Was looking for a place to eat on the water and this was the closest to Tifton. The ride was pretty and weather was perfect. Walking in we were seated immediately outside, our preference. Our waitress approached not too long after being seated. We ordered drinks and the burnt ends as an appetizer. We decided to place our dinner orders at the same time but asked they be served separately. It took a while to get our drinks but we weren't in a hurry. Aside from the incredibly annoying gnats, the ambiance was enjoyable. After several minutes, the appetizer appeared with our meals. Ok so attention to detail was overlooked, no problem. I ordered the grouper tacos with sweet potato fries and my husband got the catfish and green beans. The meals themselves were delicious. Catfish was cooked perfectly and the grouper tacos were seasoned just right. The burnt ends were drowning in big puddle of bbq sauce. The sauce was good and I used it to dip my fries, but a drizzle across them would've been more presentable. My only complaint was the lack of service. We went through our entire meal without any server checking on us. Our drinks were empty and we would've ordered more if someone came by. With tip our bill was $80. Not cheap but overall the food and scenery was worth it. read more

The Cypress Grill is located on Lake Black Shear with a beautiful view of the water, trees, and open spaces. The first impression would be the beauty - if it weren't for the stale tobacco smoke. We opted to sit outside to fully appreciate the view - then the host opened the door, I gagged from the tobacco smoke. We retreated inside where it was cleaner. Every time the server opened the door we were hit by a wall of smoke from the people who had stepped just outside to enjoy the in-progress trivia game, the football on the big screen and the ability to feed their smoke addiction. I think the place attracted every smoker i the area. The food was OK, served on metal trays with paper covers - just dumped in place. The shrimp was quite good and the catfish was served hot and tasty. The salad bar was fresh had had a normal good variety. I would give the food a 4 or even a 5, but the metal trays reduced score and the bagged forks were a kind of slum touch. The service was excellent, responsive, and prompt. There aren't many choices in Cordele - if you are visiting the trains, I suppose you might be able to enjoy the smoke. If breathing is part of your life, pick another place. read more

I got the triple threat which was burnt sausage, cold pulled pork and chicken on a stick. All 3 proteins were extremely dry and bland. The fact that the sausage was visibly burned black was sad. The wife got a chicken sandwich meal which the chicken was so dry she didn't eat it. The best part was the pretzel which was amazing, however that didn't make up for the burned entrees. Picked up some food because we are camping nearby. I ordered the honey garlic shrimp and it was neither honey nor garlic. It was just fried shrimp. I got rice with it and the rice was crunchy. The Cuban sandwich was not that great either. Also, there was no real social distancing going on between the tables and some of the wait staff had their masks pulled down. I have been coming to this establishment since it opened, and every time I come it gets a little worse. I am updating my review since I just went again tonight. Honestly this decrease in stars has been a long time coming. The ONLY reason why I am giving 2 stars is because of the Thursday karaoke nights. Cordele needs a karaoke night. I could honestly write a novel of all of my complaints about this place, but I'll try to be more concise. The food is never really great or consistent in taste, appearance, or quality. Tonight I ordered nachos and I felt like I had ordered them from a concession stand at a baseball game. I've had many other entrees here in the past and have never impressed. And I am pretty easily impressed. Just read my other reviews The service is pretty much always bad to terrible. I recall one time accidentally starting a fight between two servers because we slid two tables from each of their sections together, and then they were snippy with us about it throughout our meal. But I mean, we were told to seat ourselves and we had a big group. What do you expect. How would we know the different sections. We are also never given menus when we sit down at the table. Today takes the cake. I would say, well at least we could just come for drinks and listen to the band. But I can't say that because they currently don't have draft beers available, and apparently the machine has been down for a while now. I mean this is 4th of July weekend, and I already feel bad for the servers who are going to have to consistently catch heck for that this weekend. Also, they don't have the ingredients to make a Moscow mule. I thought this was a full bar, but apparently not. Overall, as a patron who has been here since the beginning, I have to say I am very disappointed in what this place has become. 1 star is generous. I dont know what happened to this place but it has gone down hill quickly. We came in and took a seat and waited and waited. Finally a waitress comes over and ask our drink order and we waited and waited. Another young lady brought our drinks and disappeared and we waited. We were here for Labor Day weekend. I am a vegetarian so sometimes it's hard to find things on a menu I can eat. I ended up with a Cesar salad. However, before dinner I had an amazing martini!!! They have a list of their own concoctions, and I love trying new drinks (as long as they don't contain tequila)! Both DMD and SBM were happy with their food selection. The food took 2 hours to get to our table and our server was clearly inexperienced. During our entire 3 hour endeavor our table was checked on 4 times, 2 of which were to bring us our food and appetizers. We were told there would be a live band, but the only music that was playing was from a crappy speaker that no one could hear. It was my wife's birthday today so I figured we could go see a band and enjoy a nice dinner on the water, but we were disappointed and ready to leave almost as soon as we sat down. The beverages were disgusting and borderline undrinkable & when our food finally came out it was cold and less than mediocre. Wow, visited for the first time in 2 years after seeing the new menu posted. The three of us were very impressed. Food offerings were awesome and the ones we selected did not disappoint. Tried the Pretzilla and it was great. Same for the The Smokehouse flatbread pizza, the My Achy Steaky Heart and Something to TACO 'Bout. Kudos to the chef, the wait staff and especially the management. Please, if you have been disappointed in the past with this venue or are put off by the negative reviews posted, try it again. We were camping at the adjacent campground and decided to give the Cypress Grill a shot on an unseasonably cold and windy night. We were attracted by the promise of live entertainment. Because we had read reviews that the food is not that great. A bouncer at the door said there was a $7 per person cover charge. I wanted to bounce away myself, but we forged on. Found a very small table immediately, which was nice. But this place is big enough to have tables large enough for two meals, two beverages, an appetizer and condiments. We had to keep shifting stuff around. Our server was a very cute, attentive young woman. She quickly brought our appetizer and a couple of beers. She asked if we wanted water. I did, but the table was so tight. We both went with the cod sandwich. He ordered fries. I ordered onion rings. The presentation was really good. Glossy brioche buns, fresh lettuce and tomatoes, and a crispy large chunk of cod. Tartar sauce on the side. The sandwich was really high. I took about three bites, but gave up. It, sadly, was flavorless. He agreed. His fries were over salted (something he never says). If my onion rings were NOT frozen, I'd lose that bet. They looked and tasted like the ones at Burger King. Again, the service was excellent, and the food was delivered so quickly I was amazed. We settled up and headed out to see the entertainment--two young men doing a good job of playing covers. HOWEVER, it was so blooming cold that we were only able to stick around for 3 songs. $14 for three songs.... Yeah, maybe we should have prepared better and packed warmer clothes, but I think management should have done better, too, by either waiving, or at least reducing the cover charge. There was a good crowd; I don't think it'd been a bad financial hit. Or they could have had portable heaters available. It's sad because the Cypress is a beautiful waterfront setting. We might have overlooked the meh! food the setting and entertainment. But we probably won't if we come back to camp again, and we do plan to do that. read more

