UPDATE: 5/1/2017 I am ok with 4 stars now. The Davey Team contacted me following this review and made good with their services. The team was very apologetic and fit me right in. They also offered fertilizing for my two Spruce trees at no charge to compensate for my time. The crew came and cut the invasive tree to spec, removed my 3 bushes, cleaned up and were very polite. The following week the moth man returned to spray my trees and as I write this the fertilizer fella is here doing as promised. Thank you for great service. I keep the last star ;} I cannot review Davies Tree Service work, I can only review their customer service or lack there of. They did not show up for me. I called to make an appointment for an appraisal in the very beginning of March this year. I had to wait 2 weeks for the appraiser but when he came I explained to him the urgency of the matter. I have a large linden tree growing directly into one of my twin Blue Spruce trees in my front yard, which is slowly killing it and I needed the branches remove before the tree leaves out. I was told they were two weeks out on appointments and that it would be taken care of in plenty of time. Here it is April 17th and the tree has leaves! No one from Davey has been here yet, no one's called me to make an appointment! I've called the company 7 times, SEVEN, and have received two apologizes with promises of appointment and return calls with actual appointment date. James Herrick is the man whom was to set that up but I'm still calling. I called one last time this morning and had to leave a voicemail since no one was there to answer the phone. I asked for a supervisor to return my call but we shall see. Immediately hung up, called another tree service and got an appointment for tonight. Same day. I cannot recommend this company to anyone and as a small business owner here in Columbus, I am beyond disappointed in the lack of customer service and care. read more

Completely horrible customer service. Called to schedule a service, they had an old address. Had them update the address for the appt- never showed to the first appt. Called to find out why- apparently was never placed on the calendar and old address still in the system. Rescheduled service and corrected address for 2nd time. An hour into my second appt window called to make sure I was still on the calendar for the day- still had wrong address . Tried to correct the service address for the third time and the woman would not let me talk to correct her on the address again, continuously speaking over me. Asked to speak to the manager who would not pick up the call. Cancelled the appt and will never use their service again. read more

I was with Davey for more than 15 years until this year. I have a wild cherry tree that was been treated for fire blight and I just happened to be home in the early spring of 2023 when the technician showed up and sprayed the trunk of the tree and when I questioned why and instead of spraying the leaves he said because the height of the tree, I didn't know any better so I let it go, in the fall the technician showed up for trees and shrubs treatment and he never got out of the truck. I googled the treatment for leaf blight and found the spray has to be on the leaves and by spraying the trunk was wasting $300.00 . I called the assigned arborist and told him what happened and said the technician was new and I had to give him a chance to learn his job. No offer of reimbursement! needless to say I canceled my contract and went with another vendor. So disappointed in Davey Tree Services. read more

Have been using DAVEY tree experts for 15 years. They treat my lawn, shrubs and trees ...my neighbors say I have the best yard in the neighborhood. They also trim large trees and inserted braces/wires in my redbud to hold up the branches (broke off in a storm). They might seems expensive but it is worth it since landscaping is soooo expensive to install. read more

What a disappointment . We have used Davey Tree for years Without issue. This summer they have failed to deliver, never responded back and were rude. Their employees showed up weeks after promised and did not deliver on the time frame we agreed upon. Worse they never completed the job of cleaning out our beds. They left debris, dirt, old mulch etc... Their idea of spring clean out is superficial at best. They never responded to our complaints for weeks and when they did were rude and disingenuous. Do yourself a favor a choose another company for your landscape needs read more

Terrible service! Scheduled stump removal . No one showed. I called after 2 days and no return call. 4 days later I called again and was told that they were just out to give a quote and they left one at the house AND emailed a quote. Neither happened. No quote left and no email sent. Yes I checked my junk file. I was then told I would get a call back from the service person who was headed into a meeting. never called. I called again. no answer and no call back. I work in the service industry and understand current staffing challenges and have very low expectations but not showing up, lying about what you did (quotes) and not returning calls that you told me was going to happen is unacceptable. Lost my business and I will never recommend. read more

Columbus Davey tree was so great through the process. We needed a large tree cut down that was partially over the house. They came quickly for my free quote and then got me scheduled for a tree removal within a week. They were lower priced than the other companies that I got quotes from too! When they came out, they got the tree cut down really quickly and safely and cleaned up everything really well. A great experience for tree removal! read more

