Let's see - NOBODY from the venue showed up the day of my daughter's wedding, so that wasn't great. They had promised to have at least one person there, but I guess once they got the money they stopped caring. There was a street fair outside which they had told me daughter would be finished up by 3. It finished sometime around 7. There was NO SIGN - nothing. Apparently there's a sign on one side, but that door was locked. Most of the guests had a real problem finding it, which makes sense. They saw a street fair and big building with no markings on it that looked like a factory. We understood that we'd have to do everything, and thanks to her wonderful friends it ended up looking fantastic and was a great party. But the Loft really did nothing except take her money and open one door to get into the room. They literally couldn't have done less. read more

Went her for a wedding recently. Great venue for any wedding or party. Venue stocks bathroom with all the needed just in case essentials. Staff was nice and friendly and decor was simple and elegant. If you take an Uber to the location, make sure you at the entrance before you get out. Otherwise you will be stuck walking another block to get in. read more

Dumbo Loft is an adaptable space with high ceilings, beautiful wood columns, hardwood flooring, and exposed brick walls. The huge windows overlook the DUMBO area with beautiful cobblestone streets and eateries. The facility was very clean. Bathrooms are gender neutral and well stocked with all the necessary supplies. Sitting mere steps away front the bridges and the park that entire area is great for sightseeing. I attended a private event held by entertainment group Darren 6. It was #adultprombk and just a beautiful celebration of black excellence. They decorated the walls with huge pictures of black figures, had a red carpet and photo station to to the left when you walked in near the coat racks. A few steps from there they had a bar set up and on the very back wall they had appetizers. Directly opposite the bar was the Dj booth which left guest plenty of room for a dance floor. There were about 65 ppl present and we had more than enough room to swag surf without elbowing each other. Beautiful space! I would def consider it for a private party, reception, gallery showing or pop up shop. read more

The Dumbo Loft is high-ceilinged, with exposed brick walls and wooden pillars running throughout. Tall windows offer a substantial amount of natural light and great views of the bridge. Despite the considerable character of the venue, one of its best qualities is its flexibility; it's a very raw space that you can turn into whatever you wish. I've had the pleasure of attending several different events here, and I've enjoyed each and every one of them. I've been to tasting events (where I stuffed my face), conferences (where I stuffed my face), and fashion shows (where I wish I could have stuffed my face); each and every one was enjoyable. If you're looking for a raw space in DUMBO, it's definitely a great option. read more

I came here for a wedding. It's one medium-sized room available as an event space. There's two bathrooms, but besides that, it's pretty much empty. The party was about 180 people, no more than 200. It's extremely hard to find. Why not put a sign or something? If you're struggling to find it, make a left onto Water Street from Jay Street and keep going until just before the bridge. May wanna bring a scarf for when they leave the door open. Also, no parking available! Make sure to arrive early so you find street parking. Last, I wish the lights weren't so dim. What a cool venue. It is very unique with both the decor and set-up. When you walk through the doors, you walk up a couple stairs and it opens up to one big room. They had a coat rack to the left which was helpful. We came for a wedding so there was tables and chairs spread out beautifully over the whole venue. It was not overly crowded and I thought the staff did a good job of passing the food seemlessly and keeping the venue tidy. They had a nice big bar and a great staff. There was never a problem getting a drink and the bartenders always had a smile on their face. Great job. As for the food and I am not sure if the food is catered in or done on the premises but the passed appetizers were tasty. I really liked the mac and cheese with the edible spoon. It was creamy, cheesy, and delicious. They also had lamb on the boat and pulled pork sliders. All pretty solid. If you liked seafood they had the raw bar. My favorite part was the entree which is usually underwhelming at weddings. It wasnt the case here. The steak was top quality and the sides were even better. The one critique I would make is that there was a line for the bathroom. They only had 2 individual bathrooms for the whole place. Not a big deal since the line moved quick but just an fyi. My husband and I had our wedding reception at the Dumbo loft last summer and couldn't have hoped for a better venue. First off, Chris was wonderful to work with and because I was planning everything from Oregon, communication was incredibly important to me. He even sent me a floor plan so I could plan set up ahead of time, and met with me a couple days before the wedding so I could poke around. The space was a perfect blank slate for our minimal decorations because the architecture makes the space beautiful without need of embellishment. It has everything you need: tables, chairs, garbage, buffet tables, a great sound system you can plug your device into plus mic, great lighting, hooks for hanging things about, bathrooms, and a kitchen area. (I want to point out the tables, chairs and buffet tables are all the Dumbo Loft's, in case you're wondering if you want to rent in house or from someone else. It was so wonderful not worrying about a crew needing to pack up all the furniture at the end of the night.) Our wedding was only 45 people, but the space didn't feel too big or too small. We could have easily fit more people, but it was perfect the way the tables wrapped around the dance floor with the food and beverage tables along the back wall. There is also a great outdoor space acting as a private patio with planters the smokers can sit on. The bridge and small park underneath gave a perfect backdrop for more wedding photos too. For the location and price, the place was amazing. Our wedding was on a Monday so the area was relatively quiet, and that was really nice. I couldn't have imagined a better location. read more

