Classic Cupcake Co, located in Mosman is a beautiful cupcakery selling cupcakes, coffee, ice cream…read moreand baking products. In addition, they also host cupcake decorating classes. If you're there just to buy a cupcake, you'll see they sell a wide range of flavours that rotate so you'll find that you can try different flavours each time you visit. Anzac, apple crumble, banana bread latte, banoffee pie, carrot, choc vanilla, chocolate, cookies and cream, maple, red velvet, rocky road and strawberry to name a few. Using locally sourced free range eggs, organic vanilla, pure butter and Callebaut chocolate, these cakes look pictures perfect are delicious to boot. The cupcake classes are are a brilliant idea for something fun to do or as a unique gift for a friend or family member. I tried out the 2 hour Buttercream succulent class where I learnt how to pipe two-tone buttercream flowers using whipped buttercream to make the cupcakes look just like the succulent plants! It's a good little class with an intimate setting of 10 people (over 16 years of age), it gives the host time to work around the group. Absolutely suitable for beginners, because I certainly was a beginner, as were most people in my class. It gives you tips how to work with buttercream, piping techniques and learning the basics which you can then buy some products if you so please and hone in your skills at home. I found this class to be a great introduction to decorating your cupcakes using a variety of piping techniques. When joining this class, the cost includes the host / teacher for the class, teaching you how to pipe different types of flower buds for 6 different cupcakes. The host, Joyce was fun, informative and took the class through the lessons at a good pace. You learn how to prepare and fill piping bags with butter cream, how to pipe different leaves and delicate petals, how to work with different colours and two tone piping to create beautiful arrangements on the top of preprepared vanilla cupcakes. At the end of the class, you also receive a certificate and the recipes to take up to replicate. Your cupcakes are packed into a box to take home to show off your masterpieces. The store hosts Buttercream flower cupcake classes, cake pops, cupcake baking and decorating masterclass, kids parties and team building. Book online for your preferred class and you'll receive 10% discount on all items purchased in the shop on the day of class. Even better, you can use your "dine and discover" voucher for the class at $25 off! Book now, for a fun activity, either for yourself or as a gift.

The first thing you notice entering My Little Cupcake is the sugary smell. The second thing is the beautiful gifts. It's not just a cake store but also a specialty cup cake accessory store and baby gift shop. Prices are not outlandish but expect to pay for quality. I couldn't help myself and walked out with some stripy circus cup cake holders, a floral apron and gorgeous material bunting flags - all for under $50. The website doesn't do the cake decoration skills of the baker justice. They look much more scrumptious in real life as do the lamingtons - best looking lamingtons ever ($4). For traditional size cupcakes you pay $4 each, for min size you pay $54 per 2 dozen. They do make gluten free cupcakes but you need to order more than six. 10% discount for orders over 100 pieces. If you fancy making your own professional looking cupcakes My Little Cupcake sell party packs with all the edible decoration bits and pieces for $45. Yum and fun!!

Bottom Line: Beautiful cupcakes. Yummy for the most part (especially the Salted Caramel), though…read morethere are a few that I wouldn't revisit. Cupcake shops were quite the craze in the states and in both San Francisco and New York they were a dime a dozen. This is not so in Sydney. There are loads of bakeries, but not too many shops that are purely dedicated to the wonderment that is the cupcake. Luckily, we happen to have one of them just around the corner from us! It's always a wonderful surprise when I get home to find the little Black Bag from Sparkle awaiting me (either as a treat after a bad day or a mini celebration). Favorite Flavors: Salted Caramel Banana Toffee Pure Sparkle Bonus! - my boyfriend got me a cupcake making class here for my birthday. Such a fun morning. It was just us and another couple upstairs in the Sparkle kitchen. We learned how to make macarons, panna cotta, and of course - cupcakes. After you've cooked, you get to enjoy your treats with a glass of champagne and some cucumber sandwiches downstairs in the cafe. Lovely day!

Their cupcakes range from lavender to jaffa, vanilla bean to frangipani, and their team of cupcakers explore the wide spectrum of flavours in between (whilst staying moderately conservative - no chicken satay flavours here, unlike at other experimental patisseries). Champagne cupcake breakfasts are on offer, as are a Sparkle spin on a High Tea. They also run a popular party for special occasions (hens parties, baby showers, birthday parties etc.) which includes a cupcake cooking class in their on site kitchen. I don't think the cupcakes themselves were actually that fantastic. Not bad in any way, but not worthy of raving. Or, in fact, returning for. But that's not really the point here. Sparkle have filled a great niche market. So the next time you want to get dressed up and act as though that silver spoon was born in your mouth, don your best heels and gloves and head to Sparkle. Alternatively, satisfy your inner six year old - invite your favourite teddy bears, wear your Mum's high heels and pearls and sit around the table discussing playpen politics. Whatever your plan, any time's a good time to dress up, drink champagne and eat cupcakes.
