(gone 30 mins maximum) He came back and installed the following: (in less the 1.5 hours' time) Water Heater (provided by AHS) 80 Gal. Galvanized Steel Water Heater Restraining Strap $26.97 (you charged $100.00) ProCoat 1/2 in. FIP x 1/2 in. MIP x 48 in. Stainless Steel Gas Connector 1/2 in. O.D. $23.96 and a 1/2 in. OD Flare x 1/2 in. FIP Gas Ball Valve $11.22 (you charge $175.00) 1/2 in. x 1/2 in. Copper 90-Degree Cup x Cup Elbow (10-Pack) $6.10 (you re-used all the old cooper and use 4 new cooper 90's and charged $175.00) 3/4 in. FIP x 3/4 in. FIP 24 in. Stainless Steel Corrugated Water Heater Connector (2-Piece) $28.84 (you charged $175.00) The old flu was re-used. "Dude" cut 4 inches off it with tin snips and crimped the ends 10 mins tops (you charged $275.00) I'm not clear on how to read the AHS dispatch paperwork but it appears they also paid you $517.04 Here is my math. Your cost for parts. $97.09 plus $9.70 tax = $106.79 The average Estimator in California makes $30 per hour, (in the Central Valley its around $19.50 per hour) let's say a 35% labor burden with 15% profit so you bill him out at $45 per hour to do your estimates, Mark drives from Riverbank to Tracy, does the estimate then goes back to Riverbank lets call it 3 hours to be fair. Estimate cost you with Burden? Dispatch etc. $200 (that includes a profit margin) Now Plumber "Dude" shows up (a week plus later) and does a material take off all over again as if Mark did not give him the pictures and detailed notes, he and I took so Dude would show up to the job with the parts he needed to do the job. Let's call that 1.5 hours, drive from Riverbank to Tracy, material take off etc. Plumber "Dude" now goes to Home Depot (instead of a Commerial Plumbing Supply like a proper contractor would, this is not DYI) and picks up and returns with consumer based parts. Lets call it 45 mins for the sake of arguement. "Dude" uses my hose, some of my tools and lights to take out and install new water heater. (BTW, he never rolled up the hose and just let my stuff and the trash on the ground next to the water heater and outside my side yard. Lets call it 2 hours. "Dude" comes out to the backyard (20 ft away were I have been the whole time) and states he has a bed toolbox in his truck and cant fit the old water heater, box and trash he will be back the next day to pick it all up. How did the water heater get to my house? the same truck, that same day by the that same "Dude" Why all of a sudden cant the same stuff that came on the truck leave with the truck. The average The average Plumber in California makes $61.67 per hour, (in the Central Valley its around $25.67 per hour) let's say a 35% labor burden with roughly a 45% profit so you bill him out at $75 per hour to do your service calls, "Dude" drives from Riverbank to Tracy, completes the above tasks then goes back to Riverbank lets call it 8 hours to be fair. The install cost you with Burden? Dispatch etc. $350 Never the less, 5 phone calls and 5 commitments and 3 weeks later still no picking up of the water heater and or the trash. So I write to the company on there Facebook page. I get a call from Random the owner, (that didnt go so well with his wife coaching him in the background). Doing there best to treat me poorly since "arent you just the tenant, why is it your business what we charged the landlord" At that point, I explained I wasnt going to go there with them, just come pick up your trash and lets just be done with each other. I'm sure you guess by this email, Random did NOT honor his word. The trash is still on the side yard just where it was, and they have sucessfully ripped MY LANDLORD OFF!!! So at the end of the day, you billed us $900.00 AHS paid $517.04 a total of $1417.04 For parts that cost you $106.00 and labor that cost you $550 ($656.00 cost) thats one hell of a mark up there !!! Where do I sign up to do your kind of work. We have been a licenced contractors for over 40 years and never have we seen this kind of poor service. First of all the drain dudes contractors license is suspended for failure to pay restitution on jobs that he was sued over. Scammed my grandma out of $8500 she is an elderly lady and he had her pay them in cash (in speaking with another company should have been around $2k) and TO TOP IT OFF, never finished the job. This man took advantage of my older parents. Quoted them a partial bathroom remodel that should have taken 6 days. 7 weeks later job was never finished and he was paid in full. No calls or text returned. He Kept a marble slab also that they paid for and will not return it so they now have to go replace it to cover the old shower glass opening. If I could give zero stars I would. I wouldn't recommend using this company, they have terrible customer service and they can't seem to finish the job. My plumbing issues began in November and they still are not resolved (mid March). They cut a hole