I am back from my very first appointment with Susanna at TCR. Susanna is warm, personable, kind. She listened carefully to me, and understood exactly what I wanted. Her coloring abilities are superior, and the haircut is exactly what I wanted - a beautiful, blunt long bob! I am already scheduled for a brunette balayage in October, and I have to say, I cannot wait! Thanks, Susanna! Grazie mille!! read more

Heidi was amazing. Since I was a first time customer, she asked so many questions to make sure she understood exactly what I wanted. She was meticulous in everything from the cut to the color and highlights. In the end she recommended a style I had never tried before and it turns out I never want to go back to my old style. I highly recommend Heidi and will request her exclusively from now on. read more

After moving from the Bay Area. I was in need of finding a new hair stylist here in Tracy. Let me start by saying, I'm so fortunate to have found Yolanda! Yolanda has been my hair stylist for over 20 years now! Coming from a background in cosmetology I'm extremely picky. It was important to me that I found someone with experience, and who was knowledgeable in the hair industry. Yolanda quickly put my mind at ease. She is very professional, talented, and loves what she does, and it shows in her work! I highly recommend Yolanda to anyone needing a hairstylist. Her salon the Cutting Room environment is very welcoming, and all the stylists there are professional and friendly. I always look forward to every appointment. Especially my hi-lites! Which always comes out natural looking and beautiful! My hair is long and healthy thanks to Yolanda. Thank you again Yolanda for all you do! Olga D read more

When I decided to go short and even shorter, Susanna truly got me. Been wanting to go short since this pandemic started coz who needed extra step in getting up from bed to lay down on the couch. I didn't wanna mess with fixing my hair when time gets too valuable. I went to Susanna and she listened together with some pictures on how I would love to get it cut. She made it so chic and fits the big face that I already have. Skip to almost 3 weeks after and my hair grows fast. I wanted to go shorter than the one I had previously had and pixie was the way to go. Susanna once again came to the rescue. She recommended that I go a bit longer than I wanted to be, but my mind was set and she didn't push on instead listened and made it happen. I got so many rave about my hair and it boost my confidence up a notch. I am not picky on where to get my hair done, but she just delivered and made the experience very comfortable throughout the whole process. It also helped that we actually ended up twinning with our hairstyles and that says a lot about your hairdresser. She knew what she was doing. The place is also clean and bight and followed all the sanitary precautions to keep their client and themselves safe. Everyone wore their masks the way it should be. read more

If you are looking for an amazing hair stylist you are looking in the right place ! As soon as you walk in you are greeted with a warm smile and a hello! Jessica was truly wonderful after my son's appointment was canceled at another salon I called around and found her ! she got him in last minute as school starts next week for Tracy high . she walked him threw about curly hair how to treat it and products. As she took his time with him for to know and shared some laughs I can say we finally found our gal that style his curly hair. Thank you so much honestly saves the day we cannot wait to come back thank you Jessica read more

Update: Susanna is not good with clippers. She nicked my ear (and said nothing). Never going back. Honestly I hesitated for SO LONG to share this, but it caused me such anxiety going to get my hair cut anywhere after this, and I wouldn't wish that on anyone. I'm sure if you go in for a longer cut that isn't tight around the ear you'd be fine. Also she has preconceived notions about what is "feminine" and assumed that's what I would want. So, definitely not a good fit. read more

I've been getting my hair cut by Yolonda for over 20 years. She is awesome at what she does and makes you feel very special and comfortable. I've never had a complaint with her work. The salon is kept up very well. Everyone I've encountered there, has been very nice and accommodating. read more

Gail Lawrence I needed a hair cut and weave so I went in to the Cutting Room. I had not been for a long time because being in the hospital most of December. Sueannnd did an awesome job. With the death of my daughter in July I have been very depressed and when a family member told me that I didn't look like Gail. I figured out I needed to do something. I realized that there is really great people if I just let them in. I love my friends but there going to love me anyway just like me. They would never judge me. This was a total stranger. She probably thought I was nuts.back to my hair she did a wonderful job and I appreciate it. read more

