You can tell they genuinely care about their patients and making the experience comfortable. Maggie, the dental tech who did my cleaning, was amazing. She was extremely thorough but also very gentle and made sure I was comfortable the entire time. She explained everything she was doing and it honestly ended up being one of the best cleanings I've ever had. The front office staff was also fantastic. Rayda made scheduling my appointment quick and easy, Lily at the front desk was welcoming and friendly when I arrived, and Sonya, the office manager, clearly runs a very well organized office. This review is about accountability, transparency, and respect for a patient's time. My six-month cleaning was scheduled for 02/12/2026 at 10:00 AM. I arrived five minutes early and signed in. By 10:24 AM, I was still in the waiting room. I was eventually taken back for X-rays and photos, where I waited again and was told the doctor was with another patient. My X-rays were not completed until 10:44 AM. Forty-four minutes into a scheduled cleaning appointment -- and no cleaning had even begun. After a very brief exam, the doctor made recommendations to the office manager and left. The office manager then told me, "OK, you're all done." I reminded her that I was scheduled for a cleaning. I was then informed they would not be able to perform the cleaning and that I would need to schedule another appointment. That is unacceptable. At no time was I informed that a cleaning would not take place. That is a failure in scheduling coordination and patient communication. This is now the second time I've experienced excessive wait times and poor communication at this office. I chose to give the practice another opportunity because I wanted to support a local Downey business that accepts my insurance and is connected to the USC family. However, this appears to be a pattern rather than an isolated incident. To be clear: Maggie, the hygienist, has been the reason I continued returning. As an anxious patient, her communication and professionalism make a significant difference. She explains procedures, sets expectations, and creates comfort. That level of care builds loyalty. Time is more valuable than money. When patients repeatedly experience scheduling failures and lack of communication, trust erodes. Until these issues are addressed, it will be difficult to recommend this office. I hope management takes this feedback seriously. read more

I had a terrible experience at this dental office. They told me my PPO insurance covered nothing and tried to charge me a much higher amount out of pocket. Thankfully, I decided to get a second opinion at another, more honest dentist -- and it turns out my insurance does cover a portion of the costs. It's frustrating and disappointing to feel misled. This place seems more focused on overcharging than on helping patients. Always get a second opinion before agreeing to any treatment or payment here. I was "accommodated" to take me in sooner than my appointment and waited more than 2 hours to be seen and it was just for an exam. AVOID THIS PLACE. If I can give them ZERO stars I would. Also the doctor was terrible speaks with attitude and wants you to tell him your discomfort instead of explaining to you your extrays. read more

This is my first time in this Dentist's office after changing dentists because the dentist I used to go to would no longer accept my insurance. To begin with, scheduling an appointment was extremely simple. I made a call, and they were able to schedule my son and me for the same day. I came in and filled out the paperwork, and in less than 5 minutes, my son was called to get his X-rays taken, and 5 minutes later, he was called into his room. I was also called in for my X-rays and promptly taken to my room. I appreciate dentists who also care about and respect their patients' time. Once in my room, Mayra was extraordinary; she made me feel welcome and even made me laugh. Employees like Mayra make a huge difference in building their customers' experience. When you have someone who makes you feel welcomed and comfortable, it reassures you that you are more likely to refer to the place and return. So excellent job, Mayra!!! Once I was in the chair, the lady was taking my X-rays where the computer crashed where it took another 15 min. To figure it out. Then after that debacle the manager came in and asked if I wanted to book a teeth cleaning, it was there protocol to come in for a consultation, X-rays then make a different appointment on a different day to get the teeth cleaned! I was and still am furious! The manager kept on saying I don't understand your frustration? I came to this dentist after a terrible experience with another dentist, and some extreme pain and nerve damage in my face due to a dental treatment. When I called them, they were very sympathetic, and gave me an appointment very next day. When I went in, they saw me right away, and gave me as much of an exam as they could due to my pain level. They have a special for the first visit, so I got an exam, x-rays, digital imaging, and even even a CAT scan for free. Because of everything that was happening I had to make an an appointment to see the oral surgeon specialist, and that is $150 for our consultation. I did go ahead and do that because I didn't have to pay anything for any of the other imaging they did, so that was a great break. I took his advice, and after a few days, I realize that I needed more assistance, so I made an appointment to go back. Because of my pain level again, they gave me an appointment right away, when I went in, they specialist was very kind and went out of her way to Research the nerve damage pain I was having, called some of her colleagues to get other opinions, and eventually referred me to the USC school of dentistry Orofacial Pain Center. I was ready to pay the $6000 for the surgery, but the fact that she decided that it wasn't the right time, or that it may cause more problems than not, she wanted me to go see somebody at USC to get an opinion from someone trained as a dentist and an oral specialist medical doctor... made me trust her opinion even more. Even though I'm still in the same pain and have the same problem as when I went there, I feel confident that these dentists and surgeons gave me their best. This place doesn't take my insurance, but I definitely will be coming back here. read more

First off, avoid this place as new patient. I came in with good expectations but they skip your place in line. Then the two receptionists said it's bc they are patients already and new patients take longer to be seen and don't get seen til about an hour and a half, but an appointment is an appointment? Fair is fair. They kept telling me I was next but would skip me. Mind you, when I called to schedule the appt I asked what was the average time frame to be seen and they stated I would be seen within 15-20 mins. I waited about an hour. They just told me to reschedule bc they were busy. Just so you don't think I was being a Karen I took a picture of the appt list and the red highlighted one is me. I want to first say that the front desk staff were absolutely the sweetest and so was the xray tech! Where it all went downhill was actually speaking to the dentist. He was so rude and claimed I had cavities that would require them to file down my front teeth. They also tried to charge me 1500$, despite me having insurance and calling ahead to make sure they took said insurance. I left immediately and scheduled an appointment with my previous dentist whose practice is out in Santa Ana and told him what this dentist said. He pretty much laughed at me and said there was nothing wrong with my teeth besides a past filling that had fallen out. He also let me know that if this dentist had filled my front teeth down, they would have given me permanent damage. Would NEVER recommend this place, even to my worst enemy. read more

I cannot stress this enough, please get a second opinion if this place tries to quote you with a high bill for a service. I came in for a first time appointment to have my frontal implant fake tooth looked at, after taking CT scans of my mouth the dentist came over and showed me that my implant was very clearly infected, and that I would need to get it out immediately. Having my implant put in and all of the prior surgeries I had to have for it, hearing this news made me scared and vulnerable. Right after explaining to me that I needed to have immediate surgery to have my implant removed, I was overloaded with paperwork and was told all together it would be $15,000, BUT that they would "do me a favor" and only charge me $10,000; with that however, in order to get that "deal" I had to sign up for a line of credit through them THAT DAY before I left. Being distraught I agreed and was told I would not be charged the full 10k until I had my surgery. After leaving I decided to get a second opinion, from a very highly recommended Periodontist in Beverly Hills.... The Beverly Hills Dentist was SHOCKED that this Downey Dentist was going to charge me $15,000, and then they quoted me $6,800 for all 3 surgeries. The Downey Dentist tried to convince me they were "giving me a deal" by only charging me 10k instead of 15k, when a BEVERLY HILLS dentist only charged me $6,800 for everything, and not to mention they were a lot more kind and gentle with me throughout the whole process. On top of that, after getting my surgeries in Beverly Hills I found out that the Downey Dentist charged my line of credit the FULL 10k, THE SAME DAY that I signed up, which is illegal and then got mad at ME for filing a complaint. PLEASE GET SECOND OPINION, these guys are scammers. read more
