On my most recent extended weekend in the Bay Area, I stayed at The Dylan and was pleasantly surprised. I'll just say - don't judge a book by its cover. I went in, not expecting much because of the nightly cost which I will admit, I was looking for a deal, as I was just spending one night there which meant I basically needed a place to store my things, lay my head and shower the next morning as I was back on the road, back to Southern California. Even when checking in, I wasn't thinking I was going to like the place but when I opened the door to the room, I was blown away. Though not spacious like some of the rooms I stay in when I travel internationally, I immediately regretted not booking this hotel on some of my previous trips to the Bay Area. Not just the nice room and amenities, it's location and price is why I'll book there again when I visit the Bay Area again. Check the map for the location. Check my photos for the room and go online and see the prices for yourself. It's right next to the train tracks but I didn't hear much of anything. The only noise I heard was the trash trucks in the morning while I was already awake. The place is still being remodeled but I hope the prices don't go up when it's done. Decent hotel trying really hard to be hip. It would probably get an extra star if the walls weren't so dang thin. You hear every bonk, every TV show, every crying baby, every car alarm. Make sure you pack your ZzzQuil. The benefits to staying here are there's a few decent places to eat within walking distance. Another annoyance is having to be buzzed in every time you want to come back inside. The people that work behind the counter are pretty nice. I discovered this gem after checking in to a nearby hotel (using the term loosely). The room I escaped before finding a wonderful oasis of calm and relaxation at the Dylan was the worst experience I've had in a hotel. The people in the adjacent room were banging on my doors and generally made me feel I needed to get out. So I did. First time I've done that so it was pretty bad. I did a quick search of availability for last minute room for one night. Found The Dylan and it was the best move ever. Kind, efficient, friendly people and amazing decor. This was a great bargain/luxury motel experience, perhaps my first ever. It's a very short distance from the airport, it was very well priced, way below most hotels either in the city or even in San Mateo which makes this a rare find. It's also close to a beautiful little town called Burlingame where I had dinner most nights. I would stay here again and again for the same price. The only reason I give it four stars is because in their website they don't quite disclose it's a motel and I discovered it upon arrival. So you do hear people walking around outside at night and that something you wouldn't necessarily here at a hotel. But besides that point everything about this boutique motel is excellent. read more

When I first came in it was 5:00am in the morning. I get that I'm early and that pretty much every hotel is sold out including the Dylan. I don't write many reviews, you either need to be exceptional or severely disappointing. The front desk lady let me in, which I thought was nice because the door system was a little tricky, especially not being fully awake. She greeted me in a normal manner and I asked if there was a possibility of early check in. She said there is and she mentioned housekeeping would be coming in around 7:30am. She will know more around then. She said I am welcome to have breakfast, which was moderately ready. I saw a few people check out while I sat in the breakfast room. I checked around 7:10am, there was another fellow with a European accent and I asked again how the possibility of getting an early check in was looking. Again, not surprising because of the sold outs everywhere in the city and by the airport, there were no rooms available and a superior room was booked for later, the only empty clean available room. I read that this same fellow upgraded someone else and even though this was a no show room, this fellow didn't seem interested in upgrading me. I asked how they would let me know when a room was ready, as I really want to get some sleep taking the redeye from Hawaii. He said the same way as other hotels . I replied that they usually text or call me. I know that's not what this hotel does (I didn't say that to him, it just didn't seem that way from his reaction or the other lady's reaction). I felt that was a little snooty for early morning when a guest is super tired off a long flight. Just a note: I personally was not rude or sarcastic with them. He ended up being a little more helpful after, except I was already a little turned off by his sarcasm of, "you don't want a dirty room do you?" I had replied, "no, I don't." I wonder if he ended up seeing what they could do because he shifted in his behavior and found someone two people who would be cleaning the second floor instead of the first floor person who would be arriving at 8:30am. That's the reason for the two star review verses the one star review. I was just doing my best for 7:00am after landing at 4:30am to get in early and before anyone else should a new guest arrive. I'll keep you posted if anything changes as this is just my arrival review. So far, underwhelmed, even with the bright decor when you first arrive. Current mood: bleh. Okay, those maids were really nice when I arrived at the room, that was wicked fast and I do appreciate the fact I got in early. Upped my review by one more star. read more

