Love a new spot in the hood to grab a cocktail and can't wait for the warmer weather...patio season!!!! Stopper in here at about 8p on Friday night. Place was jammed and loud! We were able to snag a barstool at a side counter. The chairs were odd...they had like a hydraulic aspect to them. Lol. The space is cute. The bar is small. It's like a galley style bar. They currently don't have food or nibbles but supposedly in the near future. The service was on point. As soon as we sat, we were brought menus and waters and asked if we had questions. The servers were both very attentive. The drinks were ok. I was hoping for a little more. The old fashioned was a little too sweet and tasted light on the booze. The in the snow (or something like that) was good, basic, and instagrammable, but didn't have enough ice. What a great edition to the area! I love bars that pay attention to detail and I was drawn to the floral bar mural right when I walked in. :) Such a cozy spot! I'm a huge whisky lover, so I decided to go with the Old Fashion first and it hit the spot. I also highly recommend the Crockpot cocktails. It's basically a warm cocktail, but they rotate drink selections. Lucky for me the night I went it was a rye whisky based. Definitely kept me feeling all warm and fuzzy. Wow! 10/10 amazing patio, open late every day if the week, solid happy hour deals, way cool n swanky decor inside and a staff that treats everyone like long lost family. Im never 100% sure who my primary waiter is because everyone goes out of the way to check on you but I like that. This place is adorable! I went for their Halloween pop-up and the decor and themed menu were adorable. Inside, there's a decent sized bar and some tables but the patio area is much bigger and has firepits and heaters so even when it's cooler you can still sit outside. I went to this place randomly after walking down Milwaukee to meet my wife during one of those horrible "show up to the office" days for her. I'm sure this won't arouse much sympathy with the industry crowd but this time has obviously been different for us as both work from home, office workers living in Wicker Park. A date out is a bit outside the status quo and ending up at Dandy Crown was completely unplanned. I'm so happy we randomly stepped in here after meeting each other outside on our reunion walk. This is without a doubt the best cocktail bar on Milwaukee between Grand and Armitage. The cocktails were absolutely splendid. The service was incredibly attentive and professional. The decor inside in lovely. Intimate two top tables near lounge areas for bigger parties around aesthetically pleasing coffee tables. There is a nearby fireplace and the bar is warm and inviting. Our server put Arrested Development on the single TV above the bar which was very appreciated. A friend ended up meeting us after a bit and they moved our table with the most graciousness. We had several small plates of incredible food and the cocktails here are rivaled by none. I'm a bit hesitant to write this review because i love the ability to show up here and get seated without a res but this place is truly top of the line in a somewhat up and coming area along Milwaukee. I hosted my birthday celebration here on May 29th and loved every minute of it. I was lucky enough to reserve two fire pits next to each other and the environment was so comfortable (even if it dropped to 60 degrees outside). The patio is protected by beautifully painted murals and dangling tree limbs. The groups are spread comfortably apart. Danica, our server was lovely. Josh, our bartender mixed amazing cocktails! La Siesta and Mr Blue Sky were the groups favorites. I didn't loooove the brussel sprout dish but every other snack was great. All the friends I brought had never heard of this spot and I think more people should support this business. I'm also super lucky this place is on my way home from work. read more

My friend and I were at the bar and had few rounds of drinks - we were never asked if we wanted another drink. We had to ask every time. Each time a different bartender. We stepped outside and let the bartender know. And put coasters on our drinks we came back and they had thrown out our drinks and water glasses. The food options are limited and weird at best. When we asked the server for recommendations he pretty much just listed the menu providing no reason why the dishes he mentioned were his favorite. I can read a menu, I was looking for your opinion. Bartenders were smoking outside in front of customers on the patio while people are waiting for drinks and were shoveling cheese deep into their mouths like it was the last supper in front of customers. We found this gem while taking Covid walks during the day this summer. Our long walks turned into a walk for cocktails on this beautiful patio. Only to find out these are some of the best cocktails in the city! The patio is so well done and the staff does a great job with social distancing and accommodating guests. Upon our arrival I asked if they were still serving, it was 11pm the bartender immediately said one drink. A friend of mine asked about the beer selection and boy did everything go wrong from there, The bartender sarcastically tells him there are 20 options don't expect me to read them all off to you, Scan the QR code and read them, rude I thought, Second my friend asked