issue is on top of a previous garbage disposal request that took over a month to be noticed by them and even then no one came out to see it but they had the audacity to charge me for servicing and refuse to acknowledge any of the emails that I've sent them to remove the charge. I also had someone come and inspect the unit for black mold in June and absolutely nothing was ever followed up with,but the technician had left all of my belongings from the affected area scattered around and I had to personally put away those items a month after that visit with no resolve. These issues are compounded by having to have 21 year old appliances replaced in the unit, including a completely rusted out ice machine in the freezer as well as a toilet in the master bathroom that was broken before even moving in. The apartment was completely filthy upon move in as they very clearly did not send in a cleaning crew and I had to personally clean the apartment with zero follow up from them. This company does NOT care about their tenants.

When I stated that the AC needed to be repaired as soon as possible, he immediately snapped at me and told me, in an aggressive and belittling manner, that he would determine what needed to be fixed ASAP and that it was not my place to say. At that point, I became extremely uncomfortable. My husband was not home, and I was there with my two daughters. Because of his demeanor, tone, and the way he was speaking to me inside my own home, I asked that he leave and made it clear that I did not consent to having him return to perform work in our home. Despite my request that the interaction end, the situation continued to escalate. When I refused to sign off on a repair list and reiterated that I did not want him returning to my home, he accused me of raising my voice and stated that he was not going to take "this shit" from me -- in my home and in front of my children. That was completely unacceptable. A tenant should never feel intimidated, belittled, or unsafe when dealing with someone who has been brought into their home in a professional capacity. Regardless of any disagreement about repairs, there was absolutely no justification for speaking to me that way, particularly after I had already expressed that I was uncomfortable and asked him to leave. This was one of the most unsettling interactions I have ever had with someone who was presented to me as a professional. I will not allow Dean Thatcher back into my home, and based solely on my personal experience with his conduct, professionalism, and communication, I absolutely cannot recommend this company.!

At every step, I felt like the inconvenience to me was treated as an afterthought instead of the direct result of an emergency in the property they manage.