Great little boutique hotel near SFO located not far from the train station! Bed was comfy, the room was clean, the breakfast was tasty in the morning and there was a good selection of cheeses and meats for the low carb person. They even have a user friendly espresso machine. The really nice guy at the front desk even arranged a shuttle to the airport for me the next morning. I highly recommend this place! Super cute! read more

My family flew into SFO late at night for my grandmother's 100th birthday party. My mother insisted that my family stay in a hotel near the airport instead of driving to the city to stay with friends and made us a reservation at the Dylan. From the outside it is nothing much, but when we got to the room we were pleasantly surprised. It is a really nice clean room with great beds and pillows(good pillows are important!). It's as nice as any large hotel, with a mini fridge in the room, big TV etc. The front desk service was very nice, even at 11:30pm, and even remembered my mom, who called to make the reservation. Best part of the stay was the great FREE breakfast! Mini omelettes, hard boiled eggs, toast, bagels, English muffins, OJ, coffee, hot cocoa, oatmeal, bacon, breakfast potatoes, and WAFFLES! Make your own delicious waffles. I don't normally eat wheat but these waffles were delicious. My daughter was delighted that they had Nutella too. We'd definitely stay here again! read more

We loved our room. It was nicely remodeled. The bed was comfortable. The bathroom was small, but still really nice and efficiently made use of the small space. The stand up shower was great too. The reason why this place is getting 4 stars and not 5 is because the room didn't have a fridge or microwave. We brought back take out so we could have Thai Food for breakfast, but there was no fridge to store our food. Other than that, we would definitely stay here again. It's one of the nicer places we've stayed in because it's newly remodeled. read more

The main complaint for this hotel seems to be the location. However for us, the location couldn't be better. The hotel is removed from the hustle and bustle of sf traffic, yet in short driving distance to almost anything you could want. Not to mention it's conveniently located right next to the sfo airport. Pros Parking is straight forward, no need to valet or park at a diff structure. It's right in front of the hotel 100% the reason I chose the hotel. With two small children, I need to be able to conveniently get things from the car without going through valet, or walking a quarter of a mile. Very modern rooms and facility. They were able to make much more of the 300sf room than larger chain hotels. The room feels roomy and well throughout. Free breakfast and espresso machine for at the lobby, makes amazing espressos. It's Nespresso so you know it's the good stuff. Easy access to all surrounding eateries. Nice hot shower with good pressure. Cons Need more towels in the room, 2 isn't enough. I think that's it for cons We will def be staying here more often when traveling to sf. I'm so glad we Tried this place out instead of the usual Marriott. read more