about the beers that are highlighted on tap and the bartender responded "are you blind" cant you see them. This was such a bad experience, I personally told him to ease off that he was being inappropriate, of course he ignores. Very disrespectful person, I'm shocked he is working there. A Monday night in December calls for a quality cocktail. Well in theory any night could be a call for a quality cocktail. This week rolls out the Dandy Crown, a brick two story building adding to the neighborhood bars along Milwaukee avenue. If you are or plan to be in the River North area, stop by this new chill lounge/bar. The location is key as it's just outside of the loop and in an area that's easily accessible off the expressway. Besides a cocktail list, there are draft, bottled or canned beers options to choose from. To me, I got the impression it's a cocktail bar first as the vibe sets the tone as such. Their drink menu dedicates one side to cocktails while the other side offers beers and wines. The left side of the cocktail menu (called Old Friends) features classic cocktails like a Daquiri or an Old Fashioned while the right side (called New Friends) introduces signature cocktails with twists to them including one cocktail intended as a nightcap. I opted for the Old Fashioned which had a twist of pedro ximenez sherry in it. A nice and wonderful touch to this classic bourbon cocktail. Now for the vibe, I would describe it as a place where you'd want to hang, relax and listen to some smooth classic soul. You can tell there was some serious thought in the decor with the intention of giving you a feeling of relaxation either after a long day at work or to unwind during a weekend night out. I took a gander at their upstairs as I was told it's intended for private parties or overflow on the weekends. The lounge also has two gender less bathrooms towards the back of the bar which leads to their outside patio. I was told the outdoor patio will be open next year sometime which should be fun. There is some limited street parking along Milwaukee and it's surrounding side streets. Stop by and keep your eyes open for their can't miss The Dandy Crown white neon adorning the front of this new River North gem. read more

I've tried both the traditional rye old fashioned and the house old fashioned because that's what I do. Do me a favor: use the right proper ice. Was definitely not disappointed and so excited to have this new spot in the neighborhood!! We had Leah, Collin, and Tia working - they were all awesome, so friendly and we just had all around great service. Honestly we could not have asked for a better experience. Came for 1 drink and stayed for 2 and chatted for a while. Very cozy yet chic atmosphere, and just super comfortable. Went here this past Saturday and really liked it! We sat inside, which, if you want to sit on the patio, I would definitely suggest making a patio specific reservation. The inside was cute, more of lounge seating than any restuarant type table seating, so if you are planning to have a real meal here, it may be difficult to do at these tables inside. Definetly some cute decor though, and a very cool vibe. We were there for just some drinks and snacks, which definitely seems to be their focus, and everything was really good. Just adding to my previous 5 star review with another 5 star review! Over a year later I still love this place and I am SO happy it is surviving covid challenges. Although I don't know her personally I do see Sarah the Manager working hard to keep this place going, more amazing that it was day 1. I feel so safe going there with the protocols they have taken during the pandemic over the past year. Now I am pregnant so the items I order have changed but it's been a great way to try more of the menu. The blueberry lemonade is a delicious NA option that I cannot get enough of, I'm sure you could probably add an alcohol to it, or when you need a refreshing change from cocktails give this one a shot. I've tried some of the food options now too and Sebastian, the chef, makes incredible munchables and main courses. The chips and dips are not as simple as they sound - the chips alone are tasty snacks but paired with the dips offered are undeniably addicting. The crab dip is a really nice option that comes with little crust bread pieces, but if you get the chips you can dip those in there too! The cauliflower nachos are different than stadium nachos you may think of, and you will need a fork to indulge in this plate but do not pass this up! Add chicken too! My husband and I split this dish and were fighting over the last bite. The heirloom tomato salad may have been my favorite - it was serves with Aya Pastry sourdough bread and the flavors were incredible! Another dish my friends and I have fought over the last bite - the sheep's cheese, i think it is, mixed with the tomatoes is what summer dreams are made of. I love how Dandy Crown collaborates and works with other local businesses like Pretty Cool IceCream and Aya Pastry for desserts - don't forget to try the banana bread or samoa cake!!! There are so many more food options on the menu to try to I've only just begun working my way through it! The service was extremely slow considering it wasn't busy I was surprised it took a little under 10 minutes just to wait for a straw. Only going back out of convenience to area .
