Awesome place I would highly recommend it. Food is very authentic! Don't miss out on the cafecito

Delicious and friendly! We grab a sandwich to share and go to the brew hub and eat outside with our dig. The best of both worlds! A gem in Waynesville! read more

Very friendly people and the food and coffee is excellent. Everything is fresh Only 1 block from Main Street , downtown waynesville.

I've been coming here since 2020. I have to stop everytime I come. Everything is amazing. Try the croquettasz

The Cuban Guy is an excellent restaurant. We went there for lunch today. We ordered a Cuban, a Midnight, and a Coquette sandwich. Each sandwich came with a bag of chips. The three of us really enjoyed the food. The serving size was huge. The restaurant itself is tucked away in a small plaza well away from the tourist area. Inside it was clean and well maintained. Spanish music was playing at an enjoyable volume level. The service was friendly and reasonably quick. Everything was really tasty. We also had a Cafe Con Leche (very good). The meal came to $44 (including tip). That may sound expensive for a few sandwiches. However, we each could only eat half of our food, and we were all FULL. So take that $44 and divide it by three, and then again by two (as each of us got two meals out of our serving) and it comes to $7 per person. I would gladly eat at The Cuban Guy again. read more

Good hot and tasty, had the Cuban Sandwich and it was delicious. I'd recommend trying out this locale when you're in the area.

Great food! Authentic Cuban down to real sugar in your cafe con leche. Owner is lovely. Enjoy!

I am glad we found this place! We are always looking for a new place to try, especially if it has outdoor seating. We ordered the Cuban, the Midnight and a sampler platter. The sandwiches were great, exactly as expected. They weren't lacking anything. The sampler was the Ace. We thoroughly enjoyed sharing these items and saved the second part of our sandwiches for later. The beef empanada was my favorite. Soooo much flavor and flaky pastry! The ham croquettes were awesome, I did not expect to enjoy them so much. I also liked the chicken empanada, tostones and sweet plantains. We washed it down with an iron beer! 10/10 will return. read more

Without a doubt, I have to say this reminds me back in Florida, reminds me of any spot that I go to, but some spots in Florida are not as good, but this spot here in Waynesville is banging good, I have to say the service is wonderful. The food is outstanding. The ambient is completely wonderful because it reminds me of a Cuban sandwich shop, I have to say drinking my Culotta was on spot that the fact they didn't put sugar in the coffee that doesn't make it truly authentic Cuban coffee, but you put it as you want to, but I say it has to be the sugar in the espresso that makes Cuban coffee. I like the ambience, it reminds me of when I was in Florida, like a traditional premium place. I learned that there's a second location in Tampa Florida, which is pretty cool. So there's a family a Puerto Rican that own the Cuban guys, but they have everything to the original. I recommend anybody he's looking for a quick place to get food or you know a good taste of difference in their palette, I would come here. read more

The Cuban Guy - My Cuban midnight sandwich at the Cuban guys - Cuban Near Me - Waynesville, North Carolina

Cuban Guy is one of my must go to places in Waynesville! When I'm in Wqynesville, I usually stay for about a week and I go to Cuban Guy two times during my stay. Here are the reasons I keep going back... The service is spectacular! I always get it to go and the people on the phone are just a delight. Some of the best customer service for to go orders I have ever gotten. Mojo pork bowl and picadillo bowl are DELICIOUS! Meat and rice and other ingredients that make it that special dish that I hope they have when I go because they are specials and they do not have them every day. Each bowl comes with plantains but if you get a sandwich, I would really recommend a side of plantains. They are the perfect savory and sweet bite for a side to any meal here. My Mom loves those tamales! All of the sandwiches! Elana Ruz and the Midnight are two of my favorites. You will only get these at the for real deal cuban sandwich shops. Pastelitos filled with guava and cream cheese are the perfect end to any meal. I look forward to being back really soon! read more

Why would you go to Hemingways when this is an option? And yes, I am saying travel the 45 min from AVL to this amazing spot. Walk the Main Street and have some cuban food that is on par with Miami- esp since the original owner, Angel, is from Miami. He has retired recently due to health concerns so a lovely Puerto Rican/Southern couple has taken over. What I appreciate is not paying $10 for 2 small empanadas, unlike another location. Now to take my friends who have never had good Cuban food. Great spot for an introduction. read more

We visited The Cuban Guy restaurant for the first time today for lunch. Our friends love it, and after today, I see why they recommended it. My wife had the Cuban Sandwich and I had the Mojo Pork with vegetables and rice. Absolutely delicious!!! The sandwich was a fusion of flavors - ham, cheese, pork, and mustard - and was perfectly balanced on the crispy roll. The Mojo Pork was tender and seasoned just right. The Cuban Guy is a perfect alternative to the standard burger and fries lunch and is very reasonably priced. We will certainly be back! read more

I ordered the sampler, this place has the best empanadas and plantains I've ever tasted! The woman that took our order was so sweet and explained what each item was. The food was delicious and the portions were generous. If you're getting your food to go, that may be the best option. We ate under the tent in the parking lot on a little table and chairs -- not very sturdy, but we still enjoyed it. We had a cuban and a picadillo bowl. We also tried the guava pastries. OMG. So delicious! I recommend this place not just so that you can try food that you may not have tasted but because the food is delicious and generous! This is a great local option! read more

I love Cuban food, and had high hopes and great expectations for a local 'real! cuban restaurant. We ordered a platter that had empanadas, plaintains, etc etc - and nothing stood out. It was OK. That's it. Small place, better for carry- out than eat-in. Friendly service was a plus, but at just Ok, probably won't return. Too bad. For great (or even really good) food - I'd eat here every week! Oh well, back to Publix for the pressed Cuban sub! read more

I don't normally think "Cuban" when I'm in the mountains, but I'm a big fan from my days in Tampa/Ybor City. I had the Cuban sandwich and fried plantains. The sandwich was quite good, but the highlight was the plantains, which were perfectly prepared. The employees were prompt, but didn't smile. Outdoor seating was makeshift, but much appreciated. I'll be back to try more from their menu. Update: I had the pork bowl today. The pulled pork was great, the black beans could have used some more flavor (oil & vinegar is my standard) and maybe some diced tomatoes would have been nice. Plantains we're awesome again. read more

Nice spot in Waynesville if you'd like some good Cuban cuisine. It's a small restaurant, but there's seating inside and out for a few groups. The coffee and empanadas were great! So were their pastries! The Cuban sandwich, plantains, and the pulled pork were good. I'd skip the tamale if I were to return, but it wasn't bad. I was pleasantly surprised by the quality and value. read more

I have been eating at the CubanGuy since the grand opening. I have never been disappointed, and you will not. The main dish rotate on a daily basis, and yes you should try to taste all of them. Take the challenge. But, if you are in the feeling for a traditional bite the Cuban Sandwich is your best choice and is always available. All the food is excellent and the service is unbeatable. Is like eating in your abuelas house! Ohhh and Don't forget to leave some space for coffee and dessert, the pastries required you to "lick your fingers"! read more

Not really Cuban.... Horrible espresso. Not even from a machine. They have more Puerto Rican food than Cuban.