I love this place! It's conveniently located near the airport, and the BART/CalTrain is literally a two minute walk away. My first time in SF was 5 years ago with family. My sister had booked this place and ever since then this place has stuck in my arsenal of hotels to stay at in the future. It's been renovated since then and it's even better than what I remember in regards to interior decor. It looked like an outdated hotel/motel 5 years ago. Anyway, fast forward to my most recent stay at The Dylan. I decided to book a trip here with my boyfriend of 8 years. He's never been to SF and I had always promised I would take him, so what better way to celebrate our anniversary (4/20, ayeee) than to explore SF! I almost booked at the Aloft hotel only because The Dylan had no rooms available, but luck was on my side. Hallelujah! My doubt with booking with Aloft led me to re-check for availability at The Dylan and there was one room left. I nabbed it right away! Just FYI, my boyfriend and I are living that broke college student type of life, so I really had to plan and budget. Well, I can't really say I had to plan, this trip was a last minute idea and I was able to compare prices within a few hours, simply because I knew I wanted this hotel. Either that or I'm mildly an impulse buyer, what can I say. Anyway, I was able to bundle my hotel + airfare costs for under $700. Shoutout to Orbitz.com. I booked 2 nights at this hotel along with 2 roundtrip tickets, which is pretty good for someone who has never planned a trip (short-term or long-term, domestic or international). I earned a pat on the back. That's besides the point, back to the hotel review, here are the reasons why I will continue to come back to this hotel when I decide to return to SF in the future: - located conveniently near the airport - free shuttle transportation to and from the airport - BART/CalTrain is literally a 1-2 min walk away - Free continental breakfast from 6am-10am - front desk is very helpful Ladies and gents, free breakfast may not be a big deal breaker when it comes to booking a hotel, but let me tell you it's a hell of a plus for us broke college students ballin' on a budget. Free breakfast = less likely to get hungry throughout the day = less spending. As for the shuttle, when we had touched base in SF I had called the front desk to request for a shuttle to pick us up. I also didn't know how to get of the airport or where to meet the shuttle, but all my questions were kindly answered by the front desk. It did take a while for the shuttle to arrive but I didn't mind. Oh and not to mention, the beds and pillows are SOOO comfortable. We slept well and it made me forget about the stress accumulated from my homework that was due that night. Oops. If you want to know where we went in SF, we made sure that we would follow a route that didn't require much backtracking, since we were mostly on foot (also make sure to have change on you, some of the public transportation only takes exact change): 1. We arrived at 730..ish last night after a 20+ hour trip from Indonesia. Our Uber driver dropped us off at the front door but we couldn't see the sign. Walking in to the reception desk, Lajos (last name redacted) Took several minutes to respond to us. He didn't give the customary "welcome to the ****) he just stood there and stared at us until I asked him if this was the Dylon... his customer oriented response was "I don't know, do I need to go outside and look at the sign?" Strongly taken back by this, I had no words. My wife explained to him that we were arriving from a long trip and didn't need joking or whatever he was doing. Still no customer care response as in "what is the name for check in" I finally asked him if he wanted my details and I received another smart arse response. Attempting to somehow develop a personal interaction with him, I asked where he was from... his response "China" as he is looking at my wife who is Asian. (I am white and he is clearly not Asian) at this point all hope is lost. Continuing to try and talk to him, I asked him if the restaurant 100 feet away was good, he looks at me and says in another smart arse tone "I don't know, I don't go that far". The rest of the check in continues in this fashion until we get our key and leave for the room. In 40 yrs of travel across the US and 3 continents, I have never experienced this amount of ridicule, racism towards my wife, clear unprofessional response and general bad attitude. Had it not been so late I would have cancelled and gone to a different hotel. The place was clean, room was nice but the front desk removed any sort of pleasant experience. I'm rating this on the hotel its self and the service received. Fist was check in. Was easy. EXCEPT for the smug skinny rude Frenchman(assuming French sounded French) who checked me in. The rest of the staff was quite pleasant. Received the keys. The room was much much better than anticipated per some of the reviews here. Everything seemed new and perfectly clean. Beds were amazingly soft as well as the pillows. Carpet seemed new and was clean. Shower was spotless with very nice tile and glass door. Free breakfast was top notch. Cold boiled eggs, Make your own waffles(cinch to make) cereal, beagles, toast, fruit, yogurt, OJ, apple juice, coffee. Couldn't ask for much more from a feed yourself breakfast. Parking was an issue as many stated. In general area there were tons of places to eat. Mostly Asian. As this seemed to be the city demographic. We at at Pete's cafe across the road. It was fairly OK with HUGE portions. Easy walking to what seemed endless places to choose from. Was right next to Bart and the train. But at the end of the trip. Either we lost a phone or it was taken by house keeping. We think it was house keeping. But we should have had our things accounted for. So I don't blame them. its a touchy subject. This is a rather delayed review. We were up there for a weekend in early January of 2020. Had high expectations for this place, but simply put, they just didn't perform. 1. TRANSPORTATION: They market that they have free shuttling available. This sounded SUPER convenient- that is, the shuttle we called for missed us and shuttle we called for again thirty minutes later "couldn't find us" and left us. So about an hour after our landing, I am still sitting with 20+ people by the little AIRPORT SHUTTLE section outside of my airline. I call back, frustrated (and rightfully so when I see shuttles come and go and none of them is for the Dylan) and all I get is: " I have tried calling the driver and he is not picking up his phone. It will be another 30 minutes. Sorry." I must have sounded very angry or maybe she realized how ridiculous this request was to wait (I would have waited for an hour thirty if I waited for the third shuttle attempt), she let us Uber to the hotel and she paid us back. 2. ESTABLISHMENT: Calling The Dylan a hotel is a generous statement; it's a newly remodeled motel. Small parking lot outside, small check-in desk and lobby area. The rooms are a bit tight in space as well. Hotel breakfast had some options: make your own waffle station, hash brown / eggs, dry cereal, apples, oranges, and toast options- all available from 6:30 (?) til about 10am. 3. CUSTOMER SERVICE: In addition to aforementioned issue with transportation, we had couple eyebrow-raising incidents. We called the front office to see if they had any toothpaste, and we were told, "You come down to the front." I wasn't sure if this was the norm or if they were busy, but the man hung up shortly afterwards. We also requested a late check-out and we were told that we were cleared to check out at 1pm. Imagine my surprise when housekeeping opened the door to come clean at 12:30pm. I'm glad we were dressed and had our additional lock in place. Location is somewhat convenient, but might opt for other establishments next time we are in town. read more