in my entry hall wall 1.5 months ago, told me that they were mistaken about their diagnosis....again, and left it open while they "waited" for an additional authorization from the warranty company. I have spent countless hours on the phone between the warranty company and this plumbing office, the outcome is always finger pointing with no resolution other than to keep waiting. Today I learned that the warranty company was telling the truth and the authorization WAS given on 2/22 for the repairs but the plumber had dropped the ball. The receptionist offered me a long-awaited appointment but it was conflicting with my schedule so I asked if she had anything else. She was abrasive and insinuated that I was being difficult so I asked to speak with Randon, ultimately he was unapologetic and I took the appointment. I informed him that I felt I had been patient and flexible the entire time, this treatment was too much and I would be calling the warranty company to make a complaint. He responded that "we only have 3 plumbers and you're not our only customer". To make matters worse, my husband called the warranty company to schedule the dry wall repair for the week following the plumbing repair and he was informed that the plumber had called and cancelled our scheduled repair appointment because WE were rude to him today on the phone! He and his staff (wife) have consistently made promises to look into the hold up and get back to us but I have NEVER received a call back in all of the months that this has dragged on. As with most other customers, this lowlife company took $1k for a replacement tub in our master bath. They kept having one excuse after another just to not do job. Had another plumber evaluate the problem and found no leak in the tub at all!!!! This sham of a scam company must be put out of business for good. The license number of their building is wrong. Not theirs. It's been expired for a year. He's put a contractor license that's not close to this place. They were the contractor that First American Warranty sent to the house to evaluate the repair. Contractor put hole in wall and floor. Warranty company says our responsibility until we threatened lawsuit. They finally rough fixed the drywall, but denied floor. FAW even said they talked to Drain Dudes (I asked for documentation they really spoke to DD) and they denied making holes. The FAW rep put me on hold then came back to say they found the documented form claiming the approval to put hole in wall. Still waiting for the apology for being accused of lying.... We feel like the warranty company has a responsibility for the fee we pay each month to provide exceptional contractors. FAW sent this plumber to our home. We would not have let them touch our house had we known they were so bad. Our faith in FAW was obviously wrong. We will have to let the courts decide now. Where to start... I decided to simply paste my timeline that I used in small claims court against The Drain Dude Inc. We won, not only because The Drain Dude never showed up (similar to how they never show up to many jobs they say them will finish) but because he took our down payment for a simple job and never returned. 1/13/22 Old Republic Home Warranty Work order #68158762 assigned to The DrainDude Inc. to address a noise around toilet and lead under home. 1/27/22 The DrainDude Inc. came out for scheduled appointment to address work order. The DrainDude Inc. replaced the fill valve and universal plunger (Evidence 1), however repair did not address the leak under the home. Pictures of house inspection (Evidence 2) were shown to The DrainDude Inc. owner Randon Castro, of leak under the house. Initial work order (#68158762) was written only for toilet, so they did not inspect under the house. Natalie Hoffman was advised to call the warranty company and have it added to the same work order. 2/1/22 Natalie Hoffman contacted Old Republic and added pipe replacement to the work order for The DrainDude to continue with the work order. 2/3/22 According to Old Replublic Home Protection agent, the warranty company was billed by The DrainDude Inc. for only the toilet repair. 2/16/22 Communication with The DrainDude Inc. continued with the Hoffman's and on this date, they returned to the home for the inspection of the pipe to replace it (Evidence 3) stating that the estimate was for $3600 and they stated that our plan will only cover $2500 and that we will need to pay $1,100 up front for materials as shown in the quote. Natalie Hoffman wrote them a check for $1,100 on this date check #XXXX (Evidence 4). 2/18/22 The DrainDude Inc. cashed the check (Evidence 4) 2/16 -3/19 Date was set during this time for The DrainDude Inc. to complete the leaky pipe job once the materials came in. Set date was canceled and rescheduled to 3/22. 