For example, I've brought in multi-disc sets from the same artist and received offers that were essentially equivalent to a single item. The pricing approach seems to rely on the lowest online listings, with an additional steep reduction, which doesn't reflect condition or collector value very well. I've also had to point out when items were collector's editions or higher-value formats (such as steelbook 4K releases) just to receive a more appropriate offer. That process feels inconsistent and puts the burden on the customer. Customer service has been mixed at best. Interactions can come across as dismissive rather than helpful, and responses like "you don't have to accept the offer" don't do much to build trust during a transaction. I understand resale shops need margin to operate, but there's a balance between that and offering fair, transparent pricing along with a welcoming experience. Based on multiple visits, this location hasn't quite found that balance.

I tried selling a card there one time and it wasn't very expensive, market for it was around 20$ at the time and they offered FIVE DOLLARS for it which is not even close to what it is worth, I took it to a different shop and they gave me 15$ for it. So pretty much they don't really care about their customers that much and mainly care about the money because they are the only carshop around they can take advantage of that. But please just go to another city if you are wanting to go to a card shop.

The ambiance was calming and aesthetic. Today, this location has been transformed into a corporate shell of what it used to be. Instead of wandering aimlessly from aisle to aisle looking for a good book, customers find themselves turning in circles as the aisles and section are laid out in an impossible to navigate configuration. If you are lucky enough to find what you are looking for, the prices are outrageous. Where the cafe was once a haven for students and remote workers, now only stale pastries and lukewarm coffee stand. The only thing this B&N has going for it is the service. Employees are always kind and helpful, even if the answer is always, "It's not in stock, but we can order it."

Bottom line here is that they were fair, offered a great price and were highly professional. While I will not name the two other dealers I visited, I will attempt to educate through this review. Smyrna Coin was orders of magnitude a better experience. At the end of the review is my experience at Smyrna Coin. :) My first experience at another location was dismal. Coins without collector value have what is called "melt value". This unnamed dealer took me for a ride, offering only 66% of melt value. Don't make that mistake. The second experience at another unnamed dealer was not much better. While offering a fair melt value for the silver, his offer was much lower that what I was given at Smyrna Coin. This unnamed dealer did what is called a "scratch test" to determine the Karat rating. It involves scratching the gold on a tile and using acid to determine the quality. The man said the coin was so small, he doubted it would even register on his scale. Smyrna Coin came to the rescue. Instead of the scratch test, the assayer used what I deemed to be an "Xray Fluorescence" test. This uses an xray that is reflected back and analyzed. My internet research indicates this test gives amazing accurate results. They used a more accurate scale and came up with a much higher offer. On the door is a sign that says, "By appointment only", but since I was there, I tried the doorbell and my walk-in was accepted. The assayer explained how the price of precious metals varied since even the day before and was very nice. Dealing in precious metals usually calls for a degree of privacy. An office worker inadvertently walked through our negotiations and was immediately and profusely apologetic. In my humble opinion, if you do not use this establishment, you are at risk of losing a substantial amount of money. I almost lost money by going elsewhere.