The Dylan is a great hotel. Very welcoming, helpful, & friendly staff. Clean, non-smoking facility. We stayed in a comfortably furnished deluxe room. Nice touches like reusable water bottles to use during the stay & a water filling station in the lobby. I appreciated the UCSF patient discount I received as I was staying after getting treatment. I was concerned about possible noise due to being near SFO & the BART & Millbrae CalTrain station, but my concern was unfounded. The only issue was that the tv malfunctioned. The wifi was weak according to our devices, so perhaps that was part of the issue. Staff came to our room twice to try to resolve the issue, but with minimal success. We were eventually able to watch live tv, though the guide wouldn't work so we had to flip through each channel. We'd hoped to be able to use the casting feature. Overall a wonderful hotel & I've booked another room there for next month when I get treatment at UCSF again. read more

The Dylan is very convenient. It is close to the airport & if you don't want to drive it is very close the the BART station. Parking is free if you're driving. It also has several restaurants & drugstores nearby. We had the standard room which is pretty small, but very clean & modern looking. Their daily free breakfast is great...cold & hot options. The staff was super friendly & there was always a welcoming plate of cookies at the front desk. If you're a late sleeper this place is not for you. Housekeeping is on the ball, sometimes before 8:00 am. The walls are a bit thin. We could hear a baby crying next door the morning we left. Luckily, we always wear earplugs to sleep when we travel just for such an occasion. Overall, a pleasant stay. read more

Im a pretty picky person when it comes to hotels. And I really really liked this hotel. REALLY REALLY liked it. The lobby was so cute, and they had a really cool machine that shoots out espresso/hot chocolate/coffee/cappuccino, and all you can get. It was really clean, and just over all accommodating. Had nice robes, plenty of towels, a cute vanity and a cute little record player. The staff were really nice and I also appreciated them not hurrying us to kick us out. The ambiance was really nice and the rooms have such a cute quirky touch. I will absolutely be coming back. They also allowed 1 o clock check out witch was a super PLUS. read more

