You can top out, and climb up the top, onto the platform, and down a simple route with extra handles. Good experience, I'll be back!

He asked a few questions, then determined that it should be OK for me to go on the hike. Shortly before the hike we received an email from Dave saying that because of the warm weather the trip would not have as much ice as it normally does. He offered to reschedule or refund our money if we wanted, but also said we could go if we wanted. We wanted. When I got there Dave and the guides were fantastic. Very personable. They were helpful but without being intrusive. One of them carried one of my forearm canes in his backpack in case I needed it. (This was to have one hand free for the ice axe.) The hike was great. At the end of the hike I asked one of the guides if he thought I could do the repelling they offer... he conferred with the owner and the lead repeller guide, and they agreed that I would be allowed to do that in the Spring. I highly recommend Valley to Summit for a great time. I look forward to a full day ice hike in February.

There were only 5 of us, so plenty of time to climb. Our Guide, Bob, was so patient, engaged and informative. I learned a lot of great things that I had not known before about clothing, ropes and technique. Bob was so patient with me and was there with his " green pointer" to help me over the tough spots. You should know that I am 74 years old and tho I have climbed indoors for a few years, my stamina was not that of the youngsters who were there! Nonetheless, it was a great time! I was looking to host a group of about 20 for a networking event at my company and we wanted to make it fun but also affordable. Elite Climbing certainly fit the bill. They guided us through setting a date and time as well as ensuring we get our waivers in before arriving. When we arrived, they got us right into the swing of things. For the casual climber, they have harnesses, teach you how to belay, and let you go on your way around the gym! It's a cozy rock climbing gym but certainly has walls with varying difficulty all around. There are bouldering areas but I was not quite ready for that challenge; many of the more seasoned climbers would go there. The heater motor burned out on Tuesday and NO repairs have been made and there is no information available regarding status. It is COLD in the gym. And with next week's forecast showing highs in the 20s, this is not sustainable. An indoor business like this should have HVAC issues resolved same day or, worse case, next day. We're on Day 4 and no workers anywhere. I plan to ask for a refund for any days where it is too cold to use the gym.

Overall, it is well organized by color, and easy to follow. There is not a plethora of tape on the wall . Each climb also has the difficulty level posted with a corresponding color. This gym needs 2 feet things to make it 5 stars: a good cleaning of the thick dust covering everything (walls, mats, floor, items for sale, etc) and deodorizing of the foot smell.

My 11 year old son attended Climbnasium for a birthday party and had a blast. He received a gift…read morecard shortly after, so I took a belaying class so that he could go top roping with his gift card. The class was informational and thorough, and the instructor made sure I was doing it safely and confidently before sending us off on our own. There were a paths with varying difficulties and my son was able to challenge his limits. There were more people in there than I expected, but there was plenty of space for everyone, and everyone was very courteous and encouraging. He also did some bouldering. He can't wait to go back! I may need to invest in some belaying gloves. :)

I've been coming here a whole lot more frequently since joining the recreational climbing team…read more (It's FREE for students, faculty and staff, so what's not to like?!) The routes get changed every semester or so for both bouldering and top rope climbing, and there are two auto-belays if you go there and don't have anyone to help belay you. (The people who go are also super nice--I've had people offer to belay me whenever I go alone!) They offer belay classes here as well--I think it's around $30, and once you're certified (they test you 3 times before letting you do your thing), you can come whenever you want! If you don't plan on getting belay-certified, you can still boulder whenever you want! :] For guests, it's just $5 for admission, which is about 1/4 the price of any day admission to the nearby climbing gyms. Harness rental is always free and shoe rental is $1 each time (free for your first time there though!)
