This law firm charge alot money and did very little in exchange other than provide a soft shoulder. I would NOT hire them.

This firm would charge you to sharpen their pencils if they could. I can understand why so many bad reviews end with spending double digits and no resolution. Emails one sentence long are charged at a high unaffordable rate to those struggling during these difficult times. In my short time with this firm, I realized the lack of experience they claim to have with fed comp due to the fact that my attorney needed to do research for something they do on a daily basis or just another tactic to add on to the invoice in my opinion. No transparency with how much they charge for reading your emails. When I complained about the invoices and asked for details. Left a message and sent email to lady in charge of billing, didn't hear back from her until she received the email letting their firm know I removed them from my case. An entire retainer billed on two phone calls and probably 8 or so emails. Zero resolution or help and me doing all the leg work on multiple tasks. I could only imagine had I not done those tasks myself. Research this firm. Check reviews and complaints. Lots of bad reviews and unsatisfied clients. Many fed comp firms out in Texas and Kentucky who can help you for far better rates. Some even read and respond to your emails for free or a small flat rate. If you want to lose your case, have it dismissed for the negligence of the law firm, ruin your life and then the lawyer won't explain what happened. They said the issue was paperwork that wasnt turned in. Now their saying that wasn't the issue but they won't tell me why after I inquired. I was a sexual battery case at work with solid proof. I had experience with both major legal specialty areas at Devadoss - EEOC and Workman's Comp. I was on the phone with WC representative and lost a QUICK one thousand dollars via a marketing call seemingly designed especially to make a quick buck! on the EEOC side, I wasted 70 THOUSAND dollars on two cases. The first case was sort of "inadvertently closed" because the rather sloppy NON senior attorney neglected to tell me that I could *respond to * the Administrative Law Judge's decision and object to it. For the second case, I insisted on a competent senior attorney. Everyone KNOWS that attorneys rely on their clients to tell them all the facts in a case. But my senior attorney reFUSED to believe that my Agency was as corrupt as I was telling them it indeed WAS! So, I was *NEVER * told that there was a good chance my case would not be heard in my lifetime. Why? Because the EEOC Deadlines for a Judge to respond to a plaintiff's action have been removed!!! Horrible! I'm very disappointed in the representation (if you call it that) of this firm. They took the retaining fee and did very little on my husband's case. He could never reach the attorney when he called and it would take her days before she would return the call or she wouldn't call she would just respond to his email days later. Her responses to valid questions he had about the status of the case were very vague. And then today with all of the issues with the federal employees, he called to ask advise on what he should do and no call back, so he emailed her and she said she couldn't talk today. Over the phone they tell you they "work with a network of doctors" so you can get a 2nd opinion with a doctor that understands how to navigate federal worker's comp. That is a lie. They Google search until they find someone who accepts fed work comp, that is all. Their choice didn't even work out so I ended up finding my own doctor. They still billed me $900 for "provider search." They tell you they have someone who does most of the work for less than the $300/hour lawyer rate but that is a lie. Literally every single charge was full rate, even emails and phone calls. When they wanted another $1,000 I asked for an update and what our mutual goal was with my case; because up to that point there was no perceivable benefit. I agree with every negative review. This firm is nothing more then a money grab. I paid approx. $12,000 and they have done very little in the past 2 years! I'm still waiting for a hearing. They allowed the deadlines to pass and now I can't get additional discovery I told them to get. They failed to file motions on time to force agency to provide answers. They failed to send deposition notices I told them to do and now we can't! Like they are waiting for me to quit or fire them so they can walk away clean with full payment! THE DEVADOSS DOES NOT DESERVE EVEN ONE STAR. I GAVE ONE STAR BECAUSE I WAS HAPPY WITH MY ASSOCIATE ATTORNEY. The Devadoss law firm charged me $19,500 in more than years. It was BETTER OFF THROWING MY HARD-WORKING MONEY OUT IN THE STREET. I filed an EEO complaint because the DISHONEST consultation attorney convinced and advised me that my case was for an EEO complaint. The Devadoss law firm took my money even though they knew I didn't have enough evidence and any merits for an EEO case. I did not realize that they don't work on privacy law. During the initial consultation, I told the attorney (who answered my phone call) that my employer violated my privacy. I also told him that, as a federal employee, I had enough evidence and merit for the Federal Privacy Act law. However, the attorney avoided discussing Privacy law; he convinced me that my case was an EEO case. He tried to convince me that my employer discriminated against me because I was Asian and 61 years old. This attorney was not honest, and I am saying this because this attorney could tell me that his law firm does not work on Privacy law and advised me to go to another law firm that could help with my case. He just wanted clients so the Devadoss Law Firm could make money instead of helping people. In three and half years, they kept telling me I had the only option to appeal after losing every appeal. If they were honest, they could tell me they couldn't help me further after the first or second appeal. It was sad and silly that they finally told me my next option was to go on trial or