Part of this bad review is on me, because I never asked them their price to vacuum out the vent. I had contacted another company and they gave me a price and I just expected that they would all be pretty much the same. I'll accept that this was my mistake. My other mistake was in calling these guys. I called and scheduled the appointment and my information was read back to me. The service person was to be at my house the next morning. He didn't show up on time. Then he called and said something was wrong because the address wasn't a house. He wrote the address down incorrectly and was 20 blocks away. When he finally arrived (late) he got to work. I don't micro-manage so I left him to his work. He was finished in less than an hour and the charge was more than double what the other company had quoted me. As I said, I hadn't asked so I paid it. When he left, I went to use the dryer and noticed that most of it had been vacuumed, but not all (see the picture). The vent for this dryer is up in the ceiling and if he missed the dryer, that is easily seen, I'm wondering if he really did a good job of the vents that I can't see. We used this company in the past and it worked out fine. The last time the technician didn't properly secure the vent hose from the dryer to the wall. I called Dave to get them to come back and fix it. He refused saying I was wrong, it couldn't possibly be not connected because they use a checklist. I was able to book an appointment online for the following day once I found out I needed a dryer vent cleaning. The owner Dave called me to introduce himself as soon as I made the appointment. The following day when I had the appointment at 4:00, Dave called me around 12:30 to let me know that my technician was running on time. Then about 30 minutes before my technician, Charles would be arriving he called me to let me know. Charles was great. I have edited review to provide a more complete picture. All points contained are my opinions based on my experience with this company. My wife scheduled a dryer vent cleaning and expected a rate of $149.00. The Dryer Vent Cleaner provides that rate only if booked online. It's contained in a note at the bottom of the page and my wife hadn't scrolled that far down. There is no asterisk or note on the $149 price at the top of the page, you would have to scroll to the bottom of the page. This is also true on a laptop, not just the small screen of a phone. We found that out the hard way. The owner called and asked us to reschedule, and we accommodated. However, my wife was not available at the new time, but I was. The technician, while in our home, spoke only when spoken to and answered our questions with the bare minimum words. We understand that there are many different personalities, we also acknowledge being congenial is not a requirement for the job, but there was not enough communication from him even though I made myself available and stood nearby. The real problem arose when the technician asked me to pay $244.00; that is (63%) more than expected. I queried the charge, but he only said that the $149.00 was if we booked online. Nothing else. Nine days later the owner called my wife and ended up messaging multiple times. Over the course of a 40:57 minutes phone call and messages the owner's explanation is that we had a serious clog and that there is an additional $75.00 charge for that. Here is a copy/paste from the website: What is considered serious? Water & wet lint removal and/or time-consuming, complicated vent cleanings. Additional time may incur additional cost. This was not brought to our attention on the day of the service. We did not have water or wet lint in our dryer, the time spent at our house seemed average to us based on past experience, we live in a single-story home and there is plenty of space on all four sides of our dryer. On the invoice, the technician wrote that the vent was 80% blocked- again, never said a word to me. The most important point here is the technician did not advise us of the additional charge. IMO, a business should not add on 63% without getting approval from the customer. When I take my car to the dealership for service, they have me approve every additional charge above the advertised service fee before any of the work is done. The owner has now threatened litigation in multiple text messages and given us an ultimatum to remove our post sharing our experience. On that almost 41:00-minute phone call he continuously spoke over my wife and she was patient initially. I "spoke" with him briefly as I was getting dressed for work. I really did not have a chance to speak. He spoke over me as well. I was able to tell the owner that if this were just the $30.00 extra for not booking online, I would have paid it. I would have paid the $30.00, not taken the time to write and edit a review, but never used their services again. Had this company come clean my dryer vent today. Extremely professional company. They communicated with me prior to the appointment described the service they would provide and also pricing was upfront. Scheduled me for service and showed up on time within the window quoted. Technician was very professional and thorough in his assessment of the dryer and cleaning. Cleaning consisted of the vent tube all the way to roof exhaust, the inside of the dryer and internal compartments after removing rear panel. The filter compartment was also disassembled and cleaned. After cleaning the vent tube was reinstalled and the dryer was run for several minutes to make sure everything was operational. I have had other dryer vent cleaners come to perform service and it has never been as thorough nor the personnel been as professional and courteous as this company. I used the Dryer Vent Cleaner today, April 11, 2022 and could not have been more pleased with their service. It was punctual, friendly, honest and priced fairly. I purchased my home in March 2022 and was told by the home inspector that the vent for the dryer vented in the attic. The Dryer Vent Cleaner company came today and advised me that the dryer vented properly through the roof but that there was so much lint buildup that it was not venting sufficiently through the roof. This company was recommended by many neighbors in my area and we had a great experience. Frank Dickson was the guy who serviced our dryer and he was friendly, professional, efficient, and I would absolutely have him come again. We hadn't had our dryer cleaned in the year since we'd moved in to the home we purchased. The room was getting hot and moist when we ran the dryer. With the cleaning, the room no longer gets moist, and the heat is way down - so their 5 point cleaning did the trick. Also, the price was $25 less than initially quoted, because we could clearly see that our dryer vent did not travel two stories up, but just 4 feet or so to the outside. So I was glad they adjusted the price. I had heard stories about other places that charge far less than what we payed but then upcharging you through the wazoo once they arrive for every little area you should clean, and if you don't then you'll have problems. These guys do the whole thing for the price they say they will on phone (or in our case a little less), and that was how we preferred to do business. Fully recommend. Not enough people write positive reviews, but these guys are deserving of one, and hopefully that they came highly recommended from multiple neighbors maybe counts as an extra positive post or two as well. read more