We had a pleasant stay at The Dylan. Upon checking in, Charde was so helpful and kind. The phone was ringing off the hook and she took it in stride and handled herself well. I was more surprised at the lady sitting in the office behind Charde clicking away at the computer instead of manning the phones or helping. Nonetheless, Charde took care of us. The room itself was modern and clean. The beds were super comfy with lots of pillows. The room had a safe, iron and ironing board, hair dryer, a little coffee maker with mugs that branded their name (cute), a small desk and flat screen tv with cable. The pros of The Dylan were: -Free parking -Free wifi -Free breakfast (which had a variety of things! Boiled eggs, scrambled eggs, potatoes, sausage, toasts, English muffins, cheeses, ham, cereals, OJ, a waffle maker!, Nutella and powdered sugar, maple and blueberry syrup, oatmeal packages, yogurt cups, granola, white rice? (Lol not sure what that went with but it was fresh cooked in a rice cooker). I may have missed a few little things but that's the gist of it. -24 hour nescafe vending machine that made excellent coffee (latte, mocha, cappuccino, decaf drip, regular drip coffee and hot chocolate (a plus for the kiddos!) -Free help yourself cookies on the counter upon checking in. Location was great too! Only less than 2 miles from SFO. Chipotle, Walgreens, a coffee shop (forgot the name) and Lucky (grocery store) directly across the street. Adjacent to the hotel was a Japanese restaurant and a Chase bank also a Nothing Bundt Cake store. Down the street by the freeway was an in n out and Panera. There's also downtown Burlingame about 3 miles away which I got to check out and it was super cute with lots of stores (BevMo, Walgreens, Philz coffee shop, a florist (the blooming vase which was such a cute place) and many more shops. read more

This place is great. It seems to be a very old hotel, akin to the old Travel Lodge brand based on floor plan. But the similarities stop there. It is highly renovated and upgraded with really nice rooms. The free breakfast in the morning and free parking is also a plus so close to the airport. My review is based off of my experience with the front desk staff. In particular, a guy I spoke with. I don't know his real name, because he lied and gave me a fake one. "Brian" I booked a room for my mom whom was supposed to have a last minute lay over. This was around 7am. I found out that flight was cancelled due to weather and the next day she was flying direct to Seattle, instead of the lay over in SF. I called the hotel to cancel around 2pm-ish. "Brian" who answered the phone spoke a mile a minute, was short tempered, rude, kept repeating "we have a 24 hour cancellation policy." I was thinking, but I have called within 24 hours of booking. I get what he was trying to say now, but at the time, he had ZERO desire and patience in trying to help me. He talked SO FAST! That even if he spoke clear, articulated English, I'd still have a problem understanding him. However, he's got a think accent. It was impossible trying to follow what he was telling me. (I'm half Asian, meaning half my family speaks English with an accent. Not knocking down accents) At one point in my frustration in getting help from him, I asked to speak to his supervisor/manager. He said HE was the manager. Really?! I asked for the Hotel's General Manager. He said, HE was the GM. I asked, "So.. you're the manager of the entire hotel?" He insisted he was. Instructed me to call booking.com to see if they could help me. So, I did. They called him back to see if he could do anything about this. It's left to the Hotel's discretion on how they want to handle these things. The guy at booking.com called me back and said that "Brian" was going to release the room and try and book it. That he felt confident that he could since the hotel was booked with the exception of that room. I received an email from Booking.com the next morning that I "no-showed" what?! I called the hotel for an update. I found out that there's no front desk guy named "Brian" that the guy who worked the desk when I called was not the GM. And now, I'm pretty sure he didn't release that room for booking, just to spite me. Else, why would I get a "no-show" email from booking.com?! He lied about his name, title and I'm pretty confident he lied about trying to assist me with my issue. I talked to Anna, while pleasant on the phone, not able to assist me and she gave my call to her manager Myra. At one point in Myra's explanation of their policy, she dropped that the front desk guy was her friend. (Uh, oh) not good for me, I knew then that she had already made her mind up and she was going to protect her friend. She made it sound like he was trying to help me, (which he wasn't) totally skimming over the fact that he was rude, dismissive and a liar. I asked her, "so there's nothing you can do to help me with this, even as customer service accommodation?" She gave me a firm "no" I then asked what the cancellation fee is. The entire price! $300 (Gulp!) I tiredly replied, "maybe I'll contact my bank and try to contest the charge there..?" She gave me a curt, "Thank you for calling Dylan Hotel and have a nice day" then hung up on me. read more

