The resort provided free rentals, but because of Covid, I felt more comfortable just bringing my own. I traveled to the Galapagos islands in 2018, and had a terrible experience with the snorkel gear that I was using. I was having a very hard time having my nose plugged and it was causing me a panic, and therefore I did not enjoy the snorkeling experience. It turns out that now full face masks are now a thing - and New England Dive had plenty of good options! They were reasonably priced and the person assisting me took them out of their packaging so that I can really see how they worked. I left the store with a new snorkeling mask, confident that this experience was going to go much smoother - and it did! I'm so grateful that I found this mask. The store is huge, even though it looks kind of small from the outside, and their inventory is huge. I visited Cabela's and a couple of other sports stores, but none had this particular style of mask.

Randy was great at walking me through options and set me up with a great full travel set. He made sure everything was suited to my dive needs and came in time for my trip (despite general supply chain issues). It's been a while since my last dive, so I didn't want to waste my precious time in Belize on a refresher course. Randy instructed me through one of the most thorough refresher courses I've had in the pool the week before my trip. It was great as I was able to dive on day 1 in Belize without needing to take a refresher there. More importantly, it was a great review of all of the key skills and got me aquatinted with my new equipment. Just got back from the week of diving and it was awesome! Felt super confident under water and the equipment worked out great. It was so nice to have my own equipment I was familiar with and fit perfectly as opposed to the usual mixed bag of rental gear. Adding a few shots from the trip to the review. Thanks Randy...I'll definitely be back for my diving needs!

Although they may be nice at the shop I question the sanity of his employee and best friend Robert. I took a trip with them to the Caribean and not everyone is as nice as they seem. Robert is a full time nurse and volunteer helper who comes to the shop about twice a week. On our way back home at the airport I was in line in front of him and took a little longer going through security. I made the mistake of not taking my belt off so the metal detector kept going off. I could see him behind me letting out these dramatic huffs and rolling his eyes. After we both got through the metal detector he calls me out twice saying, "Dude, you're in my way!" We had plenty of time before the next plane departed so I thought it was very rude of him to act like that and was a little offended. When we were at the gate waiting I could hear him by the window telling the owner how annoyed he was with me. I don't know if it was the drinking the previous night, or if that's his normal personality, but lets just say people aren't as friendly as they seem when you first meet them so be careful about going on trips with strangers, and if he's the type of person to lose his temper over something so small, he was never meant to work in human services let alone health care. Also on the trip the owner was a bit of a jerk to me on the last day because I forgot to notify my roommate of the meeting time, but other than that I'd say he was a perfect gentleman.