This is located within Veterans Memorial State Park on lake blackshear. I have been here twice and have very good experiences on both occasions. Both times we came before they were really busy and the service was very good. They have a good selection of draft and bottled beer and some local brews. The fried ravioli is good. The wings are also very good - the blackberry barbecue is a nice change from the regular assortment of wing sauces. The burger is very good - it is a custom blend of meat and was very good both times. The garlic Parmesan fries were also pretty good. All around a good dining experience. read more

After a horrible ending to our vacation, we checked into the only place we could find (the resort by the restaurant), and decided to go grab some food for our very hungry kids, since we looked at the website beforehand and noticed it said they were open until 2 a.m.. We get there, soaking wet, only to be told they stop serving food at 10. Had high hopes, but I was let down. Burger was raw, fries were soggy and the only thing that was half way decent was the ice water. But, even my straw had holes in it and the glasses were dirty. Mediocre at best. The food is the worst part about the place. The only reason I'm giving it three stars is because it is a bar with a stage and live music, located on a rural ga lake. It's attached to the marina, so it is fun to leave the boat and walk inside. Your best bet is getting the spinach salad. It's kinda hard to screw that one up. The liquor selection is substandard in my opinion. I mean who doesn't carry at least a few top shelf liquors? I know it is in a rural area, but this place has enough business to pay for some better liquor choices. It's mostly outside dining only with the exception of a few small tables inside along with the bar. If you don't like to be hot or deal with bugs, this is not your place. The bathrooms are nice and typically clean. Overall, if there was another restaurant that offered any sort of competition in this area, I'd be there. But until that day happens, I'll probably be back out of desperation to do something on Lake Blackshear. read more

The service was slow, I never got a refill in over an hour, and the nachos were greasy and the Caesar Salad was not dressed and was just chopped romaine, parm cheese and croutons with dressing on the side. Absolutely horrible. i waited for over ten min for a bartender to even acknowledge me which the bar wasn't even full. he asks me to see me and all my friends ids when it's a 21 and over place and I have an arm band on and waited in line to get in bc they check ids at the door. Never asked anyone else. He was just being completely rude. I get a double shit of jack and a coke on the side and I get my bill and its 16 dollars which was ridiculous but I was ok with it since I knew it was going to be pricey. I take my shot it's so watered down that I had a persln try it to make sure. And I don't think I would have even had a problem if I didn't just pay 16 dollars for two shots of jack Daniels that taste like water with a splash of whiskey. I get up to the bar and I tell him and he tells me I'm drinking jack and that he knows he doesn't taste like water. Not only that but Budweiser was sponsoring and they were giving out tickets and giving out extra to the regulars but didn't wanna barely give our group any. All around horrible place. read more
