I know it's Sunday but this place is dead. Good beer selection and good atmosphere but just no people

This is the best place in Waco to find great Texas beers. Their staff is knowledgeable on a variety of different beers, but don't come off as beer snobs. They no longer have food available at their pub, but don't mind people bringing in outside food to enjoy. They also have good specials on any day of the week. Their large tables out back, provide a nice place to enjoy a smoke with your beers. If you enjoy good beer, you'll love Dancing Bear Pub. read more

Tuesday's Trivia Night was the highlight of my week when I lived in Waco. Great beer selection and even better people working behind the bar. They have discounted Texas beers on certain nights. Bar will do fun things like have "Walking Dead" or "Game of Thrones" watch parties. Fun fact you can bring in your own food. read more

One of the greatest pubs I've been to. Do not let the outside mislead you. The craft beer selection here was amazing. They had several taps, bottles, and cans. One of the cool things here is you can order "half pints", which is useful if you're wanting to try several different beers and remember your name the next morning. The bartenders (shout out to Mario!) are awesome. One of the nicest/coolest groups of guys I've met. I also like that they have a giant water cooler sitting out. Just ask for a glass and get your hydrate on, which is very important when pounding those high gravity beers. If you're in Waco and love beer, this is your spot. read more

I am a fan of this place and the deals they offer on certain days! The staff is very friendly and it is a relaxed environment.

Pains me to drop the DB to 4 stars, but alas the prices are getting a little ridiculous. For example, Deschutes Fresh-Squeezed IPA is on tap today for $7.00/pint. Had it at Barnett's 2 weeks ago for $5/pint. Pints are $6 and up on almost all the beers now yet many of the craft breweries in Texas are struggling to make it. I don't see the price increases to this level elswhere. C'mon DB, start pricing most of your pints at $5 again and I'll love you forever..... read more

They had a GREAT selection of ciders for us gluten free folks. It has a neighborhood bar feel with a good truck in the back.

The Bear is a Waco gem, and it's within walking distance of Baylor. The size is just right. The lighting is low but not too low. The music stays in the background, and the televisions are unobtrusive. They have an excellent patio out back, where long rows of picnic benches bask in the warm glow of high-strung lights.The on-tap selection is excellent. Tuesday is trivia. Wednesday is pint night. Oh, and Food for Thought (another great name) next door provides a better-than-bar-food menu. The pizzas are great. read more

My favorite bar. I was a regular when I lived in Waco and I still stop by whenever I go through town. One of the most knowledgeable and friendly staffs ever. I blame this place for making me an obsessive craft beer snob. Food For Thought, the restaurant next door, shares a kitchen and you can order their excellent food at the pub. Simply the best, I've yet to find a favorite neighborhood pub that can compare, I'd argue that it's the best part of Waco. read more

Great place, great staff, great beers. This was my first visit to Dancing Bear Pub and I was unfamiliar with their craft beers. The bartender, Stephan, let me sample several until I decided on the Lobo Negro, a nice dark beer with a great after taste. Beyond the bar, they have a food truck in the back, with a patio, that offers more than gourmet food. I had the smoked chipotle gouda bacon burger and was not disappointed. Other than the fact that I ordered the burger as medium rare and received medium, I was not displeased. While I do not usually care for caramelized onions, as they are usually slimy, these onions were perfect. All in all, a 4 star burger, and I have had the $295 burger in NYC at Serenditipy. Definitely pay a visit to The Dancing Bear Pub and the Crazy Horse Grill in the back. read more

Best Pub in Waco. Hands down. Retro setting that is kept up really nicely. Not a dive bar at all, these guys are keeping it real.

The beer list is awesome; it's constantly rotating with lots of local beers and some beers that are hard to find elsewhere in Waco. The staff is really friendly and helpful, very knowledgeable about the beers they pour and always up for a conversation. It's filled with grad students, not undergrads, which leads to a fairly quiet space where people play board games and talk quietly. Trivia on Tuesdays is always a good time as well--we've won some cool beer glasses (and fame) on Trivia Tuesdays. read more

The rotating beer menu here is off-the-charts! They bring in new craft beer from around the state and out-of-state. The bar also hosts awesome weekly events and an annual Texas Craft Beer Festival which brings in crowds from all around the area. The staff is helpful and will always make great recommendations based on the styles you like. If you are looking for a nice, up-scale place for adults to engage in conversation, watch sports, read, or even play board games, you'll fit in here. Prices can seem a little high at times, but they'll almost always have a smaller pour for less, and they'll be glad to give you a taster sample of anything that you'd like to try before you spend money on something new. There is always plenty of parking around back and they have an awesome new covered patio area where pets are welcome. read more

As bars go, a leg up. Great and unusual selection of beers. Friendly bartender. Pretty much a self-service kind of place where you go up to the bar for your drinks and food, although they've been known to bring the food to you when it's ready. Definitely a Baylor crowd due to its proximity to that august institution. read more

As others have said, the best place in town to get a beer. The bartenders understand beer, and can recommend beers to you based upon your palette They have a good selection, they get new and hard-to find beers in regularly, and if you go a few times, you end up feeling like Norm from Cheers. The also get firkens of beers that you cannot buy elsewhere. They have tatsing, and even do bottle share events where everyone who comes brings a bottle or two of beers and everyone enjoys. read more

My favorite place to hang out in Waco. This is a true pub for people who are serious about their beer. It never gets rowdy, and you will often see business men conducting business, students studying for finals, or a church group having a Bible study. Terrific place. There's a lot to be said for being the only place in Waco to get decent food (from Food for Thought next door) and good beer. A location right down the street from Baylor makes it a no-brainer for university folks. read more

I've lived in Waco for over three years now. I used to go to this bar every week until the prices started to creep up across the board. I ended up being priced out of going and can only afford to stop by once a month or so. The employees are nice and the food truck is tasty. The beer is excellent but massively overpriced. I would love to spend more time there but I literally can't. read more
