Okay who hasn't been to Michael's Arts and Crafts store...? Right? Right!!! I mean it's a given when you need and want to make something special. My daughter Noel and I love to go to this store and we can spend hours inside "touching everything" as my husband puts it. Today, we stopped at this location looking for some paint for an Antiquing project my daughter has an idea for. Earlier we had been at some yard sales looking for some treasures and bargains...and she bought a few picture frames that she wants to redecorate for a project she has on her mind. I just like to look. I am always looking for something to do with my hands whether it is knitting, scrapbooking or just home decorating. I am looking for things for my grand baby's upcoming first birthday party..I love to find "Pinterest" ideas and then remake them...via the help of Michael's. One thing I don't like about Michael's....there is NEVER enough cashier's open and the lines in the lanes are so long..you always have to wait, wait, and wait...the clerks are always Very nice and helpful...but the lines you have to wait in..so be patient. read more

I had the absolute worst experience at this location today. I needed to do a price match on cricut shirts for an approved competitor and NICOLE was the most combative, disrespectful individual I have ever come across at ANY MICHAELS LOCATION. I go out of way to be nice, approachable and a patient individual to those who work in customer service.To have been lied to, disrespected and treated this way by someone there to SERVICE ME was UNACCEPTABLE. She told me they don't do price matches on cricut shirts which is a lie. I do this almost twice per week. SHE OFFERED to pull the terms up online. I said "I hate to be that person but yes let's please do that for clarity for both of us because things change." She quickly flashed her phone at me and said "see cricut, we do not accept that!" I then pulled the terms up on my device which PROVED ME RIGHT. I attached a screen shot below. She blatantly lied to me and scrolled to a section which discussed COUPONS on cricut not being accepted which I told her I was aware of. But a coupon wasn't being used in my situation. She kept saying things like "at the point I'll just do it cause I'm not about to "do this with you" I said it's here in black and white what's the problem? "She stated her store manager told her this." I told her that the website will cover us both. She continued to rudely huff and puff and mumble loud enough for me to hear her say "I'm Not about to argue with you,, this is ridiculous" AS IF I DID SOMETHING WRONG as she FINALLY walked to the register to assist. I saw a familiar employee come in so I asked her "are you the manager" before she could Answer, NICOLE spoke over her stating that she herself was the manager on duty.I am then Appalled that an alleged manager would act in this manner. When I get to the register she asked to see the price and the competitor. At the top of the competitors website it stated IN STORE AND ONLINE. She stated "I have to ensure it's not online only". WOW! But okay nothing wrong with doing your job right? I showed her the banner as well as did a mock in store pick up purchase so she could see that it was not "online only". She huffs and rolls her eyes again and has the audacity to say "that still doesn't mean it's not online only. THAT WAS THE LAST STRAW. I let her know that I had tried to keep my composure as much as possible. And that I wasn't there to argue with her. I let her know that as a very cool uncontroversial person she had triggered me in the absolute worst way and that from this point on I would match her energy; her response was "you never know what someone is going through!" As if I had done something wrong or as an excuse to cover her actions. THE AUDACITY! I told her I didn't care how her day was going at that point because she had then completely ruined mine. She continued to try to go back and forth with me. She still hadn't rung up a SINGLE SHIRT at this point. I had to yell to talk over her and tell her to quit speaking to me and just DO HER JOB. I then pulled out my phone in case I needed to record the interaction to protect me at that point! Which is crazy!!!, I go here, Franklin, Nashville and mt Juliet locations and I have never experienced an employee like Nicole! She literally bickered with me until she saw me pull out my phone. After all that she finally starts to ring me up! And guess what! she had to void out 4 TRANSACTIONS because she didn't know how to properly do a price match! Wow! Was this why she tried to make me out as the problem? To avoid showing that she didn't know how to do a price match in the first place? I WAS APPALLED BY THE AUDACITY AND BLATANT RUDENESS. I rarely have to come out of character and even less often in public! Embarrassing to myself and her! Once she FINALLY got Me checked out I still said to HAVE A BLESSED REST OF HER DAY! She didn't even respond! I IMMEDIATELY called corporate which I never have to do! They said I should be expecting a call from the district manager soon! If this situation is handled properly I may edit my review. Nicole is bad for this brand! Horrible! read more