Very rude unprofessional staff in the lobby. I ordered food on doordash because I had surgery very recently and it's very difficult for me to go out right now especially because I can not wear a mask at the moment. I've never had a problem with doordash dropping off food outside my door. The guy at the desk held my food at the lobby, I have two small children so it always takes me a minute to do anything, by the time I received my food it was cold. I expressed that I was upset to the man at the desk he didnt seem to care and argued with me instead, telling me over and over that he didnt care and pretty much it's my problem. I felt discriminated because of the way I was dressed(sweatpants and big sweatshirt). I asked to have his name I didnt catch it, he just kept arguing that it's a family owned business and that pretty much my complaints dont mean shit. I've never have experienced such a rude worker. Sometimes mere words are not enough- I'd give this wonderful place and every member of the staff a Million Stars if it were possible. I was evacuated from my home in Boulder Creek on August 18th due to the fires, and knew immediately that my old home-town of Millbrae was where I needed to be. Had stayed at the Dylan previously, so e-mailed Tina, the owner about reserving a room. She got in touch immediately, and said that a room was waiting for me, at a special rate- and included pets if I had them with me. ( Had made arrangements with friends for my cat ). The room was wonderful- with a mini fridge, safe, TV and DVD player, a large wardrobe closet and iron and ironing board. Plus, a fantastic balcony looking out onto the Mills Estate's hills. The housekeeping checked in every day, and the room was always immaculately clean on my return. Being at the Dylan, provided me with an oasis of calm in the first two weeks of not knowing whether my home survived or not. Found out finally that my house did make it, and will be returning on the 16th of September. Have so much appreciated making friends with everyone at the Dylan. Lyos, at reception is a really great guy, and Tina is an incredibly nice person. But, that goes for the entire staff. Millbrae, and Burlingame will forever have a big part in my heart, and now the Dylan is a huge part of that as well ! read more

UPDATE: The Dylan Hotel refunded us completely. I am so glad they are not taking advantage of this chaos. I will definitely book with them in the future. Thank you Dylan Hotel for providing excellent customer service during this stressful time. Stay safe out there! We needed to cancel our reservation for tonight-due to the current situation of unsafe travel & our trip being cancelled. I reached out to the hotel directly (I originally booked with Hotels.com but their customer service line was down with all this chaos). After speaking with the front desk, they told me they were unable to give me a refund because my reservation was made through Hotels.com & I needed to go through them. I just got off the phone with Hotels.com & they were willing to waive our cancellation due to our situation. We were supposed to be flying out of SFO tomorrow (which is why we booked this hotel). To waive our cancellation they needed the hotel to accept the waiver of our cancellation fee. They informed me the Dylan hotel was not willing to waive our cancellation & not even offer a voucher for a future stay. Hotels.com has such great customer service that they are willing to take it to upper management & see if something can be done. Your business on the other hand does not. Shame on you for not being flexible with travelers during this time of crisis. I understand not accepting a complete refund, but not even a partial refund, or a waiver for another stay at a different time?! I will never stay at your business & I will definitely spread the word. I know this crisis is hurting a lot of hotels - but you just made it worse for yours. Stay safe out there & wash your hands! read more

Quick and easy check-in, staff was polite. The rooms were extremely loud, woke up several times from people flushing there toilet or taking a shower etc. I stayed at the bottom floor. Breakfast was ok. Easy parking outside, one of the reason I got the room. Room was clean. Modern and welcoming lobby. A bunch of Asian restaurants within walking distance (it actually felt like I was in Asia for a while). Was going to stay 2 nights in the area but got a different hotel for the second night so I could get some better sleep. read more