Ive been long overdue for a haircut as Ive been putting it off not only due to COVID but because Ive been trying to get this exact style (probably about 4-5 times) and every other place Ive gone to always gives me something different. Last Friday, I decided to bite the bullet and try again. Saw this place was highly rated and called for an appointment (due to COVID they are doing by appointment only like most places). Luckily, they had an opening for that afternoon. When I got there, there was a short wait. Which I didnt mind because I felt safe seeing that they were following protocols to space people out, sanitize between clients, and have people wait outside so there were a limited amount of people inside at a time. Now onto the haircut! Suzanna did my hair. I showed her the picture and we really discussed what I wanted and what would work with my hair to achieve the look I wanted. From that point, I knew I was in good hands! AND LO AND BEHOLD, I FINALLY GOT THE HAIRCUT I WANTED! Will definitely be going here for haircuts in the future too. They have a great space downtown too which I never noticed before. I highly recommend checking them out if you havent already. read more

I pray Susanna never stops working!!! I asked for a specific cut and, not only did Susanna deliver my request, she made me look goood!! My family and friends rave over my new cut and color. I can't imagine trusting anyone else with these locks. I was even hesitant to go to a beautician because I had a not-so-great experience when I was young. I always thought I could just do this myself. Susanna came highly recommended, and now I understand why! I just needed to find someone I could trust. She is kind, patient, engaged in the process, and professional. She gets my highest rating and referral!! Check her out for yourself. You will be so happy you did!! read more

Book with Elise! Elise has been doing my hair for a while now. I followed her from another salon and drive about an hour just to see her. She's that great! Not only is she personable, she's also very knowledgeable about color services. She is transparent about every step she takes, always asks for your input along the way, and is very clear about her pricing. She includes a K18 treatment in her pricing as well. She has great product recommendations but is never pushy about them. She will recommend products within your budget if you ask. She helped me restore my scalp health after she noticed I was using too much dry shampoo. Getting my hair done feels like a spa treatment every time and I feel like a new woman walking out those doors. She's also a great listener! Every girl's hair stylist dream come true. read more

Susanna did a great job on my hair. I got layers done while preserving most of the length of my hair. I went in unsure of what type of layered cut I wanted, but she explained the entire process and described how the cut would work best for me. I used to have one uniform length and it was getting difficult to style or manage it. Now my hair is so much more manageable and looks healthier. I was extremely nervous as I have never cut my hair before at a salon or even tried a different style. She is very professional, knowledgeable, and kind. read more

I have been a client of Yolanda's since she first got out of beauty school and she was doing my spiral perms, some 20 years ago! She's been around for many important occasions in my life and did my hair for senior prom, and will be doing my hair for my upcoming wedding next year too. One of her goals was to always have her own salon, a goal that's finally come true! I had a chance to take a peek at her new spot and its the nicest salon I've been too, with a great color scheme of white and tiffany blue (like the box)! The best thing about this place is the owner herself. In case you didn't know, the majority of her clients (myself included) do the drive just to get their hair did in the 209 from all over Northern California. It's not just because I consider her to be like family, but because she always does an awesome job on my hair. I always receive compliments on my hair and have people constantly asking me where I get it done. Yolanda, you truly deserve this, Congrats on your very own salon!!! So now that you are in the know, go check her new spot out and say hi! read more

This review is specifically for Susanna Brown. Covid had me cutting my own hair, a snip here, a chop there. Needless to say, my hair was a hot mess! I saw another review how Susanna was able to give the customer the exact cut and style she'd been trying to get from many stylist. EXACTLY MY ISSUE!!! I sent Susanna a few pics of the style I wanted and she delivered BIG TIME. The salon was clean and covid compliant. Good experience, great cut. Thanks Susanna read more

I haven't gotten my hair cut in a salon for many years, so honestly I was very nervous before the appointment. I have long, thick hair that goes to my lower back and I asked for long layers and face framing layers. Susanna was my stylist and she did such a phenomenal job, both in making me comfortable and cutting my hair. I wanted to keep my hair length intact, and she kept my hair long while giving it some much needed shape and movement. Susanna is such a lovely person and made me feel extremely at ease. The appointment consisted of a shampoo, hair cut, and styling (blow dry and curls). In total, the haircut came out to $95 which given how long it took (nearly 2 hours) and how much hair I have I think is reasonable. To be fair though I haven't gone to enough salons to compare pricing but I am extremely satisfied and will be back! read more