3/22/22 Reschedule date for The DrainDude Inc. to replace leaky pipe, and it was canceled by The DrainDude Inc. 3/23/22 Natalie Hoffman contacted the Old Republic Warranty Company to cancel the work with The DrainDude Inc. and requested a new company to be assigned. A new company (Premium Plumbing & Drain) was assigned to the job. 4/14/22 Other plumbing company came out and inspected the leaky pipe and informed us that there was no issue nor leak. The warranty work order was closed 3/23 - 7/17 Multiple phone calls, voicemails, and text message were sent to Randon Castro's personal cell phone and The DrainDude Inc. office during the weeks following this requesting the reimbursement of the $1,100 for incomplete job. 7/18/22 Called Randon Castro on his cell (209-595-6226) using Rob Hoffman's work cell and he answered. Randon Castro stated on the phone that they had sent the check and if we did not receive it that he personally would come deliver the check to us. 7/27 - 8/9 Followed up with Randon Castro via text message confirming that we had not received a check and if he can deliver a reimbursement check. 9/26/22 A complaint was filed with the Better Business Bureau against The Drain Dude by Natalie Hoffman (Evidence 5) 9/27/22 Demand for Payment letter was sent by certified mail (Evidence 6) for Randon J. Castro at 2972 North Rose Brook Dr and 6366 Jackson Ave. as shown by receipts (Evidence 7) 9/29/22 Received mail confirmation of the certified mailing of the Demand for Payment letter to the 6366 Jackson Ave. Riverbank CA. (Evidence 8) 10/19/22 We filed for Small Claims Court and hired ABC Legal to serve Randon Castro and The DrainDude Inc. 10/25/22 Email to Randon Castro at The Drain Dude Inc. (thedraindudeinc@gmail.com) was send by Rob Hoffman asking for reiumbursement. Email was sent with read receipt. (Evidence 9) 10/26/22 Received email read reciept confirming that the email was read by someone at The Drain Dude Inc. (Evidence 9) 11/13/22 Received certified mailing of the Demand for Payment letter to the 2972 North Rose Brook Dr. in Riverbank back to sender (Evidence 10) and Randon J. Castro did not accept the certified mail. 11/21/22 Received confirmation that Randon Castro and The DrainDude Inc. was served by Joel Villanueva of ABC Legal, to show up to this small claims court appointment. Although we won, we still have not been paid back. Still going through the hoops of the courts to get our money back. And from all the other lawsuits he probably doesn't have any money left, but we will keep trying. Lesson learned, and definitely do not use The Drain Dude. read more

DD was assigned for toilet warranty work. They changed parts which did not fix the problem. Another appointment was schedule. They didn't show. I made several calls to DD and was told they had ordered more parts or were working with the warranty company. When I finally called the warranty company (I should have called them sooner) I was told DD reported the problem fixed a month ago, and that was the only feed back they had from DD. I would give this business zero stars if I could. This company was selected by my home warranty coverage( Old Republic Title) I put the service request in on 9/7/22. One guy came out to assess the issue, which honestly was minor imo- a clogged sink. They rescheduled about 4 to 5 times and called again today to reschedule. I asked the lady on the phone, who seemed very laissez-faire, how many times I was going to be rescheduled. She did a little chuckle and said she didn't know because the guy who was working on my issue had his apendix removed. How is that my problem? I asked to speak with the manager and that's when Randy came on the line. I explained the issue and I told him that I thought it was very unprofessional. He said that I had also missed some appointments. I advised him that I did not miss any appointments and was there every time I was rescheduled. And he proceeded to tell me that was what was in his notes and that Inwas wrong. I told him that I am the customer and I wouldn't lie about something like that because I'm trying to fix the issue. Hands down, rudest experience I have ever experienced in my life regarding Customer Service, it use to be Comcast, but now they are beat. I always maintain my professionalism when dealing with companies but after being hung up on because I had to call to see if they remembered my appointment I had made 2 weeks prior because of tardiness, I'm outdone. Can't really say much because they never showed up. I called 3 times, she told me it happens, that sometimes other appointments run over and I need to be patient. They came out and diagnosed that the main line would need to be jet vacuumed on the 12th of August and simply never returned. On two occasions they set appointments and didn't show up and I would have to call to inquire. The third and final attempt to get them to come out I encountered the "owners wife" and she is worse than the worsest (if that can be a word) person you'd ever want to interact with. What a horrible business!!!!! I have a clogged toilet, I called First American Home Warranty. They send a request for service to the "Drain Dude" (a stupid name for a company). On June 12, 2022, they sent two guys out to "assess" the problem. They told me that they would be back the next day. Sarah at the Drain Dude called me and said that their company was really booked and that they could not get out to my home until June 22, 2022. 