First time staying at The Dylan, but will definitely do it again. Cute hotel, comfortable and fun room with a record player and vinyls to play. Marco Polo at the front desk was super helpful and accommodating. I had trouble getting into my room and he personally walked me over and helped me. When I returned from my trip to pick up my car (You Can leave your car there and they'll shuttle you to and from the airport) it wouldn't start. He again we t above and beyond and tried to jump start it for me. Unfortunately, it was t just the battery, but the point is, he was very kind and helpful. read more

Location - great. Right next to train station. Makes going to the city a breeze. Lots of places to eat. Walgreens right across the street. Japanese restaurant next door. Room - got a deluxe double room. Pretty tight. But clean. No funky odors. Clean bathroom. Breakfast - first day, had no idea what we were eating. Looked like egg of some sort. 2nd day they redeemed themselves by really serving eggs and sausages. Coffee was great. Parking - tough! Very limited. But free. If you arrive late at night like we did, we had to go around and around trying to find street parking. Maybe not enough for the rooms they have. Staff - check in person made us feel like she couldn't be bothered. Not very welcoming after a long drive. Made sighing noises for every question we asked. Like she couldn't wait to get rid of us. Love this hotel for a stop in and out of sfo! After a long day of travel or leaving early in the morning this is an oasis! The beds are so comfortable with the perfect number of pillows and blankets. The rooms in the Deluxe addition side of the hotel have a microwave and refrigerator in room. The location is with in walking distance of an in and out burger and BART. They also offer a free shuttle to and from the airport. The best part is that the front desk staff is friendly and super helpful. If we had business or family in the area we would stay here longer than our usual 1 night stop overs. It is close to the airport so you will hear airplanes, get over it! The hotel is missing a restaurant but that too is not a deterrent for us due to the plus side. read more

So, The Dylan is basically a Comfort Inn/Days Inn/Motel 6 kinda place with a better outfit/name. It's not a negative thing; it's just what it is. I was a little surprised upon arriving because the website and photos made it seem more...... fancy? I mean, I wasn't expecting the Four Seasons obviously, but it did leave a little to be desired. The pros: -friendly staff -clean rooms -comfy beds & pillows -great location, you're within walking distance of grocery stores, restaurants, coffee, banks, Bart station, minutes from the fwy, etc. -free continental breakfast, if you're into that The cons: -it's an outdoor inn -super tight parking -not very secure, but it IS Millbrae -no fridge or microwave UNLESS you have a deluxe room -the bathroom sink sucks (at least mine did). It was so difficult to turn the lever from hot to cold and vice versa. The tap had to be off to turn it, and even then it was a pain. Really cheap fixtures. For $250/night (for 2 queen beds), I guess it's decent. But I've stayed in far nicer places for cheaper. Perfect example is the Aloft Hotel just down the street. But hey, if you're just looking for a place to crash, The Dylan isn't bad. I'd have no problem staying here again.... if certain other places weren't available. read more

