I was initially looking for a new sauce pot and found so much more! I found Asian soup spoons and silicone coated tongs for incredible prices. I didn't see the sauce pot I wanted so I paid for what I'd found and asked the owner (?) if he carried what I was looking for and he took me to "the rest" of the store in the back that I thought was just storage for what was out front. He had a sauce pot a little bigger than I needed, but I bought it anyway. He also let me grab 2 coffee mugs of my choice because it was my first time there. It was a valid reason for me to check out the place that is like Ali Baba's cavern for all things porcelain at fantastic prices. If you only need a few, they will sell you a small quantity, so just bring cash and a good eye for quality underneath the dust and stacks. This is not Williams Sonoma or Sur La Table, so don't expect any kind of order or presentation; keep in mind that the prices are why you are here. If you don't want to rummage, and prefer your porcelain in pristine condition, don't come here. If you love finding a steal and don't mind running your purchase through a dishwasher, you will love it here. They also have new and used kitchen equipment, ranging from professional espresso machines to heavy duty safety gloves. Went there looking for some attachments for a mixer, they didn't have any. A lot of what looks like old dishes from yard sales or restaurants that closed down. So if you looking for dishes and utensils this might be a place to check out, but there is also another store about a mile or two away that had a lot more variety of everything and was cleaner and had staff that could help. read more

One of those great, weird LA gems. More geared toward restaurants than individuals, but the staff is very helpful and knowledgable about their massive inventory. The owner even threw in a couple of free mugs when I bought a pot... I chose a blue mug and an orange one and it turns out that the orange mug is the same style that Hooters buys. I'm so happy I stumbled on this amazing restaurant supply store. I love cooking, and have spent more than I'd like to admit at Sur la Table over the years. Most recently, I bought a pizza peel there and it was $35. Granted, I bought it with the intention of returning it because I really wanted to try my new pizza oven and Dish Depot was closed. So the next day I moseyed on down to Dish Depot and they have a WAAAAAAY better pizza peel for $12! Can you believe it?? The staff are very helpful, they led me right to the item I was looking for. I saw a kitchen torch (for creme brûlée!!!) and an old school (used) syrup warmer I think I might be interested in down the line! read more

I didn't realize the mishmosh of glasses crammed, balanced and undusted onto shelves were not odds and ends - they're examples of what you can purchase in lots of a dozen. I'd tell you what I paid but I'm not totally sure of what cost what. The pizza peel (solid wood) was marked at $8.99 and Sam's assistant said the dozen martini glasses were $24.95. Then Sam said $28 total. Either the man can't add to save his life or he's giving his accountant fits. He insisted $28 so there it was. Worth the trip. read more