I've been here a number of times for events that my friend has invited me to. More specifically they are tech start up meet up events for people emersed in the Technology and Marketing/Multi-Media Universe of NYC. I know absolutely nothing about these things. However, my friend is an IT recruiter! And I usually make up fun names like "Phoebe" or "Chloe" just to see if people treat me differently than an "Ingrid". The ways I enjoy life. The actual space is very large for a good group of people. It's open and would be good for any event that involves a few hundred people. They always have tables set up for cocktails or occasional appetizers. Photobooths, t-shirt give-aways, etc. The walls are enclosed in brick and its located right near the Brooklyn bridge and the beautiful promenade and water scenary. read more

We absolutely loved having our wedding at the Dumbo Loft! From the very first contact it was so easy and fun to work with them. Adam always responded to our emails super fast and always tried to make our planning easier. About the space itself - well most things have already been said multiple times, but I will say them again anyways. We really wanted to have a blank canvas to make our wedding very much our own. It gave us the perfect setting for a speakeasy inspired wedding. I actually felt like the space came with a lot of things anyways. It's small examples, but it was great not having to worry about a PA system and there was already a ladder around to use during setup and breakdown. Our guests loved the space and on top of that everybody ended up taking little strolls around the neighborhood and taking pictures in the area. We would highly reccommend using this space! read more

I've been coming here now pretty regularly for the past 4 years for several networking/techie social gatherings. This is a beautiful, raw and rustic venue space with lots of openness, high ceilings, large pillars strategically placed within the space and large windows which allows for plenty of natural lighting. Space aside, they also boast a pretty decent sound system and there's a gorgeous disco ball installed on the ceiling that I've never actually seen used here, but I'm sure they could seriously have a rockin' party here. I saw some reviews here about how people have had weddings here, I'm sure it's great and you can take some amazing photos in the neighborhood with a park nearby and the beautiful scenery that is the Manhattan Bridge overpass, the large tunnel and plenty of places nearby that would be fitting for a reception afterwards, but I would never use Dumbo Loft for a wedding, just not my style. For networking events, celebrations, speakers, purely social parties then I highly recommend using this space as it's a prime location, (I've heard) not too pricey to book and is a pretty remarkable raw space that can become whatever you want to make of it. read more

The Dumbo Loft is a great venue for an intimate wedding. My wife and I are so glad we had our wedding here. The venue offers so much potential for a budget DIY wedding. They already have a lot provided such as window lights, disco ball, fan, high ceiling windows, etc. It was a matter of putting up string lights, which was a breeze, and the raw space looks absolutely gorgeous. I came here for an event that was being done for some HS girls. They were getting free prom makeover. The space itself was huge and was able to accommodate 40 people along with dressing area, makeup area, nail stations, facial area, & eating area. We held our wedding at The Dumbo Loft back in February 2017 and it was as beautiful as we had hoped it would be. The staff at The Dumbo Loft were so accommodating throughout the entire planning process. They allowed us to tour the venue whenever we asked and quickly responded to all of our inquiries. We had some issues over the exterior appearance of the venue (the scaffolding is gone now) but management took our frustrations into account and remedied the issue as best as they could. We really appreciated that and on the night of the wedding, we didn't even notice. When it came to decorating the venue, we couldn't have asked for a more beautiful space. We draped the windows, added candle votives over the dance floor, and lit the space with amber up-lighting. It looked great. I would highly recommend a day-of coordinator. Although we planned everything re: vendors/scheduling (it was a lot of work), it was essential to have someone to delegate the entire set-up process while we enjoyed the day with family and friends. (You can find an affordable wedding planner on Thumbtack!) We had a sit-down dinner and dance floor for 135 guests. Space was not an issue and no one complained about the bathroom situation. It was rather hot in the space but I cough that up to the unseasonably warm February day. Also, I had no idea there would be a security guard present during the party but it was at no additional cost and he was lovely. Neighbors did complain about the music but my husband and I had no idea. Overall, we loved our wedding and our guests complimented our venue choice all night long. If you are looking for an intimate wedding vibe, look no further than The Dumbo Loft. It is beautiful and so affordable for NYC! read more