Best Salon I've ever been to. Yolanda cuts my hair and my two daughters and does an amazing job. So yesterday my son had to get a cut for his senior football pictures. He has NEVER had a haircut he has liked. He's gone to barbers, every sports clips great clips you name it he's hated it every time. So I called Yolanda and begged her to squeeze him in last minute and she just couldn't so she recommended Nicole. Nicole was amazing, she explained mullets to him and how they are supposed to look. His last barber was clearly not trained in mullets. It was hands down the best haircut he has ever had. He was so proud of his haircut. It was so exciting to FINALLY see him happy and excited about his new cut. I have never seen him smile so much. Since school started back up after Covid he has worn a hat to school every day, today was the very first day he didn't wear a hat to school. Thank you Nicole for giving him confidence again. He looks amazing. I'm excited for him to take his senior portraits now. read more

I followed Lizzy Nadeau from a different salon to this location and would follow her anywhere. Not only is the salon clean, COVID safe, and friendly...Lizzy is a dream come true. She's absolutely amazing at all things hair, but if you're looking for beautiful balayage she's your girl. Lizzy always gives me exactly what I NEED from a haircut. I prefer a low maintenance style but love a lot of dimension and Lizzy has always nailed it. Look her up on IG for amazing photos of her work! It's comforting to have a stylist that really knows her craft. If you tell her what you're looking for, she will absolutely make it happen. Her attention to detail and overall talent is incredible and I cannot recommend her enough. read more

As an older woman with thinning hair, it has been a challenge finding a stylist I can trust to cut my hair in a way that will give me some much needed volume. After reading the great Yelp reviews for Susanna at The Cutting Room, I decided to take a leap and give her a try. I text her a photo of a style, thinking there was no way she could make my hair look even close. I was wrong. I love my new haircut. Susanna knows how to cut hair...all kinds of hair. If she can make my hair look this good, I can imagine what she can do with a thick head of hair. If you are looking for someone who can look at a photo, and actually make it happen for you...give Susanna a try. I highly recommend her. read more

I came in today, 2/12/15, and I had an appointment with Alicia. I havent had my hair done in YEARS. I didnt know what i wanted and i was very overwhelmed. She made me feel comfortable and she gave me alot of suggestions. My hair is very frizzy and long down to my bottom. I didnt want to lose my length but i was in need of a super trim. Long story short i went with a trim, bangs, and an ombre style. Alicia did a wonderful job. She did what i asked and didnt push me to do things i didnt want. I will definitely return to see her very soon! The place is clean and relaxing on the inside. The other staff were very nice and courteous. The only thing it needs is a hanging sign outside on the awnings. Maybe i missed it....either way its very easy to find. read more

Yolanda has changed my life. No joke... I have never had extensions and was worried i would be bothered having them in and how they would look and especially the cost if that was the case. My hair is AMAZING. This is no exaggeration either. I am stopped DAILY and told how incredible and how beautiful my hair looks. NO ONE can tell they are extension. I feel and look younger, I have the hair i have always dreamed of. If I knew it would be life changing i would have done this years ago. Yolanda is the best stylist i have ever had. Natalie is awesome. So far I have gone to her for a full balayage and my 13 yr old a hair cut. She is super knowledgeable. I learned a few things by the end of both visits with her. She really does know her stuff. I have no idea how I found her, but I some how started following her Instagram. After seeing so many photos of her work I thought I'd take a chance and it was absolutely worth it. I will definitely continue coming back to her. I totally trust her with my mane. I also wanted to comment in regards to a reviewer about the salon not giving her a pixie cut she was inquiring about. I've been ocassionally getting pixie cuts for about 10 years. You can not go to just anyone for a pixie cut. Also, there is not much going back from a bad pixie cut because your hair is so short. I would prefer a stylist to be upfront and honest because I've had one in the past that did such a terrible job it was like she had never done one before. It was embarrassing. That reviewer should be thankful not offended. read more

I have been wanting to get a haircut and thankfully Susana took me in on such short notice. I told her I wanted a U-cut shape with jawline curtain bangs and layers in the back. My hair had a blunt cut and it was just so long and boring but I also didn't want to go too short and Susana literally explained every step we need to do to get the cut I want. She's so sweet and easy to get along with. I felt so comfortable and happy leaving their salon. Thank you again Susana!! Definitely coming back when it gets warmer to go a bit more shorter (: read more