After getting quoted $2600 from one company to get two maple trees trimmed up I started looking around for another quote. I found this company and was soooooo glad I did. They did the work for a quarter of the first quote and did an amazing job. I've had my trees trimmed before by another company and after I paid them I found a ton of branches that still needed trimmed. Not the case with Davey. They did such a nice job, I only found one branch that they might have missed, but you really can't complain about that, the overall appearance of the trees looked really nice. The employees were real professionals, very courteous, and highly educated in what they were doing. I would highly recommend these guys, first class all the way. I'll definitely be using them again. read more

I am so greatful & appreciative of everyone at Davey! Including the sales arbornist Chris S, he was very knowledgeable and informative. They removed a large maple tree and smaller tree from my yard, and they cleaned up well! Would recommend them to anyone! read more

I work for a very large company that asked me to get multiple bids on a Landscaping maintenance contract in our Ohio location. After searching and reaching out to a lot of vendors, Mike at Davey got back to me the fastest. He included pictures in his bid which seems trivial to readers, but he was the only one that actually went onto the property, took pictures of everything that needed to be done, explained it, and priced it. So far his explanations and help on everything has been wonderful and I have urged my company to use this company solely based on Mike. We are still in the process of ironing everything out, but I am very excited for the services this company will bring to our site and I highly recommend Davey! read more

I had a wonderful experience with Davey Tree. They were not the first company I contacted to remove a couple dead trees, but they were the most responsive. Davey responded to my email right away, got my quote and took the trees down as quickly as weather permitted. The team that removed the trees and stumps were professional and efficient. Avoid! They used to have a stellar reputation here in Columbus between 2016-2019; competitive prices, timely service, great crew. I've been doing this for 22 years. Used to use them at least once/year for past 6 years to maintain properties being managed. Since 2019 (pre-Covid), they started charging an unjustified premium for the exact same service. Their attitude seems to be this...we have so much work, we can just throw out a price and see if it sticks. Just received an estimate for $5,200 (!) to have a single silver maple removed. Rick is going to pipe up and try to say something like "there are many factors we consider, etc..) BS. This job should have come in around $2200-2700 max. Any questions I proposed regarding a better more affordable way of approaching the job (cut & leave limbs on property, topping off a tree, etc) are rebuffed as ridiculous. Do yourself a favor and move on with an agency like Barlett or others...don't waste your time here. read more

I met with Don Wells today and could not be happier with my experience. His knowledge level was obvious and he really took the time to explain things to me. My husband and I were puzzled by the lines of holes in the trunk of our 60-foot pine tree. Googling the problem told us the problem was caused by sapsuckers, but the posted remedies were all over the map. I called Davey Tree, who had done good work for us before, and Tom Bowman came out to inspect the tree. He said none of the remedies on the internet would work and suggested deep fertilization. He also easily diagnosed my dead American Dogwood (anthracanose) and made suggestions for replacement trees. We hired Davey Tree to fertilize both our large pines. The technician who did the work was friendly and answered all my questions thoroughly. A good company! read more

I wish I could have rated them based on actual tree service, but since they never answer their phones or return calls, I can only rate based on the horrendous customer service. Three different times I called, all about a week apart, no one ever answered the phone. Each time I left messages, with two different numbers I could be reached at, never once received a return call. I've called three tree service companies and only one had at least the courtesy to call back. It's really tough to find good service these days. read more

piss poor company. had them do work in past and they were great. this time wanted some brush, bushes removed & a couple stumps ground down. just quoted Brush & stumps. fine i cleaned up bush area and decided to keep them. here is short version called a week after i told them to do work. was told they could be out that week.. they were no shows, called next week left message..tuesday morning crew was out removed brush then was called and told stumps would be out bt end of week,. that came and went.. following week called.. and was told a stump needed to be cut down and wood moved (was same way when job was quoted) so i moved wood and was told they would be out in morning to cut stump more and end of week stump would be gone... guess what happened no-shows.... finally i've had enough called told them no longer on property...made a post following week on FB and was told to send them e-mail...which i did on June 12th. i called on 28th to pay for part of job done explained to person on phone what happeded.. said i would be contacted by someone...well here it is another week later nada..... so in almost a month since work wasn't complete no-one has even bothered to call me or respond to a e-mail. worst customer "service" just piss poor....i dont know whats happened there in last couple years but they went from fantastic to piss poor...and yes i was a returning customer. no longer.. only reason for 1 star is people were nice on phone read more