appeal for reconsideration. I did not accept their advice any further because I realized that another cost for reconsideration and the reconsideration would not come in my favor. The trial will cost too much money, and I may lose. The attorney working on my case was an associate attorney who tried his best based on his ability and experience. Absolutely a cash grab, everytime they called was to replenish the funds. To write a narrative literally cost me over 4000 dollars, which took Kelly my lawyer like 6 months to complete. I can only share my experience with this Law Firm: Well, I know this Law Firm for myself as I have been doing business with them for well over 6+ years now? And to be honest, prayers led me along the way in dealing with them and seeing right through them in how they work. / I hired them when I received a windfall of money and what I learned about them was this: I have two cases with them. The first case was already established and I was utilizing them to help me get upgrades on my first case which was an epic failure! Midway in between hiring them, I paid them for a second case that needed to be established. How about, I won my second case without their help. But, what I got to see for myself, is that when you bring on an Attorney to represent you in a matter, the opposition changes, meaning, they now act a bit differently since you now have the Law on your side. / Without getting down with the Nitty Gritty, I felt that my Representation was too weak. I've been through several Attorneys in that Law Firm and I'll say my first one, she taught me a lot. But after her, things weren't the same. I had a male Attorney who wasn't on the same page with me for various reasons and after I complained on him, he was removed and I was given someone new, even though I asked for a true Fighter! I felt they had given me someone fresh off the streets! She was polite and all, but a tad bit too soft for me. She tried, but she too did not measure up. She only gave me promises she never fulfilled! Etc. Then they called themselves trying to DROP My Cases. I gave them a 'Fight' on that one too because I paid them too much money to represent me and then they started trying to hand me over to a Paralegal? But that's NOT what I paid for. / So, what's the problem now you ask? The problem is, my cases are taking tooooooo long to close out. Then they had the nerve to tell me, they fulfilled their part of my contracts, and the only thing left is to help me get a Scheduled Award / Impairment rating and settlement. We haven't even gotten to that point yet but we're almost there, and yet, they are not responding as of two or three months ago? But I have to add a few more upgrades and then I'll be ready to Push them into Action. They have to honor the final steps on both cases! I mean, how awful! I'm not done with them yet! Also, I Thank GOD for showing me some things with them. The most painful one was, they tried to get my cases dropped by responding after the deadlines. But my Cases were spared and left open because I stepped in and argued for myself before the deadline, and GOD ALMIGHTY made that Sufficient for me to stay in my Blessings. I retained them for an OPM case. it took nearly 2.5 years and 3 different attorneys to get it done. the prior two were fired for not doing their jobs. they will tell you how they can do this and that for up before you retain them. After you do, they will ghost you. I could never get a hold of my attorney on the phone. I would instead get a call about 2 days later at the most inconvenient times. I basically had to do most of the leg work. after my disability retirement was finally approved, I was left flapping in the wind. these guys are absolutely worthless. After years of dealing with a corrupt federal system and unscrupulous characters on my own; the Devadoss team went to work to quickly get justice, and recover money lost. Without Devadoss my case would have dragged on and cost me in time, money and frustration. My advice for those hesitant to invest in a good law firm is to say that no matter how clearly your rights have been violated, if you don't have qualified legal help in dealing with a federal system; it is nearly impossible to prevail. They should change their name to DevaDONT Law Firm. Horrible and very unprofessional law firm. Run for the hills with this law firm. They will drag whatever it is you need to be done out for as long as you will let them and then if you finally put your foot down about it they will drop you with no warning or reason. They charge for every little thing, and never get back to you the same day, it may even be a week later or sometimes more. This is even if the matter in question is urgent from the department of labor or your employing agency. In my case, on several occasions, I was charged for something that I had already taken care of, simply because they took so long to get back to me on it and they wouldn't even realize that I no longer needed their help on the matter. I paid for them to handle my appeal and they gave me an estimate on how long that would take and an estimated price, which I understood that they could potentially go over on hours, and then at that point, if they went over, I would have to put more funds on my account, and I was okay with that. I was good with that until the 3rd time the law firm asked for me to put more funds on my account for the SAME appeal. My attorney, Lisa Varughese, never could answer my questions about my case, she could never get back to me promptly and it took 10 months for them to finish and submit my appeal. And I told Lisa I could not wait a year for my income to be reinstated, she assured me that it would not take that long and so I added funds for them to handle it. This was in October of 2021, and they did not get it submitted until 07/27/2022 it was only completed then because I finally put my foot down about adding funds for something I had already paid for twice! It takes the department of labor 90 to 120 days to review and get back to you with a decision. So here it is, a year later, and still no income. Miranda Zepeda (assistant