Restaurant depot is dependable provider and last minute go-to for us. One time we ran out of a very important base product needed at our QSR shop. It was almost closing and my eta was 10minutes after they technically closed. I called asked for the manager and explained the situation. When I arrived the front end team was waiting on me when I arrived and we got just what we needed. The Mgr had kept a register open and a cashier ready for us. Before the pandemic, this used to be for the businesses only. Then I saw an article last year that they opened to public! Restaurant Depot saved me during the peak toilet paper, bleach, water, and egg hoarding season last year. This place has meat, seafood, frozen food, and fresh vegetables and fruits (some loose, mostly bulk). They have pretty much everything you would think a restaurant needs. Now, I did not go back in awhile since other store started to stock up on toilet papers and etc pretty well this year... until recently Costco seems to run out of toilet paper and paper towels again. I called to see if it is still open to public & thank goodness it is open to public. I was able to get toilet papers (not Charmin), paper towels, gloves, and napkins in Costco size. I think my favorite thing to get is the professional dawn dish detergent. It works so well & lasts a long time. Take a look at their monthly ads. I think they have good deals. I got some 8oz black & white truffle oils for $13 each! FYI. No returns and no refunds for the public, so only get what you really need! read more

Had a fantastic experience here a while back that I neglected to post. I visited Restaurant Depot in the later afternoon to purchase some items for my local fire department and walked into the chiller area unsure of where these items would be. Thankfully I ran into a male worker who was in the meat area who graciously stopped and took his time from his area to walk me to the appropriate area of the store to locate my items. Why is this important to post, I've been to many warehouses and markets and some very high end, but this gentleman not only greeted me very politely, asked how my day was going and took time from the area he said he works in to walk me over instead of just telling me where to find my items. Good employees are out there, but excellent employees with courtesy, professionalism and kindness are a dime a dozen. Especially now days. It almost seems as you are bothering them. This worker is one I hope the company realizes the value this employee brings. I would definitely hire him as a manager if I had a business! No hesitation at all. And to the employee, Paul. Came to the restaurant depot/Jetro (Jefferson blvd). John in the fish department was amazing. He took his time to help me get my fish and walked me to the manager's office to help me pay for my stuff. Tori at the front desk was very welcoming and sweet. She is a great person to help people at the front. And Lamonte at the cash register was excellent. He was so helpful and kind. Will definitely be back. What I just can't wrap my head around is the fact that every employee has WILLINGLY applied for their position and they're working with the nastiest attitude. I was looking for potato starch. When I could not find any, I asked an employee by saying " sorry to bother you. Do you have any potato starch?". The employee replied "I don't know." I went around the whole place again and decided to ask another employee. He replied "look on that isle". After I could not find it, I gave up and proceeded to checkout. I asked the cashier if they ran out of potato starch. She bluntly said "we don't have any" while chatting with her fellow cashier. After she scanned my items, she forgot to give me the receipt because she was busy talking. In general, employees do not care about you finding what you need. FRESH SEAFOOD I needed over 30 lbs of seafood for our upcoming culinary competition. I tried getting fish at other locations near my event but no one could get me the desired amount of fish. I had to make a decision to drive here knowing that the Los Angles freeway traffic was going to hit me at any minute. I really didn't have a choice because without the raw seafood I wouldn't have anything for the chefs to cook. When I arrived at the fresh seafood counter I noticed a sign stating that the seafood is delivered fresh within 24 hours from the source. That is great especially when you have a restaurant and you want your customers to have the finest product. It was also incredibly cold in here and I never ever get cold. There was another sign offering jackets upon request. I was about 2 minutes from becoming an igloo and almost asked for one. I must say that the staff was incredibly helpful. I worked with Richard (I believe that was his name) and he helped find me the right fish for my budget and my completion. I almost bought 35 lbs of salmon which was going to cost me $208. I asked Richard to get creative and we came up with whole Rock Fish which was only $1.50 a pound. I did a quick search on the internet and found a lot of good info about this type of fish. I was really impressed that it's used a lot for ceviche. I think I just found my fish for the chef throw down. I really loved that the fishes were whole because that would add to the chefs level of difficulty. They had to gut, scale and filet the whole fish. I hope they packed their sharp knives. Richard worked with me to make sure that we had an equal weight of fish in each bag for the chefs. This was a total time saver for me. This way I could just hand the chefs their fish before the competition clock started ticking. The Rock Fish also didn't blow my budget. I was able to spend $45 for a giant cooler full of fish. That makes me happy. I must also say that the fish was really tasty. The chefs had only one hour to cook and they all came up with different dishes using the Rock Fish. I loved every bite, in fact, I've got a new fish I want to work with at home but I'm going to make some fresh ceviche in my house. Doesn't that sound good with chips and beer!!! Thanks restaurant depot for having an incredible fresh fish selection for me to choose from. I also want to acknowledge the great customer service from the employees. You made a stressful day for me more relaxing, unfortunately you could not take away the 45 minute nine mile drive to my restaurant from here but that's not your fault. I went to the restaurant depot in Los Angeles, before I left home I called and ask them to check