10 days later.........The tech called at 2:00 pm on June 22, 2022, and told my husband that he did not have the correct equipment and didn't know why they had sent him out on this job and he was going home and not coming to my house!!!! I called The Drain Dude office....no answer, I left a mess. asking what am I supposed to do. Then I called First American Home Warranty to send another plumber. I should have checked YELP first!!! This company is a fraud and I would recommend you do not use them. My home insurance company (Choice) sent them out to repair my parents sump pump and the fella insisted that the insurance company would not cover the repair and persuaded my elderly parents to make a payment of $1000 to him. When we called a few days later to follow up with him, he informed us he was still waiting to hear back from the insurance company however we then called the insurance company and was told he never contacted them. After further research we found his license was suspended so we called him back and after several calls we advised him that due to the fact he is not currently licensed we do not wish to have him make any repairs and requested the $1000 back. He is not answering our calls and never returned the money. I would highly advise anyone to not go with this company as they are scamming people out of thousands of dollars and not doing the repairs. We landed up going with a local company instead and the work was done fast and professionally. Every time I spoke with the owner, Randon, when I could get ahold of him, he lied to me. Whether it was about extra work we needed, when the job would be completed and even that they'd get back to me. Don't try calling their posted business hours, I couldn't get anyone on the phone until after 9am for days. Weekend work, forget it. We had the unfortunate experience of having The Drain Dude be sent to fix our sink by our home warranty company. I honestly can't believe a company this horrible is able to survive in the world. My husband missed about 10 hours of work over the course of 4 scheduled appointments waiting for them to show up. For almost every appointment, they were over 2 hours late. One appointment, they did not show up or contact us. Another appointment, they came late then left for 2 hours to go buy parts at Home Depot. After not hearing from them for 2 hours, we had to call them to cancel because we had other commitments. Finally, when they showed up to do the work (over 2 hours late), it took them about one minute to fix our sink. 10 hours total of waiting for 1 minute of work. Our water heater failed over a holiday weekend. We went through our home warranty and were assigned The Drain Dude. While the warranty company took forever to get us connected, once we were partnered with them they were very fast at handling our issue. They arrived slightly early for their appointment and then followed up the questions I had with call backs each time. The plumber that arrived was courteous and professional and answered my questions to the best of his knowledge and like I said before followed up with a call shortly after. The work completion time was a week, but that is mostly due to the warranty wanting to buy from their supplier, as the DD seemed to be motivated to work and get it done. . I hope multiple postings will get this resolved. I was given the drain dudes information by another plumber who was out of town. I am still working on getting back my entire deposit back (this has been on going since November). I'm so disappointed. He took a $4,500 deposit. Per the California State Licensing Board, there is not to be a deposit taken over the amount of 10% or $1000, whichever is less. I am so disappointed this has not been resolved. I am still hoping Randon does right by his company by issuing my deposit returned in the full amount. But after contacting resources (California State Licensing Board and reaching out to his bond company) I feel that the only remedy is to go to small claims court. I do not recommend this company. I'm hoping that this makes Randon or his wife (I believe she is his office manager) Amber do the right thing and issue my deposit back to me. I had a few leaky valves and my home warranty company sent Random (Drain Dudes owner) and his brother out on a service call. Random told me that they would not replace the leaky valves unless they also redid all the pipes to Pex in my house and acknowledged my home warranty company