office manager), said that they would go ahead and submit the appeal for me (as they should, I have paid them $6,700) but that my retainer account would be empty and therefore I would need to add funds if I needed anything from Lisa or if the department of labor needed any additional information. I was fine with that too, and they have not requested any additional information since the appeal has been submitted. But now all of a sudden, without any warning, I logged onto ECOMP and see a letter from the Devadoss Law Firm stating that the representation of me has been concluded. This is after I paid them $6,700 while having no income, the appeal was to get my income reinstated, so they knew very well that I had no income to keep having to add funds over and over and over again. I had to borrow all that money and they will not even give me a reason why they did that, and they are stating that they can no longer represent me either, also with no reason. Also, when I initially started calling them last week, 9/20/2022 about the letter I saw on ECOMP, just innocently trying to figure out what happened and how much money I needed to borrow for them to reopen my case with them, I could not get in touch with Miranda or their office manager Andrea Meadows at all. Every time I would call because I didn't receive a callback or whatnot, they would either be in a meeting or out for the day or so on. Twice though, instead of returning my call as requested, Miranda would just send an email with the same letter I saw on ECOMP. Very unprofessional and quite frankly rude. $6,700 may not be a lot of money for some, but for someone that underwent two major surgeries this year due to my on-the-job injuries, and has no income, that is a lot for me. read more

I used this law firm for a federal worker's comp case. My initial phone call with Debbie, the lead attorney was great! But then things went downhill from there. My case was pretty straightforward. But somehow it got dragged on by the attorney I was assigned to. My attorney was probably an intern. If not, she was very new and inexperienced. I had to explain to her a few times regarding my case. Even then, I wasn't sure if she understood. My attorney had no personality and sounded very serious on the phone every time as if she was reading a script. My case finally got resolved, but I felt like I did most of the work. Not to mention that the office manager kept asking for more money. I don't recommend this firm. read more

I have used the Devadoss Law Firm in the past. I was successful. So, when my employer decided to deny my 2 reasonable accommodations and to medically remove me, I returned to Devadoss Law Firm. Again, I was successful! Debra and her team were awesome! Debra completed all of the necessary paperwork for my disability retirement. In fact, the disability retirement packet was so well put together that the lady from OPM informed me that my packet was a ray of sunshine because she did not have to request any other information. Debra always kept me well informed and always responded to my emails/calls. She made me feel like my case was the only case that mattered! I had a negative experience with Devadoss Law Firm, my attorney was Whitney. I had to keep repeating details of my case, like I was starting fresh in each email conversation, which was very frustrating. When my appeal was submitted, it was sent with incorrect dates and errors that I had clearly corrected prior to submission. When I requested correction, I was told I had to pay more money for more work to be done. I clearly explained that the errors were not my doing, along with evidence of our email conversations that contained the correct dates/info, and received the same response - pay more money or your account will be closed. I reached out to Whitney my attorney, as well as Andrea the office manager, and Debra the lead attorney who completed my initial response. I was referred to this firm for a specific attorney but the secretary refuse to let me ever speak to him. Instead I received a phone call from Stephanie at Bernstein, and because I'm studying for the EPPP for Texas licensure, I missed her call. I requested that the secretary assist me in scheduling a time for a call that was convenient for both her and me as a practitioner, but with over six calls in a week I failed to get a return phone call or an appointment scheduled. Last November I contracted Devados to file a recurrence form for me with DOL for a workman's comp issue. They promptly took my $2100 and gave me an introductory phone call where they assured me this is their specialty and that they would file the form and help me find a doctor for a second opinion. I had to email and call them for updates and was always told my form was being drafted. 4 months passed with no form being filed or a doctor's name provided to me to go see about my injury. I fired them Mid March and was informed they would send me the forms they drafted. The only thing I received 2 weeks later was an incomplete 'form's with my name inserted addressed to my current doctor requesting documentation I had already provided the attorney. I also received bill detail showing the last time my case had been touched was in February which upon analyzing showed 65% time on case work and the remaining time on provider search and responding to my emails. The $2100 was for 7 hours at $300 per hour. I contacted Debra Hauser at Devados to complain and she insisted I had been sent the documentation and sent her own bill detail in which I noticed she inserted an extra hour of time for March that was not previously there. Devados took my money and provided no service. 4 months and nothing to show. I have everything documented and prepared to file a greivance with the Texas stat bar as well as Department of Labor since Ms Devados felt the need to put in an extra hour on my bill that was not originally there. I have everything documented and unless Devados refunds my money I am prepared to take additional steps. What makes it worse is I have been in pain while waiting on Devados to do the job I hired them to do. read more
