The staff here is awesome! They were very helpful. It was my first time at this rock climbing wall and I was on a date and I had such a good time. The guys were very helpful and encouraging so I wouldn't give up when I was climbing. Also, the place is very inclusive to all types of people, which made me super comfortable and I really appreciated that. I know they can get busy, so we went during the day and it was very laid back and the walls are super tall, so don't do it if you're afraid of heights. Otherwise, it's great place for a date and do actually do something fun and physical. They have different packages that are also very affordable and can correlate with what kind of experience you really want. Overall, I'd highly recommend this place. read more

Excellent job with our 5-yr-old! We first visited Delaware Rock Gym when our daughter was 3 1/2. She was kind of scared and they didn't charge us anything even though they helped her for at least 30 minutes. C started talking about going back again recently (now 5 1/2) so we went for it. Nikki was so sweet with her. She always encouraged her to get a little higher, but respected when she said she wanted to come down. Nikki spent more time with our daughter than technically should have been included with the 3 times up for $20, and they even let my husband sign a release and climb beside her once. Because of their kind patience, C was able to get all the way to the top! The gym itself is clean and spacious. It's cool (temperature) for the climbers working hard so if you aren't climbing bring a sweatshirt. We fully recommend this gym and hope to return soon! I could see it being a really cool family activity even with my teens. read more

We're from CT, we were just in town for the weekend at the beach. We decided to drop by this gym since with had our gear with us. The belay check took 5 mins. The staff was very friendly. The gym itself has tons of walls to climb. The height varies from 20-45ft. We ended up spending 5 hours climbing. Mad fun!!!! read more

The Delaware Rock Gym - Rock wall - Rock Climbing Near Me - Bear, Delaware

So fun, and a bit of a rush. I don't know diddly-squat about rock climbing. So I thought it'd be nice to take it up and change my workout routine. I tried their beginner's trial course which has 3 climbs up the taller walls. My instructor's name was Eric? (Forgive me if I am wrong). He was super knowledgeable, pleasant, and genuinely showed interest in holding a conversation as well as making me comfortable. As for the look of the place, it's very neat, clean, and up-to-date. No funky smells at all. They have an IPad station at the front desk to complete their safety agreement. The bathrooms are super clean and they have cubbies to hold your things. I would suggest having lockers available since I had to hold my purse in the car. I'm a little bummed I have to find my own belayer for next time, so I may just take up bouldering. There are a ton of walls with different difficulty levels and the environment is very relaxed. No pressure. Not even sore, I will be back! read more

So much fun! I've never been rock climbing before and was skeptical about going, but it turned out to be a lot of fun. I went "bouldering," which is a rock climb without any ropes on ~10 foot walls. They have it shown on the home page of their website. This place is kind of out in the middle of nowhere. Our GPS couldn't find Carson Rd. You can use 1162 Porter Rd. to find the rock gym. I think the guy that worked there thought that I didn't have fun because I was only there for a little over an hour... The real reason was weak arms. read more

This is a great place for beginners and experienced climbers. I've always been curious about rock climbing, but I live in Delaware, one of the flattest states in the U.S.! The staff is super friendly. They are patient and will give you the motivation to get over any fears you may have and to reach the top of the wall, without being annoying or overbearing. They have many rock walls at various hieghts and degrees of difficulty. On my first visit, I decided to go with the trail climbs. This was great for me because after three climbs I had no more strength in my forearms and hands to continue for an additional fourth climb. I've been here twice and both times, it was crowded. Don't fret; because this place is big enough where you don't have to wait around to climb. They have a pro shop that sells rock-climbing equipment, but you do not need to have the equipment for climbing. You can rent rock-climbing shoes if one wants to or keep on your sneakers and give it a go. They offer classes on Saturday. I think that is my next step. read more

Although a novice, I feel exceptionally comfortable with the hardware and service. The variety of levels and encouragement from staff (and even some more experienced members) is available, whenever needed. We really think this is the best rock gym amongst the gyms we have visited, which includes, Pennsylvania, New York, and Delaware. The Delaware rock gym is much cleaner than most gyms I have been to, and they also maintain their routes much better. The price is reasonable, and there are new routes constantly being set. read more

I had my 10 year olds birthday party there and it was awesome! We had 10 kids ages 4-14 and every one of them had a blast. They had the table set up for us when we arrived and the staff was ready to go right on time. Matt was great reserving our time and with follow up. All of the people that work there were friendly, knowledgeable and great with the kids! I had one kid tell me it was the best party he's ever been to! We will surely be back! read more

A friend and I just did the trial climbs (3 climbs for $20) and it was so much fun. We both have never climbed before and heights tend to make me nervous, but Talia, our instructor, was awesome and encouraging. On our third climb I wanted to give up but she was so cool and showed me how to take a break for a second, relax, and loosen up. Looking forward to going back! read more

It is a very good place to get a work out. And the people who you meet there are cool they will offer tips and anything. But they should go to local schools and start a rock climbing clubs to get more kids into it that's what I think. But they are kinda expensive but it's worth it. read more

I went in today having no clue what I was doing. I knew I wanted to give climbing a try but I had no idea where to start. The dude working the front desk (I am so sorry, but I'm terrible with names.. sorry dude) recommended that I do trial climbs. So I gave that a whirl and let me tell you, it was so fun. Staff was SUPER friendly, helpful and encouraging. I was nervous going in because I didn't want to feel stupid for not knowing what I was doing. I was put at ease from the start and he was very patient with me. I hadn't even walked out the door and I was already planning on coming back. 5 stars from me. A friend recommended De Rock Gym as an idea for my 11 year old son's birthday. I knew it was a real roll of the dice for a group of video game loving kids-but gosh I'm glad we took a gamble. The kids had an amazing time. The two hours flew by and we basically had the gym to ourselves. (we chose the 11 am slot) It was such an incredible experience watching the kids challenge themselves and encourage one another. My husband and I even climbed a few walls. We had two awesome guys helping belay us and they were super supportive and just great with the kids. I would recommend this place as a terrific birthday party location- but also just a great place to spend some family time or even a date night. It was a great workout, I'm still sore and we left feeling somewhat empowered. It may have been a result of the 8 super excited kids or perhaps feeling accomplished for climbing up a super high wall. I was so excited to hear about a Rock Gym in Delaware, but was so disappointed! Our party was for two adults and two children. I have been to other places that give prices for children and/or for a family; this was not an option at DE Rock Gym. We also had a terrible customer service experience! We walked in and were given liability waivers and kept being told "we will be with you in a minute". A minute turned into 30 minutes while other patrons, who came in later, were given service before us. The staff was rude and treated us like we had never climbed before. I will not return; had better service and great time at both Phila Rock Gym and Elite Climbing in Maple Shade NJ. Disappointed. read more

My family and I had the best time here today. We went for some trial climbs to see if we liked it. It was so fun.It's awesome for all ages. My kids are 3 and 7. They had a blast. The staff it truly awesome as well. Very nice, polite, informational and enjoyable. We will be back and highly recommend to try it. read more