would not cover the pipes and it would cost me between $4000-$6000 out of pocket. After they left, Random's brother called and said although he was unlicensed he would replace the pipes and valves for $1300. I asked him how often he undercut his brother and he said "only when he wanted to help a nice person out" and because he was not licensed he was able to charge less. Random and his brother attempted to take advantage of the fact that I am a single woman that doesn't know much about plumbing. They did not present redoing all the pipes as an optional service, but told me there was no way to replace the valves without redoing all the pipes, which is a straight out lie. I contacted another plumber who said it was ridiculous and actually laughed at what the Drain Dudes were telling me. The plumber I contacted came out and replaced the valves without issue in under an hour. After my experience with Drain Dudes, I read their reviews and many people stated that Drain Dudes tried to take advantage of them, submitted completed work orders to insurance companies when they had not done the work, and are generally dishonest and unprofessional. Because of Drain Dude's lack of ethics and professionalism I had to hire an independent plumber and paid him $219 and got a cash out from my home warranty company for about $90; on top of the $219 to the independent plumber I also had to pay an $85 service for these two hustlers to show up at my house and attempt to swindle me. As a bonus, as soon as Random and his brother showed up, the brother asked to use my bathroom. Immediately after coming out of the bathroom he directed me into the bathroom so I could explain the valve issue. I walked in and was immediately hit with the stench of this man's defecation. He and his brother walked in behind me and I was therefore trapped; The three of us stood in my very small and now stinky bathroom discussing the leaky valves and pretending like we weren't gagging. As you can see from other reviews this company seems to be sent out through home warranties. If you are assigned this company, save yourself the trouble and ask for someone else. My order has been open since June 21. They have not shown up multiple times, sent a person that they later told me was doing shady things and no longer works there. They don't call to let you know if they aren't coming. I've had to call multiple times to see if the plumber was on the way only to be told they need to reschedule again. I am a single working mom that has to take time off in order to meet there hours or try to arrange for an adult to be at the home.I gave them multiple chances to make it right and they never did. The Drain Dude was dispatched by my home warranty company to fix a drain trap that was not attached properly. I wish I looked them up before they got started. They are so unreliable and there is a serious lack of communication. There was one missed appointment. Apparently my tech called in sick but their system was down so they could not call anyone. The next appointment, the tech showed up an hour late with no communication and then was gone at Home Depot for over 2 hours. I called into the office to find the tech and they told me they'd call me back with an update. 10 minutes go by and nothing. Unfortunately I had to leave before I could get a response. The final appointment, over 2 hours late. I called into the office when 1 hour was approaching. They assured me the tech was en route. As soon as I hung up I received the text that my tech was en route. They did not show up for over an hour after that. The fix itself only took about 1 minute. I took about 10 hours total off of work this month just for this. If you value your time, avoid The Drain Dude. read more

I'm only giving 1 star because it's required! This company's customer service has little to be desired I got stuck with them through the home warranty Started out reporting a running toilet and leaky faucet, technician came out and told my tenant that he couldn't do anything with the sink because he needed further authorization more than fixing the faucet but said he would fix the toilet His repair to the toilet was changing the flapper, which afterward cause the toilet to flush out all of the water and leaving none in the tank When I asked the technician about why they couldn't get authorization on the spot he said he had another job to get to and had to turn in his paperwork to office for them to get the authorization from home warranty So I thought I would try the office to see why we couldn't expedite things Both the girls in the office were some of the rudest people I've ever encountered. In getting frustrated with them the first call, I called back to apologize even though they had such Poor customer etiquette I'm my last phone call which was to schedule for them to fix the toilet I asked "what about the kitchen sink", she said it was referred