Visited the store today. Very rude customer service. Lines were long when I walked in, when I went to check out, no one was in line. The line quickly began to back up, girl at the register asked for help- she did not get it. Then Arlo, who was asked to come assist with a need - was rude, called me sir, twice, even after they were corrected. Girl at register asked for help three times, continued to tell Arlo, I know you are on break but will you help. Arlo, who claimed to be on break was actually walking around doing work stuff or she was just walking around following the paying customers. Please teach customer service skills to your workers, also please teach them how to address other customers, even after they are corrected. I am sure Arlo would not like anyone addressing them by something THEY are not. read more

The moment I walked in an employee looked me up and down made eye contact didn't smile or greet me. Then proceeded to follow me into the isle I was in and pretended to do something. I asked where the restrooms were only for her to follow me in minutes later look in the handy cap stall then walk out. When I left the restroom another employee walked in looking me up and down ignored my smile and just glared. I spent no more than 15 minutes in this store and no employee was kind. read more

The manager make me wait 2whole weeks to even tell me she wasn't going to hire me.. even though before she said "we are really in dire need of workers and we would love to have you on our team" but I guess that wasn't true. I loved michaels before I moved here from Michigan. This store at the avenue is terrible and I will never go back to this store ever again. The cashier that's ALWAYS there, I believe her name was Jodi or something is terrible. Terrible terrible terrible customer service. Every time I check out with her, she has an attitude if I say I have a coupon or to check an item price. She sighs deeply and does it but makes the customer feel like they're being a nuisance. The last straw was on 5/29/22 when I went in and found paper plates in the CLEARANCE SECTION. The price didn't show up on the self serve price check thing so I went up to Jodi and asked her how much it costs. She scoffs and said it's 5.99 and points to the sticker. So I said well I found it in the clearance section so how can that be regular priced when there's a whole stack of them. She IGNORED me and continued scanning. If you hate your job and are too lazy to ask another worker to check on an item, don't work in customer service. All Michaels stores are about 99% the same so this comes down to customer service. Yesterday, I bought some Halloween decorations at this location and when I pointed out to the cashier that the items weren't ringing up with the advertised discounts she ignored me. I stood there for a moment (thinking maybe she hasn't heard me...because rudeness, in the south! What?!?) and asked again. The cashier sighed loudly and asked if "everything I bought was on sale?" I replied with, "yes, actually, it's three Halloween items and Halloween is on sale." Damn, Michaels! Gimme my pagan discount already!! . The thing is, most of their items are typically on sale!!! This is how this store works: over priced items throughout the store, sale prices to make said items seem reasonable. Anyway, grumpy clerk who hates her job finally corrected the prices, ONLY after acting like the correction was coming out of her personal pay check. I probably won't return. I usually have good experiences at this Michael's, however, I just walked out from such a disappointing time. I do calligraphy and the new lettering section and materials, the availability to try things out on paper right there, and having so much is really nice. What was disappointing was the fact that multiple pens of different kinds were left open and like customers came in and just ruined them on purpose--obviously not the stores fault. BUT what is the store's fault is the rude sales associate working tonight (3/3/18). It was an older-ish male with a somewhat of a beard & three separate times we heard him complaining about how customers don't know how to put things back and are too lazy to do things. We were right by the register where he and I'm assuming the closing manager were standing and she asked "how much clearance have you done," to which he responded "I've done some." A younger girl had to tell a grown man that he needed to do a lot of it because there was so much and that's a shame. He spoke very loudly about how terrible customers are and it was very unprofessional. I've worked retail plenty and know it's very frustrating but complaining about it as loud and as persistent as he did was so unwelcoming. read more

I noticed on the Michaels website that they offer craft classes for kids and there was a picture frame class scheduled for November 17 from 1:00 to 3:00. I showed up at 1:20 and asked a staff member for directions to the class. It was my first time there and I had a seven year old with me who was eager to get started and in awe at all of the products. The lady said that she did not know that a class was scheduled and walked away. It looked like she consulted with someone, but never came back to let me know what was going on. After waiting five minutes, I asked for the manager and he came up and said they were setting up for the class and had forgotten that it was scheduled. I shared my customer service experience so far, waited a few more minutes and then went back to the classroom he directed us to. The first lady was there and rude, but the staff member coordinating the class was helpful and friendly. If we decide to attend kids craft classes in the future, I will probably end up going to a different Michaels store. Great products, poor service. read more
