If you're traveling along I40 and you knit, crochet, do amigurumi, spin yarn or do pin weaving, plan your lunch or driving break around stopping at this shop. There is a bill board on the I40 but I hadn't seen it (because I was too busy knitting). I just happened to google yarn shops in TN and saw this one is close to the I40 so we made it our rest stop/lunch stop. So glad we did. The owner is a sweet heart. As soon as you go in, she says hello and explains the lay out of the store by the yarn weights and tells you if you need to use the rest room (she knew we were traveling) that it's right over there. Very nice. Easy parking too...either right out in front or along the side of the building, one shop over there is a bunch of parking spot. So the store has a lot of amigurumi kits and yarns. She carries local yarns by TN dyers too. Souvenier yarn! :). She carries these adorable cards to send to people for various occasions where you can scan a code with your phone and it will pop up with a coordinating little amigurumi giftie. Lovely yarn selection. Lots of gift ideas for crafters. She even carries pin weaving supplies. I have yet to come across a brick and mortar yarn shop that carries in pin weaving things. She had a beautiful display of a pin woven jacket. Her prices are very reasonable. You could get yourself a little project to work on during the rest of your trip. I'm making it a regular stop when we go to see my inlaws. In the words of the Terminator, "I'll be back". There's also a quilt shop in the area too and I would have loved to stop in there but they were closed. Maybe next time. read more

What a fantastic find for me. As a crochet-er of medium skills ( I can single & double crochet) finding a crochet guru ( EMILY) was worth a ton of smiles ( vs frustration). The shop has specialty yarns beyond what I knew from WalMart or Hobby Lobby! I had never heard of " stressing the yarn". I was totally entertained to see a large loop of hand dyed sock yarn spun into a ball. Emily gave helpful instructions in plain English and even wrote it out for me. Okay, so I wrote a review for this store. I emailed the owner to tell her to check out yelp, as I was pretty sure that she had never heard of it. I also wanted her to see what I wrote about her store and my experiences there for the public to see. However, she told me that my review was not posted. I logged out of my account and looked at Yelp, and to my surprise, she was right. My review was not posted. I guess that Yelp filtered my review, which kinda ticks me off. But, I will just say that if I cannot share my thoughts and experiences about this store with the users of Yelp, I will just say that this store is great, and give no explanation. A very well stocked and friendly LYS (Local Yarn Store). I was in the habit of ordering yarn online when I lived in NH, but since discovering the Yarn Patch here in Crossville, those days are gone. There's nothing quite like being able to squeeze the yarn and pair it up with another color in person. The new owner, Heather, is very sweet and knowledgeable, as are her associates. I have more yarn in my stash than I will ever live long enough to use, but I am still looking forward to my next trip to The Yarn Patch. read more

While traveling through the area, I spotted The Yarn Patch sign on I-40. My wife was too busy crocheting so she didn't even see the billboard. I figured a break was in order so I pulled off the highway and headed to The Yarn Patch. I don't knit, crochet or weave but my wife and daughter who was with us both love anything to do with yarn. But after visiting this store, if I were looking for a new hobby, this might be it. The knowledge of the young lady that waited on us was amazing! She really knows her craft. The store is really nice with lots of inventory of all kinds of yarns, supplies and patterns. Well, we left there with a bag full of yarn and a 15" Cricket weaving loom. I've never personally been to this store, however I can say for sure that the owner runs a great business, and cares about giving back to the community. My mother was knitting hats for cancer patients who have lost their hair due to chemotherapy. I wanted to get some yarn for her, as well as some patterns to make various different hats. I was pleasantly surprised when the owner donated a bag full of a variety of high quality yarns, as well as patterns, and even needles. It is so refreshing to come across a small business that is willing to donate to a good cause, especially given the current state of the non-small business friendly economy. Thank you Yarn Patch! This was an accidental find - and a really lovely small shop. The two ladies working today were cheerful and very helpful. I did, of course, buy more than I planned. There was a fine selection of very lovely unusual yarn, bit it was more expensive, so I bought moderately unusual yarns at a more moderate price, and couldn't be more pleased. read more