back to the home warranty So I asked politely if anyone was going to follow up on the status and tori rudely said no that means we aren't going to do that part of the job anymore! When I asked was anyone going to tell me? She said are we going to do this again you've been so rude are you going to be a "Karen"? Who says this stuff to their customers? It is the absolute worst service experience I have ever had! I doubt they even have real plumbers What plumber can't fix a running toilet? I complained to home warranty I don't understand how they are still in business !!! I'm a daughter of a retired plumbing contractor so I know what I'm dealing with . ...Only because there isn't an option for zero stars. First American Home warranty service isn't much better, either. They scheduled "The Drain Dude" to come to our home on 3/18/22. They were so busy, that they couldn't come out until yesterday, 9 am - 10 am on 4/4/22, to help us locate a leak that has created a wet area under our home. Yesterday came - and went. NO SHOW. NO CALL. I contacted their office at 10:30 am to find out the status, and they got me confused with another customer and said the service person was running late and wouldn't be there until about 12:30 pm. Once she determined who I was, she said she would find out the status and call me right back. Nothing. I tried calling several times after and got voicemail - which wasn't set up so I couldn't leave a message. The home warranty company tried as well - same results. If your home warranty calls "THE DRAIN DUDE"...tell them THE DRAIN DUDE DOESN'T DO $#!@...and neither does the person answering the phone...and move on to another company who will actually PROVIDE SERVICE! read more

They came out to fix my sink with the Sneak and strongly suggested That I do a Hydro jet cleaning to the drain because the we're older ... they said Since they did not have the Equipment to do the Hydro jet that day they would come back out and finish the job the following Monday or Tuesday but I would have to pay Half now and the rest when they finish.... we'll they took the payment and never showed up I called several times to Management and nothing then I finally called as if I were making a appointment and got through and found out his wife is the manager .... I talked with her and she stated her husband has Health issue and we can talk to hem or come get a check so my husband went down there to get the check and she told hem her husband will be getting ahold of us ... well another week passed and still did not here anything so I called talk with a lady who said she would have his wife get ahold of me and here we are going on a whole month ... very unprofessional they why they run there business I'm in the process of going to small claims court ... just such a Unnecessary Hassle.... very poor Customer service would never Recommend them to anybody read more

Poor service. Calls not returned. Missed appointments without notification From anyone. Emails stating work finished when it was never started. They should change their name to the three stooges. After months of disappointments for repair we had enough. NEVER AGAIN !!! read more

Would not recommend. Home warranty company set us up with them. They left us hanging all night one time telling us they were on the way only to not at all. They fixed our main line and left our driveway dug up for about a week. Once they put it back they didn't compact the dirt and now there is a big sink hole in our driveway. Requested an invoice for the work completed and had to hound Amber and Randon for it and heard constant excuses. Took about six weeks. read more

The Drain Dude was sent to my home by Old Republic Home Warranty. My kitchen sink was leaking significantly. Four days after requesting service a pleasant young man arrived and assessed the situation. He told me his manager would call me later that day - that was 5 days ago and I have not heard from anyone - Including Old Republic. I found another plumber (from a local reference) and my sink is now working. The young man from Drain Dude misdiagnosed the problem. read more

ZERO STARS!!!!! This "company" feels like it was put together by toddlers that are watching YouTube videos on how to do stuff. This place is a joke.. they are so unprofessional and rude. Money hungry and DO NOT care about the customers. Not only is Amber (the wife) the rudest person there- she is what is going to cause the company to go under... I don't think she knows what being professional means. They don't have real plumbers- they hire anyone off the street. They Drink on the job there in the office- so when you call and get a rude response just know it could be because they are drunk, even though they are rude when sober too. Save yourself the headache of dealing with them and request to go through somebody- ANYBODY- else. I promise you wont regret not choosing them. read more
