A good change of pace.... I found this place by accident, but it turned out well. The building is not much to look at, but don't let that dissuade you. The staff is really kind and helpful. The restaurants decor is interesting yet unique (very Cuban if that is a thing). The food was delicious - we had the chicken with rice and beans and tried the empanadas. This place is unique and worth a visit.

Nice to have something different & Aroma Cafe offers it from their Cuban sandwiches & fried plantains to their empanadas & papas. The Pulled Pork sandwich was also very good. Sandwiches come in small or large size to match your appetite. My eye is on the Ropa Vieja with Rice & Beans for my next visit. The seating area inside is a little dark so recommend eating outside if it's a nice day. The plantains & papa is a more acquired taste.

Another fantastic meal at Aroma. The Cuban sandwich never misses but the red beans and rice are underrated! I could make a meal out of them!

Another great visit to Aroma Cafe. For the first time I order something other than the Cuban sandwich with red beans and rice. This time I ordered one of their platters - pulled pork with red beans rice. My wife her usual Cuban sandwich with black beans and rice. All were excellent. My plan is to now work my way through the rest of the menu. Love this place.

Great cuban food! Fyi, they do not have ice cream or fro yo any more!! We got the large Cuban sandwich and the sampler platter. It was enough food for lunch and dinner! Cuban sandwich was good, and I'd get it again. Just note that mustard was kinda light and I think it had mayo. The maduros and plantains were great! We also loved the guava empanada! Good food with large portions!!

Came in for lunch and was surprised I had to come to Tennessee to have good cuban food. I had the Montana cuban sandwich. Boy was that delicious and tender. Had the side of rice and beans and they were so good too. Had me a pineapple soda. Thanks to my co worker for introducing me here. Also ordered an empanadilla to go and although that didn't make the picture it was delicious too.

Best Cuban sandwich I've had! Highly recommend the black beans as a side. Definitely try to go during the off-hours as parking is a premium.

Authentic Cuban food. It's the real deal. No frills. Food served in Styrofoam containers, eat in or take out.

The lunches we had were very tasty. Prices were similar to those at other places with quality…read moresandwiches and soups-- not cheap, but worth the price in most cases, I think. I had a "pick 2" combo with the chicken bacon ranch sandwich and loaded baked potato soup. Lots of food; I took home half the sandwich. Wife had the chicken broth ramen and thought it was very good, with some negatives mentioned below. On mine, the soup was OK but I thought underseasoned. No condiments on the tables, so I just ate on (so it wasn't that bad, obviously-- but condiments on the table or nearby would be nice). My wife is Japanese, so even when she thought of ordering the ramen, I asked her to please not be too harsh if theirs wasn't like what she'd get in Kyoto! She liked the broth a lot and there was LOTS of chicken with it. Her biggest issue was that the ramen itself was a bit thick and unlike typical ramen. Still, overall a good soup dish even for her high/unreal standards! Only drinks are bottled drinks (no alcohol). We asked for tap water and got served lukewarm tap water in tiny cups (see in picture). So, four stars means we liked it and would go back. Why not 5 stars? In addition to the above small points, I would add that good/great sandwiches are for some reason I great supply In Maryville! Its hard to beat out some of the places already very well-known for very good sandwiches (start with Foothills Milling Bakery, but I can think of 2-3 other places in the area that are very good). Very solid place but needs more amenities or novel items to get five stars.

Decided to try this year for the vegan chef challenge just to see if there might be something I could eat or maybe I'd be wild and ask for the sandwich without the bread. Imagine my SHOCK when I saw gluten free bread on the regular vegan menu and asked if the GF bread was also vegan!! (Spoiler alert: it IS!) This now opens up a world of options, and more reasons to come back regularly. They have an EXTENSIVE vegan menu, and both soups offered the day I was there were vegan. The cashier told us there's a pub downstairs, with different vegan menu items. It's attached to a bookstore and has a homey, comfy feel. It's the kind of place you feel you could hang out in all day and no one would complain. The cashier was BEYOND helpful and friendly and made several recommendations for things to try in the future. The only bad thing is I wasted a year not trying this place. I'll need to make up for that!

While visiting my sister in TN she treated us to dinner here. We had the Blackened Grilled…read moreSandwich with fries and a drink and the 6 piece tenders with two orders of fries. The food was good and the service was nice. The 6 piece meal was enough to feed three adults. There is a sauce station that is pretty cool. You can try any of their sauces. I so wanted to love this place. They had all of the underpinnings for an AWESOME chicken sammich…read morejoint. But it just was not there. I ordered the super parm (chicken parm sammich) with hand cut fries that had rosemary pepper on them. My sammich was good, regarding the cut of chicken and how it was prepared. The tomato sauce was too sweet, to the point that it was overbearing on the rest of the sammich. And the bun was a straight out of the package bun where the pic showed it toasted which would have been a huge improvement - AND - use a bigger bun as the chicken looked like a size 12 trying to fit into a size 8 bathing suit. Finally, they "pepper sprayed" the fries with so much rosemary pepper (should have been rosemary in small print and pepper in large print) that we had to stop elsewhere right after for 2 more bottled waters! I do hope that this place does well but there is much work to do.
