Weak food, weak cocktails. Moved us mid meal, hostess rude. DO NOT GO HERE. I can not overstate how bad of an idea it is to go here.

Charming saloon vibe that really captures the past Drinks are good, true to flavors Seating is good and spread across the space Overall Thoughts A great date spot in the North Beach area read more

Loved the atmosphere in here. Had that wild west saloon feel, which was cool and unique to us. The menu was particularly awesome so if you're looking for a cool, semi-elegant experience you should definitely check this place out. They have a ride selection of items on their menu but we ended up straying away from the menu and getting a Vesper, which I was glad to hear they could make and they made all of the rounds quite well. read more

Big fan of this place. Strong, tasty, inventive cocktails and love the apothecary theme. We came around 4pm, and it was empty - we snagged a table upstairs without any issues. Perfect setting for a day date or to catch up with friends. Service was extremely attentive. Wish they sold food - I get hungry when I'm three cocktails deep! I personally enjoyed the St. Croix something - it was a rum cocktail and tasted pineapply. So refreshing! read more

The Devil's Acre - Cocktail Bars Near Me - San Francisco, California

As bars go, this one has a lot going for it. The bartenders look very cutting edge--they all have the requisite shaved head, full beard, and extensive tats. They also know their craft. I've been to plenty of big-city speakeasies and these guys compare pretty favorably in terms of pure mixology. Their custom cocktails are imaginative and the ones we had were all delicious, though they ran the gamut from light to 'spiritous' and the server was very precise in describing them to us in detail. The only place they messed up is that we had a bigger party so we called for a reservation. When we got there, the only person visible in the bar was the bartender, who didn't know about the reservation, and every table had a sign that said "reserved" on it, so we didn't know where to sit. The bartender didn't know either, so we commandeered a few tables and pulled them together. When the server showed up she said it wasn't where they wanted to put us but they weren't going to move us either. Not a big deal, nobody died or went to prison, but not quite the 5-star performance. I'd definitely recommend it though. A nice place with a good vibe and great drinks. read more

Best place ever!! Katy is amazing and fantastic drinks for a super good price. Have been coming here before covid and during covid and they finally opened up their indoor! Super cool vibes and great for dates! read more

Really enjoyed this spacious speakeasy spot on a Friday night after dinner at nearby Trestle. Without live music it was pretty quiet and we had an easy time getting a table. Our waitress was very helpful with the cocktail options -- recommend the Three Sworn Enemies (which also had "gold dust" for the kicker). From the Local Edition / Bourbon & Branch folks, I'd rate this above Local Edition but below B&B. read more

Terrible service. After buying multiple drinks and having an enjoyable night, waitress literally pulled our chairs out from under us to give to another party. Haven't seen service this bad in a while. read more

Pluses: the interior is cool vintage. The mixologists are very serious. Minuses: out of four cocktails, only one was a semi-hit. Even their version of a Manhattan seemed off. We look for balance and complexity. A cocktail always loses if it's overly sweet or doesn't play with its ingredients well. A very noisy interior. And like so many of these places, no munchies to even out the ingestion of the spirits. On the face, the drinks look very creative, but they just didn't do anything for us. Will try again when their menu changes. read more

Pretty good bar. Atmosphere ok. Drinks pretty tasty. 3/5 stars just cause it seems pretty average, nothing over the top special about it but definitely not the worst. Great place to sit around and have a few drinks to pass time. read more

1 star because of the terrible security! My friends and I came here last night, a Friday night, and security wouldn't let one of my friends in because he was smoking his vape pen outside too close to the doors. I mean come on, he was outside he was not breaking the law. A few of us ended up going in. The bar was pretty much empty. There's a single person bathroom upstairs and me and two girlfriends went in together. Girls go to the bathroom together all the time, it's harmless. Well, while my friend was on the toilet, security comes banging on the door screaming for us to open the door. He was yelling pretty aggressively, we thought something bad must've been going on. He forced us to open the door while my friend was exposed and mid pee, and made two of us leave the bathroom because it was 'a single use bathroom.' Not okay!! Unbelievable. Drinks were pretty good and the bartenders were great, but definitely not worth the bullshit security. Never going back again! read more

Great ambiance, delicious drinks, fun atmosphere! One of the bartenders had somewhat of a weird attitude with us but we didn't let it dampen our spirits. I like the feel of this establishment and the classic cocktails they offer. We were here early in the evening on New Years Eve and the place became packed shortly after we arrived. Although I don't usually like any vermouth in my vodka martini, the martini we ordered had their homemade vermouth in it and it was to die for. Really impressed with the drink selection and the attention to detail in each hand crafted drink. Great little spot. read more

Situated off the corner of Columbus and Broadway, the Devil's Acre is a stunning space with an apothecary/pharmacy theme that combines a festive atmosphere with a sense of class. The outdoor seating features some of the best views of San Francisco - and in a city full of amazing views - that says a lot. But the killer views are equally matched by the fantastic service (Carson rules) and mouthwatering food (the chicken is to die for) If you are looking for a fun night out with a touch of sophistication, The Devils' Acre checks all the boxes. 5 star experience all the way. read more

This place is busy even on Tuesday night. It is very loud, we almost can not hear the music. I almost never feel compelled to write a review, so it must be good, right? My boyfriend and I were checking out some cocktail bars in San Fran recently and this one really stuck out due to overall experience. The drinks kick ass, the decor kicks ass, the bartender/GM kicks ass. Ask for Jack (I think that was his name); he's the best. We'll be going back for sure to try their new drink menu when we're back in town! read more