We got married here and couldn't have asked for a better venue. Chris, Lauren, and the staff were extremely helpful, and answered our (multiple, often repeating, sometimes inane) questions promptly and professionally. The space is perfect for any event and the rental agreement makes it easy for you to set up and break down the day of without incurring any penalties. My vendors had an easy time getting everything in and out, and all of our guests raved about the space and the location. We had about 75 people, and didn't feel crowded. Reseve early. Prime dates go fast. If you are the kind of person who doesn't like a la carte (DIY) wedding/event planning, then this is not for you. NO...the area is big but looks hunted and shady...no wonder its less then four thousand to rent the space...they only give you the area and everything else's you need to get it yourself... I held my wedding here November 2013 and I absolutely loved it! The price was very affordable! The staff were very helpful and everything was clear since the beginning. They have chairs and tables to rent.(tablecloths not included, I bought some off a friend and bought the rest online) I got my event insurance from an online company for $125-$150 for 2 million coverage. We didn't serve alcohol. But if you are going to sell it you need a license. I had 140 for dinner and up to 200 for dancing. We had a friend cater our food and she found the kitchen area big enough. We had our own DJ, we like to dance so we wanted a more party feel to our wedding. I had a few friends decorate early morning before the ceremony. The place has a urban rustic feel already and doesn't need much. DUMBO area is a great place for pictures as well. I would definitely recommend this place for any event! read more

My friends held their wedding here this weekend. It's location near the bridge made for some unique photos and the event itself was really well done. The interior is simple brick walls and wood floors, making it a breeze to add your own unique flair in decorating the space. It's got an industrial warehouse feel to it. The large windows allow some natural light in but it also means others walking by can see in-which isn't the worst, but also not the best. They could stand to update their bathrooms and add in stalls. The men's and ladies' rooms are single stall each and the area to stand in line, was cramped. Overall, if you've got some table settings you love and and don't need anything too fancy, this space will do. read more

You cannot beat the price to rent this location. I held my wedding here in 2010 and while in the end everything came together, I wasn't the happiest about everything going in. I had a hard time getting in touch with the guy renting the space. We chose this location because it was originally all brick on all of the walls. After we paid the first deposit (half of the total) and then came back to see something, they had added that ugly metal wall. That meant I had to pay extra to have that covered as much as possible because I didn't want that in photos. I also wish they didn't have their name and info on their windows, but that's an after-thought. He became much more helpful in the days leading up to the wedding and we were able to get in and out like we were told. We had access to a huge room, the back area for food prep and the bathroom. I don't know that if I had it to do over again that I would choose this place, but it wasn't bad. It just wasn't superb. read more