My family has stayed at various Travelodges over the years but never again. We arrived at the other San Francisco Airport Travelodge by mistake (they are both named San Francisco Airport Travelodge, so doesn't seem like a hard mistake to make), told them we had a reservation, and not once did they say that there was another Travelodge nearby with the same name. They said they must have lost our reservation and booked us again. Sure enough, our credit card was charged with two "San Francisco Airport Travelodge" charges for the same night! We didn't realize that there were two until we got the bill. I'm sure the staff knew that this was probably the reason for our "missing" reservation but, hey, it's business so they took it. What a racket. We never stayed at this "South" Travelodge, but they charged us a "cancellation fee" which was $25 more expensive than the rate of the room we actually stayed in. Thinking that Travelodge cared about customer service, I called this particular Travelodge to explain the situation and attempt to negotiate a reduction in the $150 cancellation fee. I mean, c'mon Travelodge, you have 2 hotels called "San Francisco Airport Travelodge" and neglected to mention that when we made a reservation. The clerk at this Travelodge was really rude when I explained the situation, more-or-less called us dumb for confusing the two, and said we were at fault. I wrote a letter in May, 2010 to the manager of this Travelodge explaining the situation and requesting a reduction in the cancellation fee. I never received a response. It is unreasonable this hotel, in close proximity with another hotel with the same name, would fail to clearly identify and differentiate itself to the consumer, fail to warn the consumer, and then blame the consumer for misunderstandings. It is ridiculous that this hotel would charge a $150 cancellation fee for an unused room. It is unacceptable for staff to be be rude to customers and for the manager to ignore letters from customers. This whole San Francisco Airport Travelodge experience feels like a scam; we'll never go near a Travelodge again. read more

What a neat little hotel. I was staying near the city for the weekend to fly out of San Francisco on the following day, when the friend I was staying with turned out to be less than fun to be around so, my girlfriend and I went looking for a hotel. We didn't care what kind we got except it had to be close to the airport. My girlfriend came across the Dylan. We found this place and had very low expectations. We were surprised with the good reviews and figured the hotel probably posted their own reviews to make themselves look better but woa...were we wrong and happy that we were. When we arrived, parking was right there, and plentiful. Hotel was VERY cute on the outside. The surrounding area is rather non descript but there are plenty of places within walking distance to go to. Check in was easy. "Dave" (Dave couldn't smile if he had to) took care of us quickly and gave us our key. We walked to our room and opened the door to see a very very cute room. Modern with a classic feel. Bed was great, electronics in the room were great, furniture was great, decor was great and the best part was the bathroom. Good size and wonderful shower. The place was spic and span clean. There is also a cute little courtyard to relax in. Got my wake up call, watched some TV to settle in to the night, woke up showered and left the next day. Left my $200 sunglasses in the room. Frantic, I called. They had them and shipped them right out to me the next day (Thank you Laura!!!) The next time we are in the city, we are just going to stay here for the weekend rather than stay with my cranky, crabby a*s of a friend. It's convenient, across the street from the train station, five minutes from the airport and a helluva place for an incredible price. The savings in parking alone will pay for a nice lunch for two. read more

We got a great rate (through tripadvisor), with free parking and a hop, skip and a jump into SF on the BART reminded me of the pleasures of being a pedestrian. It's situated in a weird way (we couldn't figure out how to get into the front upon arrival) but we parked our car near the front desk. I have an affinity for unusual amenities and they didn't disappoint. I was able to have a double decaf espresso with my breakfast. WOO-HOO! (I know, I'm weird). They had hard-boiled eggs, a variety of pastries, breads, cold-cuts and cheeses, yogurts, canned peaches, prefab waffles and french toast. And rice pudding (yes, that was me, I swiped all two of them and stuck them in my fridge). We stayed in a deluxe room which is defined by a fridge and microwave (I need somewhere to store my soy milk - yum). I wouldn't necessarily say this was deluxe...but it was comfortable and really, really clean. (And because I'm a green chick, I was happy to see recycling bins on every floor). There's a safe which was big enough to accommodate two 17" laptops and then some. Here's my tiny dings (and thus four instead of five stars). Toiletries were two bars of soap and a small bottle of shampoo. Thank God I'm short because there was only two inches between me and the shower head (Tall? You're screwed - watch your head!). Although there was a coffeemaker in the room, there was only one caffeinated pouch with a few sugars. Three small pillows on the bed...I'm a three pillow kinda person. They also had a table-top ironing board (I have a strange penchant for ironing everything...sue me) Convenient location with a supermarket and several eating options within walking distance. Here's a simple heads up: although the neighborhood seems pretty safe, the walk at night from the BART to the hotel is quite desolate. I was glad to have my streetwise honey with me - I would NOT walk it alone. read more
