Have been a 7 day/week subscriber for roughly 30 years, until recently with no major problems. Then around 2020 the missed deliveries started. I complained, requested credit, and have kept track. 2023 was the worst year with literally 79 misses. Each year subsequently similar numbers. Each year big promises, "we'll escalate this right now", etc., the Philippino, or whatever they are, agents can barely speak English, which adds to the frustration, etc. The one "manager" I've been able to get ahold of was useless, and it's clear they're unwilling to get to the root cause of this, whatever that may be, and solve it. Apparently, they're too stupid to understand that every lost subscriber is yet another ding to their revenues, and with the greedy little hedge fund company owner, Alden Global Capital, periodically reducing budgets and staff to maximize profit (their only purpose in life!), they can't afford that. At 8 misses so far in 2026 (3/23) I'd had enough and since my subscription was up for renewal (again with a huge price increase, now asking over $700!!!), I advised them I'd had enough. It's only a matter of time before these idiots, with their sh*t-show of an operation, go the way of the Rocky, and with the big conglomerate owners of local tv stations now merging, then what do the citizens have for decent, diversified, journalism in Colorado? So, I called this morning to advise the representative that I am not interested in their paper and to not send me anything. She claimed that I was up for renewal from 2023. Horrible unethical company. They kept raising the cost of a daily subscription until it was $3172.00 a year for a 95-year-old woman. Meanwhile over the years the paper just keeps getting smaller and thinner and less relevant with less news. SCAM! Do not sign up for this when you see a "friendly" guy offering you gift cards if you sign up for the denver post. He made it seem like you could cancel no hassel but this was a HUGE mistake. It took months to receive the paper and then I tried to cancel and they keep charging me for something I've cancelled. When the rate expired and I was paying the full rate, which is way more than I want to pay for a digital newspaper for a city I don't live in, I called to cancel. Had to tell the poor cancellation CSR nearly a dozen times that I wanted to cancel before she finally agreed to do it. I am so frustrated with the Denver Post. Warning: Read the fine print and pay attention to your bill. If you receive the "special editions" you will be charged extra for them. Each cost $6.99, This amount is subtracted from your bill but not on your invoice. You can only cancel it by calling in. You eventually get behind on your bill and they cancel your service with no notice. Then when you do call the find out what is happening, they will demand more money to restart you service. This is what happened to my 83 year-old mother. When she called in, they made it so confusing, telling her she had 2 different accounts and she owed money now. Today I spoke to an agent from the Philippines who said it was "escalated." Scam subscription practices. In a moment of weakness, I gave my info to one of the obnoxious sales people at King Soopers (Smoky Hill and Himalaya). He told me I would receive a call to confirm subscription. I never did and I've never received a paper. I noticed I've been charged twice a month for months. I called customer service to get cancel and get a refund. Customer service told me I would receive a call back within 48 hours. The next day I started receiving a paper. However, I never received a call. I called back a week later only to find out my subscription had been extended. Now, allegedly, my subscription has been cancelled and I'm supposed to receive a call back. I'm not betting on it. Cancelling the card that is being charged. I just cancelled my subscription after almost 14 years. My monthly bill just went up from $16.25 (already too much) to $25.96 for online plus Sunday delivery. It was not delivered last Sunday, not the first time this has happened. When I called, the automated system promised to deliver it the next day, but it was not. (For context, we used to get it at our individual doors in our condo building. It devolved to inside the building door - or sometimes outside the door or outside our gate 40 feet away.) Meanwhile, the paper has shrunk, they've terminated a lot of good writers, and it's mostly ads. I'm not sure why advertisers would waste their money this publication. So the Post person I spoke to on the phone this morning had a thick accent I couldn't understand (and I'm pretty good with such things), was rude when I asked her to repeat and hung up on me as soon as she confirmed that she would cancel my subscription, in the middle of my sentence as I was commenting on the lack of delivery. I've been a subscriber for many, many years. I called last year to change my "Sunday Delivery Only" subscription to digital only. It worked for about 6 months, then in March I started getting the Sunday Paper (actually delivered about 1-2 times a month). This subscription fee is about $24/month. I looked at my credit card bill and I was charged 3 times in November and 2 times in December. I called yesterday (30 minutes on hold) and a supervisor told me that they were 'special edition charges'. A special edition that was charged the same amount as a whole monthly subscription? Our conversation didn't go well especially since he asked me "why did you ask for a supervisor" when he answered the phone. I only asked for someone in billing but I was happy when it was automatically escalated to a supervisor right away. It was a very heated discussion and he told me that the only way to opt out of the special editions was to contact them. How do I know I will be billed for this? Apparently there are instructions on page 2 of the newspaper on the bottom that indicates the procedure for opting out. What??? No credits to my account, so this means in November I paid almost $70 for the digital version and the 4 papers that were delivered. Really? Print media including the Denver Post is dying on the vine and Denver Post business practices (subscriptions) are suspect. My mom is on my digital account and she reads the news on her iPad every day, and that is the ONLY REASON I am continuing my digital subscription. I have had to settle for reading the Post since the good newspaper THE ROCKY MOUNTAIN NEWS stopped printing. The price is outrageous for a paper made up in 14 pages with many stories from other major papers just reprinted, taking up pages not covered in ads. When I was on monthly billing to my credit card I got the paper two or three times a week. I called to complain 43 times then gave up and told them to lose my credit card, which they did. They call wanting me to subscribe again. Yesterday the pitched me by phone. I told them they had worn me out and I would do without a paper. I work for Conesco Storage Systems. In August of 2023, we renewed our yearly subscription for $632.15. Shortly after Conesco renewed, we stopped receiving the paper. I called to report a missed delivery every day for over a week. The next week we received a paper on Monday and Tuesday. After that we have not been delivered any other papers. The deliveries resumed inconsistently and then stopped again in November. I called to complain about missing papers again and requested a refund. Our case was "escalated" and I was told a refund would be issued in July. I have called twice this month and they tell me the check is "being processed".
