It might be that I am just really lucky (insanely good looking people like myself often are), but I think it is more a case of the owners being very selective as to what they have in stock! Baked in the oven for 20 minutes and they were DELICIOUS. I'll be returning for those for sure! Overall, this is a great alternative to Woollies, particularly if you're looking for more variety in your herbs, spices, oils and sauces than what the big box store has. Prices are very reasonable, and the place is stocked to the brim with goods, is light, clean and well presented. You won't be disappointed.

They have the ability to cure some ailments, act as a beauty tool and most importantly arouse the flavour and taste in a beautifully prepared Indian cuisine. When friends come to me for Indian recipes ( I should charge them by the hour!), I always send them to the Spice Centre to top up their spice racks or sample a new recipe. Like the orange lentils which lends a creamy texture to your dhal dish, or the green lentils which offers an healthy alternative to other carbs infused dhal. From fennel, fenugreek, cardamom, cumin to the expensive saffron, they carry a wide variety of spices fit for a Maharajah's (King) kitchen. You'll find plenty of meat curry powder packets here. My favourite Baba's is widely stocked here and is one of the finest curry powders ever. From meat, seafood and kurma curry powder, there is something for everyone. No Indian dish is good without curry leaves, and I'm happy to report that a huge bunch of curry leaves is available for purchase at a mere $1. Indian savouries, sweets and desserts are also sold here, so it might be worth checking them out for a different menu variety. Bollywood fans will appreciate the huge volume of DVD's here, showcassing some of Bollywood's finest stars like Shah Rukh Khan, Kajol et al. When I want some Bhangra fever, I head out here and rent a couple to amuse me during the weekend. For those who like natural products, try the henna as an alternative to your normal boxed hair dye or a bottle of coconut oil for thick, soft and bouncy hair. The owner is friendly and is absolutely helpful in recommending some of the best spices to go with your curries. Drop in and say namaste!

This store used to be around the corner from Wok in a Box on the far end of the complex. Recently it's moved further in to the main mall area. The stock is the same which is a welcome relief. I have a martial arts instructor who is always preaching the benefits of using coconut oil when cooking. In fact, he won't eat at a restaurant if they don't cook the food with the coconut oil that he provides. Coconut oil is what I stock up on here. I used to have a hard time finding it before I discovered this place. As well as that there are Indian potato chips, Indian meal ideas and drinks, and DVDs. Yes there is a long shelf jam packed with Bollywood DVDs. I've never sat down and watched one myself, but if that sort of thing is your bag then you might want to check this place out. In fact, check it out anyway. Why? Because I say so!

You'll also find fresh vege, the likes of kai lan, bok choy, tofu and my favourite bean sprouts! If you like Asian can drinks, shop here for the wintermelon, soya bean and lemon barley variety. Beats having the same old Coke in your fridge. Fairly well stocked supermarket although the shopkeeper speaks limited English. A smile, nod and 'show her the mullah' will generate a smile of appreciation from this lovely shopkeeper.

The produce section is sadly small, but you can certainly find the basics (raise your hand, lemongrass). Any bottled or canned or dried stuff is well stocked, and at a much better priced than the W, the C, or the I to the A. Open til 6pm and all 7 days of the week. Certainly a plus.

Always fresh this simple range is very competitively priced. Specialist Asian Greengrocer is slowly expanding their variety as the owners find their feet and are getting a feel for their clientele's tastes and desires. Much more convenient (if you're in the market than crossing the road) and much more reliably fresh ensured by a high and quick turnover. I now make this little convenient grocer my go-to for ginger, coriander, chillies, kaffir lime leaves, bok choy and the like.

However, 6 months on the new kids on the block are making the most of this space to sell cheap, fresh, locally farmed produce for both the Aussie Skip and ignorant Asian cooks like myself. Bags of cucumbers, capsicum, tomatoes and more for just two dolla. Any kind of herb for a dolla a huge bunch and a small variety of things like bok choy, purple potatoes and other Asian greens also cheap. Service is always quick, friendly enough and I can normally fill a bag of beautiful fresh produce here for $20 that will last at least a week or so in the fridge.

When you think about it, this makes sense as it works out to a bit before lunch time anyway. Like all Asian grocers they offer a slightly different variety of stock to the other places. I'm just happy I now have somewhere local to buy Choco Pies. If you've never had these Korean delicacies before then you must buy them. So that's Queen Phoenix. After looking at products in each aisle I was able to purchase a few more spices for my current Indian food obsession. Prices were not on display for all items but at the checkout they seemed reasonable. I was not asked if I needed help and only upon purchasing did I ask for extra items which I was then shown. There was a large range of grains in various sizes and spice pre mixes. I could see the huge prepared food range in the fridges and there was a small freezer section. I couldn't see any fresh produce. Even though he didn't have a small bottle of mustard oil on hand I'll be back due to the large variety of products on offer.

I love cooking, so any opportunity to use foreign ingredients to pep up my cooking, or try whole new recipes, I'm so there! Each Indian supermarket seems to have different items to the other and this store is no different. While it would be nice to have a one stop shop for everything I like, I don't mind going from store to store to stock up. Even if you've tried other Indian supermarkets, it's always worth trying a new one just for something different. The only complaint I would have is that the staff seem indifferent, unlike Indian Plaza on Main North Road, where the guy behind the counter was really friendly. That's only a minor thing though.