if they had an item in stock and the girl said yes. Now I called twice and so I drove from Whittier to downtown LA to Restaurant Depot on Washington Bl. When I get there, I went to check and couldn't find it, so I went up personally to ask a third time and she insist it was there. So I went to the manager on duty and was told they were out of stock. Our establishment shops here out of necessity not because it necessarily has a "reasonable" choice. Some of the ladies at the register are nice and do their job well. The majority seem bitter and have 0 customer service/social skills. Today, my coworker (who is new to the country) showed the clerk the 1 item out of many that we were purchasing and told her we were in a rush and she responded "OK BUT I STILL NEED TO SCAN IT" with the biggest frown and look of disgust. She saw it because he pointed to it (I was carrying it) to make sure we paid for it. It was obviously a misunderstanding and all she had to do was explain it with one sentence, but she totally failed and missed that opportunity. I, the customer, had to instead explain it to my coworker that even though she saw it a supervisor needs to come over to approve the sale (aka doing the employee's job). I didn't give one star because the products tend to be fresh and are decently priced. Every time I come to the register I cringe soo soo hard. I assume they pay most of the clerks a starting pay of minimum wage because you definitely get what you pay for. read more

Shout out to Mr. Mendez for helping a first timer (me)! I came here for the first time to get some inventory for my store and it reminded me of Costco but for restaurants! Except you use a dolly cart thing and not a regular shopping cart. It's pretty heavy and you definitely need some strong arms to be able to lift the heavy bulk items they sell. Or you could probably ask for help. Luckily i only need to lift up to 35 lbs which is standard. I was looking for some items and Mr. Mendez asked if I needed help and he helped me for sure! To be honest, I didn't even think the staff would offer me some help and I didn't think they were friendly here because of the bad reviews but they actually are nice and helpful! The place is huge (atleast to me). Thanks for making me feel comfortable in this busy store! Line wasn't too bad on a Tuesday afternoon (3pm). I'll be here weekly! I'm there 2-3 times a week (Washington store). Whenever I ask an employee for assistance they are more than helpful. Outstanding customer service. How the guys working in the walk-in stay positive and always helpful I don't know, but I appreciate their hard work. I've been shopping there for work for the past 4 or 5 years. I've tried to put up with it until now, but this place is unbelievably awful! As you can see, it has terrible reviews on both Yelp and Google, but I don't know if it's because everyone (including me) needs to shop there, but customers tend to complain to one another while waiting in line and don't appear to review it. However, my patience wasn't enough for the problem that occurred this time. I'm mad enough that even though I'll continue to shop there, I decided to make detailed hashtags about the problems on SNS so the staff there will see them. Just as the reviews state, when customers are looking for something and ask the staff, they're always absorbed in their phones texting so they don't listen, or ignore them and pretend they didn't hear. In my case, something wasn't on the shelves and sold out, but when I asked them if they had anymore stock, they said, 'go to the counter by the entrance and ask yourself' (and this place is as big as Costco). What's always the case is that even if they have more stock, they always make me wait for 20 minutes while looking (they don't have any records of which shelf holds what). The staff are lazy and always say, 'come back tomorrow, we're out'. There have been times when I'll go in 2 days later, only to be told they don't get more stock brought in until 4 days later, and I've also looked for items with them because they say they don't have them, and found them myself. The point is, they aren't able to inspect or confirm stock, and the staff aren't properly communicating with one another. What's worse is that I was made to wait in the freezer room for more than 20 minutes, and when I returned to the counter because I couldn't stand the cold anymore, the person assisting me still hadn't found the item they were looking for. This has happened twice. I've also been made to wait for more than 30 minutes because it was close to the end of the staff's shift, and they just left and never came back. They don't have proper training or manners! Today, I finished work early, and while I was waiting for five minutes before the 6am opening time, a manager-looking person told me today was the last day for bargains. I bought a $1.99 peeler, but when I got to the register, they charged me $6.52. When I informed them of their mistake, the manager said they didn't know how to refund me my money and made me wait. Even though I thought I could go home early for a change, they kept me waiting and it put me in a bad mood, so I asked if we could cancel the purchase altogether...but the manager had already finished the paperwork and wanted me to buy it. I told him I have put it on the books and I want a receipt, but he was lazy, so he gave me half of the cash back and that was it (no altered receipt in the end). With a manager like this, of course the staff is bad, too. On top of that, when I went back to grab my memo pad I'd forgotten, they said they didn't have it...I remembered leaving it by the cash register, but they said 'you probably forgot it in your shopping cart and someone threw it away'. I'm not putting up with this kind of service anymore! I needed new chefs pants for work so I decided to go here. TERRIBLE DECISION. When I got home to try on the pants I noticed they were XL and I needed small. No biggie I would just go return them. When I got there I was told for the first time ever that there were no returns or exchanges . They didn't care to mention it on my first trip in the beginning when I got my temp pass or when I was checking out. I went to go talk to the manager and she basically brushed me out without any remorse and said nothing can be done. TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE. Best place to buy fresh fish! Ahí tuna is sold for 13 a pound. Everywhere else is 18 or more. That's the only language you need.
