Was craving a sandwich and Yelp led me to Subs & Such. Was not expecting such a large space and very busy around 1 PM. Though there weren't many people in line, the sign showed a 30 minute wait. Prices were really fair and I settled on a 6 inch Reuben on rye. Saw they had a soup and salad option and many people making their salads. The numbers are yelled by the workers, and felt bad for the employee doing so. Maybe a buzzer option might be better for the future? About 30 minutes later I picked up my sandwich. Seems this place is known for steaming their bread, so it was a little mushy, but filled with plenty of corned beef and sauerkraut and it was all very tasty. I'm not sure what has happened over the past year but service and quality has declined. I feel like I've given them a lot of chances before deciding to update my review. They seem understaffed, it takes orders a lot longer to come out that it used to (15-20 mins even if they aren't busy) and the amount if meat they put on the sandwiches is half what it used to be. This was a staple in the area for years and the best sandwiches around, but it's sadly declined. I recommended it to some people a while back and they didn't have a good experience either. read more

An East Tennessee must stop! The menu is so large it's somewhat overwhelming. I never had a bad experience until I came in today for a 6 inch turkey and cheese with mayo and lettuce, I got to the car and there was some liquid from The sandwich leaked all over my car seats and my pants.I still don't know what this liquid that soaked through was. This is counter order and then they give you a number that they call later. We arrived during Saturday lunch hour and only waited about 7-10 minutes. My husband and I just moved to the area so we have been trying local places. I looked up a sub place and I came across this restaurant. All the reviews were great so we decided to check it out! It didn't disappoint. I wasn't sure what to get because of all the options. I ordered the spicy cub on white and it was so good!! My husband got the cheese steak on honey bread and he enjoyed it! We were on our way to Cades Cove for the afternoon on Thursday, March 24. We stopped at Subs and Such to get a couple of sandwiches to eat when we got to the park. We spent $24 for two ORB sandwiches. We didn't order chips or a drink, just two sandwiches. We ordered the sandwiches with honey wheat bread. The bread was STALE! The bread on my sandwich was hard as a rock on one end! They were both close to inedible, but my husband was extremely hungry and reluctantly ate half his sandwich, and finished the second half a while later, but again, he only ate it because he was hungry! I tried to eat some of my sandwich, but it wasn't worth eating because of the bread. I knew immediately, when I unwrapped my sandwich, that the bread was old. Any cook would have known, too! It makes me so mad! We were too far away to go back to the restaurant. I had no phone service in Cades Cove to call the restaurant to complain. We wasted $24 of our hard-earned money! We will not be back, and if you're willing to take the chance of ordering a sandwich-to-go, I suggest you open the sandwich up to verify that the bread is fresh before you leave the restaurant, otherwise you'll be out of luck! Fortunately, I had some fruit leather and butterscotch candy in the glove compartment that held me over until we got home several hours later! read more

I've tried it 3 times since the new ownership and the new ownership has basically done everything that they could to ruin what was a fabulous local business. The owners are not locals infact one of them wants to be called "chief operating officer" which is a freaking joke especially over what was a mom/pop sub shop. Anyways, they have reduced the menu and reduced the toppings/meat serving/cheese serving and all while doing this increased their pricing. I can now actually get a large sub cheaper at firehouse than I can at subs and such and still have more meat and cheese at firehouse. I was told I could only pick three vegetable toppings. All the other sub companies you can have as many as you want. They say they are trying to be competitive with other companies. The reason they were doing such a great business before the new ownership was because they were better than the other companies... now they are worse than the other companies. Don't waste your time or money on this place anymore. The new owners clearly don't respect decades long loyal local customers nor do they respect the original owners that built that company up from the ground. I ordered a cheesesteak and it made me hate the city of Philadelphia. This was the most disgusting sandwich I've ever experienced. Steaming the roll on a hot sub should be grounds for losing your license to operate. The meat was discolored and frightening. Just moved here and visited today for the first time. 1. The restaurant needs a serious cleaning. Those floors haven't seen a broom in a while and I can't imagine how long since they mopped. You have plenty of people standing around doing nothing, teach them how to clean up the damn place. 2. The "cheesesteak" consists of a bucket of pre-chopped and pre-cooked up meat that they pile on bread, put some slices of cheese on it, cover with a little more meat and then throw the entire sandwich in a warmer. Pathetic. 3. There were about a dozen people there when we were. 3 TV's playing, no volume, no music playing, nothing. Total silence. Put a little effort into creating an atmosphere, it's not hard.