If you like unique, edgy places... check this place out. I had the Lauchlan's antiscorbutic (a gimlet) and I think I'd sell my soul to the devil for another (kidding). Awesome cocktails and atmosphere. I ordered the gin cocktail and a vodka sprite and they were great. Was looking for a nice place to chill/hangout after a birthday dinner and stumbled upon this place after some yelping. The space was very clean and elegant with candles lit at every table. While it isn't the biggest bar, there were more than enough empty tables on a Saturday night to seat a large group of 10 together. The drinks were pretty good - I tried the Pineapple Julep and a sip of my friend's ginger beer. One of my friends got the Prospector, which had gold sparkles in it. The overall ambiance was nice and comfortable. Great place to catch up with a group of friends. read more

The Devil's Acre - Three sworn enemies (left) & pisco punch (right). Both disappointing. - Cocktail Bars Near Me - San Francisco, California

My love for bars in San Francisco always grows exponentially due to places like these. Dimly lit, decently sized, rustic looking bar in the north beach area just besides th popular italian place E tutto qua. The area itself picks up at night and that's the first reason I would choose a place like this on a Friday night. I just feel that bars that are a little more spaced out and less cozy dont give me s great feel, but this one did the job. The ambience is amazing but the drinks are pricey and less in quantity, they are strong though. We were there from 11 until 1 am but it never got that crowded. It is a little slow as compared to other bars in the north beach area. If you want to sit and chat at a bar, yes this is the place. read more

I don't often come across original cocktails that shock and awe, but man do I LOVE ME SOME CHARTREUSE! It was the "Call a Treuse": Green Chartreuse, Yellow Chartreuse, Dry Vermouth, lemon, Vanilla Syrup, Egg Whites, Gold Rush Bitters, Thyme. I absolutely loved the atmosphere, and it wasn't hard to get a small candlit table to catch up with a friend while we got some pre-dinner drinks. The music, the crowd, the service, the menu- top notch. read more

My coworkers and I stopped in on our way to a restaurant. They were playing jazz music, So I think that's what attracted us. I ordered some but my co-workers ordered 2 different drinks with pineapple and they loved them! I personally don't like pineapple, So I which they had more of a cocktail selection, so I don't continue to get the same boring drinks. It also smelled like, What i thought was bleach or chlorine (at least at the bar), so I think that's what made it less welcoming for me. It would definitely be a strong 3 1/2 read more

It's weird that Yelp calls this "Chinatown" because this was clearly in North Beach. Just passing by, we were attracted to this place by the welcoming vibe and live jazz. The door man (young African American man) was very nice for a door man (more like what you'd expect from a restaurant host), and even though he carded two people in our 40s, you can't fault a guy for doing his job! SF's alcohol enforcement unit ain't getting nothing past this guy, haha. He even thanked us for coming in when we left, which again, is more friendly than door people I'm used to on the East coast. Both he and the bartender were friendlier than the employees in Vesuvio Cafe, which is why we quickly left that place and were looking for somewhere else to hang. The bartender (young white male, brown hair) was totally friendly and helpful with our drink selections. The jazz quartet all had great chops. The drummer had to be in his 70s or 80s, but he was a real pro and delight to watch, and the guitarist later told us he was a legend on the local jazz scene. [Side rant: I hope the young, techy residents of SF appreciate what they have in their jazz musicians - it's a dying art, notoriously underpaid, and the men and women keeping it going are both more cool and talented than you'll ever be. Don't buy the latest Google glass or whatever; support your local musicians, ya dopes.] The decor was outstanding. I want that wallpaper. read more

Visiting from out of town, very busy on a Saturday night with only two bartenders but they hustled and got a full bar their drinks. The sweet barback is AMAZING. Stopped into this gem and absolutely fell in love with the Chartruese drink (I think it was called let's call a truese, or something like that). I had never had it before and I've gone to two other places since asking for Chartruese drinks and they didn't have anything on the Devil's Acre. A few friends and I were looking for a post-dinner cocktail at a cozy spot in North Beach, which isn't hard to do, but we were immediately drawn into Devil's Acre. The space is a decent size, dim, clean, and gives off french vibes w/marble tables, candles, and tufted seats. A waiter cheerily seated the three of us, and was extremely helpful in helping us choose cocktails. He thoughtfully listened to what each of us liked, what we didn't like, and made recommendations. His suggestions were a hit--all 3 of us loved our cocktails. Their cocktails are craft, pretty, tasted good, and were reasonably priced. What made the place even warmer was the waiter really seemed to care whether or not we enjoyed our drinks. The hospitality here is top-notch but down-to-earth. I'll definitely be back! read more

I used to love The Devil's Acre, but ever since they greatly reduced their cocktail menu, I just haven't been as much of a fan. Their menu now consists of 8ish drinks compared to the old menu that literally had pages of tasty drinks to try for each spirit, leaving you ready to come back and conquer more. I would keep coming if at least the new menu featured stars from the old menu, but I don't think it does. Most of our group found their drink to be bitter, which is bizarre given how much I used to enjoy their cocktails. Apparently you can still find the full menu downstairs, but it is usually closed. Ambiance is still fantastic, but the new menu drops my review to just A-OK. read more
