Cute locally owned Book store, stopped in and found a few poetry books. One was a newer book, they had a nice selection.

*Note they are still in business.* I'm passing through town for a wedding. From a traveler's perspective, this is everything I love in a used bookstore! It was a quiet labyrinth with that lovely old book smell. I liked their selection of classics with the old bindings. There is a basic organization, but this store is more akin to mining for hidden treasure than the precision of shopping online. Also a great place to hunt down books from childhood. Take that as you will; I personally appreciate it. To counter the negative reviews I'm seeing: 1. It's a used bookstore in small town Tennessee. You find what you find; if you want something super specific and niched, try Amazon. Don't expect it to be something it's not. That said, there is stuff in here that is hard to find online. Touché 2. Yes, I heard political radio playing. It wasn't loud; he also had jazz playing. I personally don't care for politics at all, but it wasn't in my face. If you, the customer, can't stand to be around anything you disagree with, then that's on you. You also don't have to go there. Accept that other people have rights to speech and expression, not just you. We cannot be a culture where opposing views are shamed and silenced. read more

Grumpy is right. Unhelpful, and I couldn't even browse the selection of books without being blasted with ultra-conservative propaganda at full volume. If you want to be able to hear yourself think, go somewhere else. read more

For a used bookstore I really love this place! There's such a wide selection of books it's crazy! They have some books you'd never think they'd write books about. The prices are great!! There's a small fridge up front and they sell drinks for customer convenience. There are some places to sit throughout the store and check out books. The books are organized by type, but not in any specific order which I like, especially if you have the time to wander. The parking kinda sucks in the new spot and it's tucked away so if you aren't paying close attention you will miss it. read more

I love sifting through used books. Unfortunately, as soon as you walk in there is Nazi and Trump paraphernalia in your face and Fox News blaring loud enough to reach the back of the store. I could write it off as simply misinformed political views if it were not for the actual swastikas on book covers proudly displayed at eye level in front. It's sad because this is the only used bookstore representing Murfreesboro and being in there just feels bad. I choose to buy used books online (I recommend thiftbooks.com). It's just unfortunate because I love to read and to support local businesses but I can't support that. I hope someone else opens a bookstore in Murfreesboro (hint, hint). read more

I've been in the old store... he's since moved... and the gentleman certainly did have a lot of books! There's no denying that... but I never did find a single title I was looking for. The shelves were crammed and double stacked; messy and not the sort of order one would expect to find. I prefer hardbacks when I collect series, yet he seems to prefer paperbacks. I had a large number of the former to sell, as I was making room in my extensive collection for newcomers. He told me he really didn't like hardbacks as people didn't buy them... ()... yet the people I saw perusing the racks had hardbacks in hand; and he only bought about two for around $2.00 apiece, when I had paid between $24.99 and $29.99 for them... and they were pristine. He said he would be glad to donate the remainder to our local library as I didn't wish to load them back into the trunk of the car. I pray that's where they went as they were all in excellent condition with the dust jackets... a sizable amount of money if he added it up as a tax deduction! A friend went with me and sold a few/traded a few paperbacks and made far more than I. Weird... I was not a fan of the layout of the place, the shelving, the lack of order... I mean, the sheer number of the inventory and I was NEVER able to find a single thing I was looking for? *insert extremely frustrated noise* I'm not going to waste my time going to the new location. I'll find the time to go to McKay's in Nashville. read more

Hands down the worst experience I've ever had in a bookstore. To be fair, the selection of science fiction, fantasy, and history seems to be extensive, and the prices are very fair. Unfortunately, most other sections are incredibly lacking. The religion section is literally only christian books. Literally not a single book about anything else, I checked. The horror section has significantly more Frank Peretti and Ted Decker than Steven King. The display section in the center of the room is just multiple copies of A Case For Christ. Also the philosophy section was full of C.S. Lewis. C.S. Lewis. Who was a fine writer and theologian but definitely not a philosopher. I will say there was a decent selection of classic philosophy by Plato and Aristotle so that was nice. The politics section was entirely conservative. Like, entirely. The literature section was lacking overall (a LOT of Dickens and Twain, who are fine but I like a bit of variety). I didn't notice a single female author in the poetry or classics section. There was a "women's interest" section which I found odd because I'd never seen that in a bookstore. I thought maybe it was an old fashioned term for feminist studies. Nope, it was literally a wall of self-help books about relationships and raising children. Since when are relationships or children something only women have? The most disturbing thing was that the history section had multiple books with large swastikas on the cover (sitting prominently in the front) but a sign next to them said the Jewish and holocaust studies books are kept in the back. I really, really hope those were badly designed books on the holocaust that were mixed up in the wrong section. When I walked out I noticed a Trump sticker in the window which I guess is my fault for not picking up on. I have nothing against religion, but this store does not bill itself as a christian bookstore and its selection is pretty bothersome, considering. I was pretty disappointed because there aren't any independent bookstores besides this in Murfreesboro. If you have the time, I'd suggest stopping by Bookman Bookwoman in Nashville, incredible selection, both in volume but also variety. Also no chance of finding Nazi propaganda, which I certainly appreciate in a bookstore. Or any store. Ever. read more

They have a really good selection of books for a small town used book store. The setup can be confusing, but the owner was helpful and pointed me in the right direction. I ended up walking out with some books I had been looking for. read more

I stopped by here a week ago while passing through. There is a great selection here. I could have spent hours looking through the stacks! The prices are good too. This is my idea of a proto-typical used book store. Really great selection of books, categorized nicely for ease of shopping and good prices. I cannot get out in less than 30 minutes and that is a very short visit. The science fiction section alone is worth a trip to this store, they always seem to have some of the best, most popular sci-fi books from the last 50 years. A privately owned, local business is a total win situation for me! read more

I was in a book-browsing mood today and decided to finally stop in after driving by several times before. When you walk in, the glorious smell of bookstore hits you, but that's about where the good stops. I can do without conservative politics blatantly shoved in my face, and I prefer more diverse authors in the classic lit section than the white males that dominated the shelves. "Hey, it's a used bookstore in the South," you might say. Sure, that's what I thought too, but when I saw that the women's interest section contained only books about dating, pregnancy, and beauty tips, I was done. If you're a part of the target audience, you'll love this bookstore, but if you aren't, you'll be sorely disappointed. read more
