went here for my dad's birthday with the extended family so overall we got a pretty good picture of what's available and what's good.
The Dam Inn is, first and foremost, a carvery pub and that was what many of our party opted for. The meat was not the best I've seen but portions were quite generous. The vegetarians amongst us were able to have a vegetarian carvery (in this case that's the carvery without the meat). I didn't really fancy carvery so I chose from the menu and had scampi, chips and peas. That probably sounds like a pretty standard bar meal and indeed it was except that the scampi was particularly poor quality and the price was way to high for the meal served.
Drinks were normal bar prices but fizzy drinks had unlimited refills. It was noted that none of the 'cheaper' wines on the menu were available but the moderately priced bottle of rose a few of the party shared was reported to be very nice (and by pub standards it wasn't really over priced).
Service was reasonably quick and serving staff were pleasant. I found the menu, overall, to be disappointing and information on allergies was difficult to find. read more