We had our reception on one of the honest days of the year and the guests loved how cool the venue was. Chris was a great contact, I could always count on him to respond in a timely manner. We had a major issue when our rental company just flat out did not arrive with our tables and dinnerware and the DUMBO staff was quite supportive and empathetic. I just had my wedding at The Dumbo Loft and it was absolutely a fantastic venue, especially for the price. The staff were super easy to work with, answering all our questions quickly and allowing us to visit the space more than once to make sure everything would work. When we booked, we didn't realize the outside would be covered in scaffolding, but that didn't really matter. Even my dad, who hadn't been very impressed by photos of the space beforehand, loved how it turned out once we set it all up with lights and everything. The venue has wood and high ceilings, which creates a sense of space and lends itself to a natural/rustic/organic aesthetic. Adam & Mary were awesome and accommodating. Moreover, the DL offers a list of preferred vendors, which made our wedding planning much simpler! And the DL also offers rentals on basics (e.g., tables and chairs), which is very cost-effective; we took advantage of that. We loved our wedding here and would highly recommend it to other couples. We were up in the air about throwing a huge Sweet 16 for our middle daughter when she said to us about 6 months b4 the date, "Can we check out The Dumbo Loft for my party?" In a moment of weakness we said sure, why not? Well, if you've ever been to the Loft, you know the outcome, and if you haven't, we'll try to paint an image as best we can, The space itself is situated perfectly , though as another reviewer has said, perhaps the name of the Loft or the address would be helpful being displayed boldly somewhere as I watched many guests stand IN FRONT of the door and look lost. LOL That is my only suggestion. The space is raw, EVERYTHING must be brought in. That being said, we used my cousins event planning biz to decorate everything the exact way we wanted it. We used burlap tablecloths with green runners and gold chargers for the tables. We added rose petals and the centerpieces were lit branches in vases. Simple but lovely. Her theme was rustic, yet elegant enchanted forest, which is extremely popular this year. It was spectacular! We catered from Carmines and our daughter said she's never seen so many teenagers eat so much at a Sweet 16! Highly recommend using them if you want great Italian food. We had the food set up in the kitchen area and then switched over to the candy/chocolate fountain/ice cream Sundae tables after everybody ate. Our Dj and his event planner took care of all our bar tending, serving and clean-up needs. We had a photo booth in one corner which was tons of fun . The loft also had a few employees help with clean-up which we were not aware of but greatly appreciated after a long day of partying. The raves we received from almost every single guest was worth the extra work involved in giving our daughter the Sweet 16 of her dreams. If you are considering a wedding or any type of party, I would definitely check out the Dumbo Loft. We had our wedding November 2010 at the Loft. It was the first place we went to, to actually visualize, and we loved it instantly. We will be posting some of our pictures. The space is large enough to accommodate around 200 very comfortably, with about half of those seated. We decided to keep it more of a cocktail type of reception with 3-4 main seating areas and then plenty of room to dance. Two of the walls are constant large windows (that do have pull down metal covers outside if you wanted complete darkness). One wall looks like corregated metal, but really is not. No pictures are allowed to be tacked in. We hung pictures in front of the wall suspended by fishing wire from the ceiling. The back wall is brick. Floors are wood, as are the ceiling along with beams. Plenty of hooks already in the rustic ceiling to use (not noticable, unless you are looking). A few were strong enough to hang makeshift tables from. We used pallets covered in clear plexiglass hung by hemp rope for people to put their glasses/food plates on. The owner does provides chairs and tables at a additional cost. Chair pads also were available at the time. At the time he also had 4 long black painted tables (which the party the night before had broken one of them...) The bathrooms and 'food prep' area are right outside the main floor. This was our only area of concern. Had they have been cleaner/better we would have given this review 5 stars. It functions as a break room for the building. Basically you should have all food prepared ahead of time because you have access to one household sized refridgerator that had no shelves in it....2 microwaves and one small sink with a tiny counter literally right outside the door of womens bathroom. The bathrooms are 2 single bathrooms, one for men one for women. Also in this room were vending machines, so you can see its not a space devoted to cooking food. This area was not very clean the morning we received the place. A close friend of the family went in and deep cleaned the bathroom and kitchen area before the ceremony even though they had been 'cleaned' by the cleaning staff. We managed to hang a sheet between the sink and the bathroom door so that it somewhat seperated the space. We hear the owner is remodeling the basement and those bathrooms are brand new. Whether or not they will be accessible from the Loft space, we are unsure. The sound system was great, lighting was great, air conditioning was wonderful and basically the owner is great to work with. He is very easy going and lets you hang whatever you want in the ceiling or the columns. A very tall ladder was also available at the time. He was very reasonable with the hours letting us come in and set-up. You do have to remove all trash yourself to another location. read more

I got married here on June 9, 2017 and I couldn't have asked for a better venue. The staff was very accommodating when I changed to another venue that they have and needed to change back to Dumbo Loft due to finances and the loss of my mother 9 months prior to my wedding day. The only complaint I have is that the bathrooms that were new and updated when I visited the venue were not in presentable working order (The area where you flush was broken and the hand dryer wasn't working either in one of the bathrooms). The bridal suite in the basement is beautiful but needs some AC or circulating air because it becomes quite warm. Other than those small things, my wedding went off without a hitch (At least to my knowledge). I would definitely use this venue again! read more

My partner and I used Dumbo Loft for our wedding on June 8th. Throughout the entire process, we found them to be extremely easy to work with and responsive to our questions and emails. We were essentially given the OK to stop by anytime to measure, take pictures, etc. The staff were hands-off (but there when we needed them) and aside from some typical restrictions (like no nails/staples - it's an historic building!) we were free to create the vision we wanted. It's a gorgeous space that doesn't need much to pop. We kept it pretty simple and we and our guests loved the end result. They have a small "bridal suite" in the basement, which was great for storage and a discreet bathroom, but this isn't the best place to really get ready. If you're looking for a full-service venue with a staff to attend to your every whim, this isn't the place for you. But if you want a beautiful flexible space run by people who will let you do what you want (for a price that can't be beat anywhere in Brooklyn), this is a great choice. read more

