After a friend of mine suggested Bourke Street Bakery in Parramatta to try out their infamous Creme Brulee, I was eager to have a taste. Unfortunately for me, they had sold out of Creme Brulees (I arrived their at 3pm so i guess they must be pretty popular) However, FORTUNATELY for me, since I was already lured into the bakery and gawking at the delicious tarts, I had the urge to purchase two of the tarts (~$10 together) which I do not regret depositing most of my daily calories into. The furnishing of the interior and exterior of the store is quite retro and the feels of raw-ness, but its just the perfect balance. Bookmarked the Surry Hill's area for quite awhile now and was amazed to find one in Parramatta area. Walkable distance to the bus interchange and the Parramatta station. I probably passed by this store a few weeks ago but didn't pay attention at the name. Decided to drop by on a Saturday morning (around 10am) before heading to another activity. There were 5-6 people ahead of me and the queue dies down pretty fast as I managed to order both Pork and Fennel Sausage Roll and Croissant within 5 minutes for takeaway. Price wise it was decent. Managed to get both items for less than $10. Score!! Tried the butter croissant first. It was flaky and not too salty. You can taste the freshness of the croissant as if it just came out from the oven. Definitely one of the best croissants I've ever tasted thus far. Pork and Fennel Sausage Roll was the hit keyword under the Surry Hill's business listing so decided to try that out. The outer layer was flaky and the meat was juicy. I kept chomping for more till the brown bag was empty. The chicken, pumpkin and tarragon was pretty good too. Tried the lamb sausage roll too on my third visit but still prefer the pork and fennel sausage roll among the different rolls. Tried the pizza as well. Good portion for great price. Love the pizza base (crispy and chewy) and the spin around the ingredients. Pear and vanilla iced tea is a refreshing and fruity drink. Good option for non-coffee drinkers like me. Old school lemonade wasn't my cup of tea - a little too sour. The white chocolate, passion fruit and meringue tart was pretty unique combination too. But the tart base was a little tough to bite. Love the sweet and sour combination of the tart :) Overall, love this bakery - unique taste of the baked goods and the freshness of the ingredients as well as reasonable pricing. First time to visit to the parramatta store and the franchise in general. For the life of me I couldn't get out to their other stores. Good thing they opened up near my Uni. The store is located in Church St right near the train station. So within walking distaNce to Westfields. You order and pay at the counter, they take your name and call out when it is ready. I got a cappachino and a Walnut and carrot cake. Coffee is good and the cake was a good companion. Sponge like texture with a cream filling and not an overload of walnuts. If you came for lunch some of the options include: pies, sausage rolls, quiches, pizza, toasties,' sandwiches and a soup of the day. Good visit! read more

I've always been a fan of the Surry Hills bakery so when this one opened in Parramatta I was super excited! You can't really go wrong for baked goods and coffee at Bourke Street Bakery. I can't think of a single thing I wouldn't eat here. My personal favourite foods include the Pork and Fennel Sausage Rolls, the Pulled Pork Sandwich, Fresh Lemonade, Chocolate Mousse and Raspberry Tart and the Dark Chocolate and Cherry Cookie. If you are staying or working in Parramatta, this is a great little coffee shop to grab a cuppa, a pastry or a toasty. English breakfast tea just the way I like it- strong with skim. Walnut carrot cake slice is moist and not overly sweet- with the cream cheese as a going between layers rather than coating the exterior. Almond praline croissant had plentiful almonds, but less almond flavor than most. Feta and spinach quiche was freshly made with a delightful flaky crust and served at the perfect temperature. All in all, a quick stop for takeaway and a nice spot to enjoy inside or outside next to the fountain. read more

Have to say I'm pretty underwhelmed with this place. I am disgusted any time I go into a cafe to order tea and they bring out a pot with a teabag hanging out the side. Not even a pyramid teabag; just a cheap crushed tea leaves teabag. Especially if they're charging $4 for it and it takes ten minutes to "make". We also ordered a tomato and cheese croissant plus a quiche. The quiche was quite nice but the croissant was burnt and dry. Doubt I'll be back. read more

I must say I'm a true regular, bacon quiche and coffee most mornings, or lamb sausage roll, or spinach quiche! I'm not a fan of pastries so they never do it for me but try a lamb and Harissa sausage roll when you are there, it will not disappoint. And do not get sauce With it, you will Ruin it! read more

Groovy place. Clean neat. No toilet inside. Ordered the veg sandwich which the guy pulled out out of the fridge in a plastic bag and chucked it on the counter so it actually bounced. If you're charging $9 for a sandwich I'd expected it to be made up fresh. And if you're going to bag them for speed, I would hide it from the customer and not bounce it on the counter in front if them. Felt more like cattle more than a treasured customer. Sandwich was good but would swap Maccas cake style bread for something solid. read more

When I lived in the inner west it was my weekend ritual to eat at Bourke Street bakery. The coffee is always good and so are the juices and chocolate milks. The food is simple and tasty. Try the roast pork pickled red cabbage, cheese on sourdough... So freaking tasty!!!So many varieties to try! There's been a significant change in Parramatta's food scene lately and the latest addition is Bourke Street Bakery. To have another iconic franchise open so locally is very exciting.  Bourke street bakery sits in Centenary Square in Parramatta so it's easily accessible whether you're coming from Church Street or the Westfield.  The first thing that caught my eye was the window proudly boasting freshly baked and oh so appetising goods. There's something truly genuine about the products that they sell, each with their own imperfections sitting gloriously in the window. I also noticed the indoor and outdoor seating and overall spacious interior of the bakery made for a comfortable experience whether you were queueing for takeaway or dine in.  The fridge is full of hand made cold drinks, no commercial drinks in sight! It's the little details that really separates this bakery the rest. They have a huge range of both sweet and savory options to whet your appetite.
