I'll spare Y'all the harsh-details of the entirety of my dismantling stay at SPACES,…read moreAnd I'll keep this short;
I have never, in my 21 years of living, been so disgusted, and disappointed/dissatisfied with an apartment complex.
This being said,
I was trying to get ahold of Cecelia (the property manager) multiple times, in order to get out of my lease (since Bluestone was going to raise rent by nearly 30% of what I was currently paying for a 700 Square-Foot Studio) while I was in Denver on a work trip.
Cecelia answered with an abundance of excuses as to why I was unable to get out of the remainder of my lease, but was "oh so kind" to give me an extra 3 weeks to gather the rest of my finances, and head back to Omaha in order to vacate my apartment.
The day that I arrived to clean out my apartment, I was under the assumption that SPACES would recognize the fact that I was currently facing financial/housing insecurities, and needed a set amount of time in order to sell/vacate my studio;
Cecelia threatened to "Ban and Bar" me from the property if I wasn't out of my studio by 4:45 PM (when I only arrived at noon).
Nevertheless,
I was able to gather a few friends and take out what we could, in addition to selling a majority of my furniture/appliances/electronics to afford to live for a couple of weeks.
Unfortunately, at around 4:45 that day (while I was still gathering the rest of what I believed I could carry, considering I did not have a lot of space in my friends truck), Cecelia texted me, and alerted me that it was, in fact, 4:45, and that I needed to vacate the studio and the property.
I, of course, was not paying attention to my phone, and was in the middle of putting my dresser on top of the little cart that the property provided (in order to move large furniture in/out of your unit);
I did not see this text.
To be fair,
If I was a humanistic property-manager, and valued the legitimacy of human-lives, wether that be of poverty or riches,
I would have had enough respect to at least give my tenant a phone call, rather than a text.
As my friends and I were walking out of my studio to the elevator, the property-manager (Cecelia) came out of said elevator, With Two Omaha Police Officers trailing behind her;
This was to inform me that I was officially "Banned and Barred" from the property.
When the officer asked me if I wanted a copy of the letter, I said "Sure.",
But when the officer asked me if I wanted to sign the letter,
I said
1.) "Am I Going To Court?"
She said:
"No"
2.) "Are you reading me my Miranda Rights to Arrest me?"
"No",
Then I simply smiled, and said,
"Well then kindly give me my copy, and Have a Great Day!".
Needless to say,
I will never be returning to a Bluestone-Managed Property,
And I would advise whoever is contemplating doing so,
To consider the possibility of extreme malicious intent when it comes to your property-manager handling a financial-crisis.
Stay safe Y'all, and definitely do your research before you chose a Property in Midtown to give your money to.