My SIL held her swanky loft wedding this past weekend in DUMBO, bklyn. Her wedding theme was the 60's vintage era with a friendly eco-green environment. Even the bathrooms had a energy conserved feature that automatically turn off the lights when it was not in use. The centerpieces were edible wheatgrass with white tulips in a tin bucket placed over green table clothes draped over chiffon. The effect was eye popping. A disco ball was hung above the ceiling that give off a radiating look. My SIL wore a stunning custom designed Pronovias satin v-neck gown with a asymmetrical ruching on the bodice and waist. And a beautiful white feather headband to compliment her vintage theme. The BMs wore Donna Ricco's Kelly Green dresses. The bridal bouquet consist of green ranunculus, calla lilies, babies breath, white roses, carnations and mums with feathers tied in white silk and jewel pendant. Food was catered by Abigail Kirsch featuring a Tropical Latin buffet. Chile coconut shrimp skewers, Spicy Jerk Chicken Lollipops (marinated in Caribbean spices), Yuca Frita (Yuca fries with mojo de maiz), Tequila Lime chicken with papaya mint chutney, Caribbean salad (field greens with plum tomatoes, pineapple, oranges, mangos tossed in a lime cilantro vinaigrette) Table Carved Roasted Leg of Lamb (marinated with herbs, cracked pepper, spices, and sea salt), Mediterranean Chicken (Balsamic chicken jus filled with herbed goat cheese, topped with tomato basil gratin and olive tapenade, herb polenta crisps, and lemon asparagus), Grilled citrus fillet of Atlantic salmon over mango-tangerine salsa, Lobster and Corn Souffle (Maine lobster and corn on wilted greens with andouille sausage in roasted tomato broth), Tilapia Sates with a drizzle of pesto sauce and saffron rice , Churrasco (Skirt steak in Latin American style marinated in garlic and fresh herbs with tostones). Some treats include: chocolate peanut butter truffles, whimsical dipped brownie cheesecake pops, jelly beans, gummies, taffy, and so forth... My SIL opted for a modern twist to the wedding cake. Guests were treated to a cupcake tower! Complimentary of Little Cupcake Bakeshop. Beautiful Golden vanilla, German Chocolate, Devils Food, and Strawberry with chocolate & vanilla buttercream decorated nicely on the display. I had the Golden Vanilla and German Chocolate. Rewardly sweet, rich, and satisfying. The loft is not only an incredibly huge space but it had exposed brick walls that created a rustic appearance. The tall windows faced the open view of the bridge and skyline of the city. A beautiful venue for picture perfect and candid shots! After signing a contract I was able to see the venue as many times as I wanted to do walk thrus with my wedding planner. Just a quick phone call to set it up. The space is a DIY space, so it is up to you and your vendors to create your vision. The staff at The DUMBO Loft did give us a list of recommended vendors and we ended up using a majority of them. Chris the person in charge of bookings was helpful, laid back and very nice. We had the place from 11-1am. I love the RAW space and we had free range of decoration and catering options. Very reasonably priced, this is a beautiful venue in a fun neighborhood. We had our wedding there just yesterday and I was so pleased with the experience I had to review it right away. Chris, the manager, was consistently easy to get a hold of and managed to accommodate every special request we made. We recently held our wedding ceremonies here and had a great experience working with Chris at the DUMBO Spot. We rented the space for the day since we were doing 2 ceremonies, and were able to decorate it to our suiting. They had recently finished a renovation that greatly improved the space, including updated bathrooms, a new bar area, and new paneling along the walls. The space is great for anything from small events to weddings. We were one of the couples affected by the sudden closing of reBar and Chris was nothing but professional, helpful, and flexible throughout the entire process. read more

The most beautiful (and affordable) space for a wedding in Dumbo, Brooklyn. We just had our March 2nd wedding there and the space was perfect. My husband and I had our wedding ceremony and reception there with almost 100 guests and it was amazing. BK Venues is a class act. The staff were professional and friendly, helpful and flexible. We were staffed all morning when we set up and had security for the entire event. The staff even shoveled snow away from the front door and ramp for us. They accommodated our special request to use our scentless cleaning products without a problem. The venue was all prepared, the sound system wired properly and explained, lights were good, chairs and tables high quality and the kitchen set up was clean. The views were amazing and at night it's especially romantic. The cost was very reasonable for the area and the service provided was exemplary. I recommend any of the BK Venue spaces because they are wonderful to work with... but Dumbo Loft is our favorite and now has a special place on our hearts! read more
