Mike installed our tankless water heater. We chose him because he seemed really knowledgeable and ran a small business. We trusted him. The install took longer than he said and the system didn't work right. Getting him to come back out was difficult (we had days of cold water) and when he did, his suggestions were sometimes opposite of what he had said would fix things before. But we were patient. He suggested fixes and sold us products that weren't what he described. We approved a water filter to protect the tankless and our pipes. He said it would last a year. He installed a different model because his supplier didn't have the one he proposed. It shut down after 3 months and would have cost us $900/year in cartridges. When I asked what we could do, he said he could take it out for $$ or would ask his supplier and get back to me. I never heard from him. After all the money and trust we gave him, he didn't take any responsibility for what he had done or how he would make it right. We called the tankless manufacturer and hired another plumber who has fixed many of the bad things we paid Mike for (no sediment filter, acidic condensation water dripping into our yard, no bypass on the filter). I paid double, but at least everything is now the way it should have been the first time. Mike's a nice guy, but we didn't see his integrity or trustworthiness at our house. This review is well past due. I am happy found Michael and his team due to being abundant by our plumber who got too busy with new constructions/larger projects. I had worked with many contractors last 7 years through 2 additions, remodel and construction of ADU. The honesty, integrity, knowledge, quality of work of Michael is just far outstanding: I consider found a treasure: high quality, reliable, professionalism makes such a great value. In addition, I love the fact that is family owned small business. I will gave you an example his honesty. First time call, he could just do the job of what I was asking, instead he explained me why he would not recommend me to do what I was planning to do, because it would be expensive (labor) and wouldn't get me much of good. He gave me better solution that was less money for his work. Another example, under my brand new ADU there are many contractors worked, but no one bothered to see that laundry gas dryer vent is just smashed and laying there emitting carbon monoxide right under new building where we are about to move in... he saved us breathing that toxic odorless gas without even knowing it. I don't know what would be overtime the impact on health of breathing toxic gas. I actually believe he saved our lives from big troubles...ps. We have been wondering why dryer takes so long / several cycle to dry the laundry and have been asking other contractors. I recommend him and his team with great confidence. read more

I submitted a claim to my warranty company for a toilet that was not working properly. Blue Ribbon submitted a claim for three toilets stating they were all over 25 years old. The toilets they installed were the cheapest you could find and two of my old ones were the high elongated toilets. And two of the toilets were purchased in 2008 and 2011...not 25 years ago. Unfortunately, I do not have photos of the old toilets (who does?) and no receipts since this had been my mother's house. read more

I was told by the gas company who was out earlier to reactivate my earthquake shut off valve that my water heater was not vented properly and they shut it off. I was concerned about Carbon Monoxide leaking out and needed hot water to survive and continue smelling nice, but my usual plumber was "busy on a big job" and couldn't make it out in time, so I looked through yelp reviews and was impressed by Blue Collar Plumbing's ratings and sent a message that was returned in no time. They came out later that evening and immediately pointed out how my water heater wasn't installed properly and the pipes weren't even connected!!! (Another strike for my usual plumber!) Michael quoted me a fair price and started the work right away. Super nice, polite, professional and reasonable. He updated me via text when they were on their way, which I appreciated since I managed to get a quick errand in. It takes a lot to impress me, but these guys know their stuff and were so on it that I plan to jump ship and abandon my usual plumber for their expertise. Excellent, Excellent, Excellent! There was a leak in my unit from the condo above me. I sent out my job through yelp to about 10 plumbers in the area. First Ron stopped by and looked around. However, since it was a traveling leak, it was possible that we'd have to remove ceiling bits to deduce the source. A plumber from another company also called me about the job but refused to even take the job because it sounded so complex. Mike (lead) then came by and spent a few hours checking every water source from the unit above. I asked him for the bill after the first visit, but he said to hold off since he wanted to check the building's water pressure first. He came on a Saturday morning and installed the gauge when I wasn't home. Over the next few days I was in contact with Mike through text messages. He was extremely patient with my questions. And only after thoroughly getting a glimpse of the water damage did he let himself write his report. His charge was exactly as he quoted before the job started (no excess fees). Yay! An honest and excellent plumber! And I asked him why he doesn't have more reviews on yelp... he said he wants his reviews to be honest, so he doesn't pester his customers to post.
