Visited Crush House again. It's been a year since our last visit. This time, we brought friends. We were celebrating my mother-in-law's 75th birthday. We sat outside and there were heaters on the ceilings to take the edge off the cool breeze, which was nice. Our waitress was superb - fast, friendly, patient, attentive, and she had a great memory. We started off with drinks and appetizers and then moved into dinner. For appetizers, we requested cauliflower, a meat and chese tray, and loaded nachos. For dinner, I requested scallops, my mother-in-law, meatball appetizer, my father-in-law, salmon, and my wife, shortrib sliders. My scallops were served with mashed potatoes and asparagus. My meal was perfect. The scallops were tender, cooked perfectly, and tasted wonderful. The esparagus was especially great and the mashed potatoes were good. My meal disappeared quickly and I loved it. I tasted my father-in-law's salmon and it was overcooked and didn't have a great flavor. The shortrib was excellent. Cesar salad from here was great, the location and cleanliness of the restaurant was good too, however service was not good. I only had taken a few bites of my appetizer and the waitress took it away from me and threw it in the trash, without asking. We addressed it, then she let us know we would get a refund and they would make me a new one to go. Then she came back and just charged is for it anyway. When we confronted her, she acted super confused all the sudden. Super rude, then in the midst of it, we let them know we HAD to be out asap, for a prior engagement. She ignored us and we waited for about 15 more minutes, I actually started crying because we were going to miss our appointment and couldn't leave without paying, the manager then came over and was passive and said, I hear there's an issue. I explained what was going on and we were extremely late to something important and she just walked away. Did not offer to make absolutely anything right for us. The Crush House is located at Gervasi Winery. They offer food, cocktails, wine, beer, and more! I had the double barreled cocktail which was made with GS Wine Barrel Bourbon, Muddled Orange and Lemon, Drizzle of Honey, Grand Marnier, finished with Ginger Beer. It cost 12 dollars but was well worth the price! It was absolutely delicious and came out looking real fancy's. I could really taste the booze which was an added bonus. :) The inside was super cute and had a great atmosphere! They have bar seating, tables, a waiting area, and upstairs dining. The ceilings were high and they had large windows which made the place feel even bigger. You even have a beautiful view of the vineyards if you sit by the windows. I didn't try any of the food but I watched them make it and everything looked DELICIOUS!! My friends ate there and they said the food was incredible. We came back to Gervasi Vineyard for another quick getaway. On our last visit this restaurant was closed and so we were anxious to try it out. We stopped in for drinks and a light lunch. The restaurant is sleek and modern with a nice lounge feel. We sat at the bar as the weather wasn't nice enough to sit outside, which was a shame, as they have a beautiful outdoor seating area on the second floor. ( I guess we will need to come back!) Like the other restaurants at Gervasi, the cocktails were top notch. I had the walnut old fashioned which was very unique with the walnut liqueur and bitters. My wife had the Lush Blush martini made with rose vodka and strawberry purée -- very refreshing! For our lunch we had the meatball "spiedini" which are 3 meatballs served in their wonderful tomato sauce. (The sauce was so good we bought a bottle to take home.). My wife and I would frequent the Crush Hose at least twice per month. However, the last 2 times we have been here the service has been sub-par. We choose to sit at the bar and the bartenders spend a majority of their time talking with 1 or 2 other customers, ignoring everyone else. Often it appears to be friends. Today, the bartender cleaned the area around my wife but I sat for 20+ minutes before I asked him to clean the area in front me (food left by the previous customer). Also, the tonic water in my G&T was flat and basically just gin and water. If Gervasi wants to be an upscale bar and charge upscale prices for cocktails, then they should stop using tonic water from a "gun" and give customers a choice with Fever Tree in a bottle. Cocktails with tonic or soda water from a "gun" do not warrant the prices that Gervasi charges. Both my wife and I agree we will have second thoughts before returning to the Crush House. read more

We were seated quickly, but then waited over 10 minutes before anyone came to take our order. Seemed a little long considering the few people that were there. Great Meal Tainted by Greed Last night we had a really good meal and server at Gervasi Bistro Upscale Italian Dining. The wine I had was their own Riesling. It was just OK and the pour was kinda stingy. The main reason for 4 stars is because at the end of the meal they charged me 2.5% to use my credit card. So basically you charged me to get paid. The bill for 2 was $200.00 before the tip, and the couple we were with was about the same. This is not a cheap meal but you cheaped out and tainted the experience for a few extra bucks. Don't give me the excuse it's the new standard and you didn't want to raise your prices. The fee is a bank fee which means it's a 100% write off. This is not a struggling mom and pop establishment where a few bucks is critical. This is a thriving business with high end pricing. It's also a destination establishment and we drove an hour there and an hour back. The place was packed so don't cry poor. You played "save a nickel, lose a dollar" with us. Stupid move. P.S. We went to their gift shop, very nice! We wondered, if I buy something here will I be up-charge another 2.5%? read more

This was the first time at one of the Gervasi establishments for my wife and I. We stopped in at the Crush House, and weren't disappointed! Her martini was on point, and the craft beer I tried (Sawmill IPA) was refreshing as well. For an appetizer, we tried the crispy risotto cakes. Neither of us had had risotto before, so we weren't sure what to expect. The risotto cakes had just the right "crunch" on the outside, and were moist on the inside. The risotto itself wasn't particularly flavorful, but maybe that's normal, as again we had nothing to compare it to. Either way, this was a nice start to our meal. With our main dishes, we also ordered wedding soup. The soup was very flavorful and the chicken and tiny meatballs were excellent! The piece of Italian bread they serve with the soup was a nice touch. For our main courses, I ordered the beef gnocchi and my wife ordered the Greek orzo pasta. The gnocchi were very soft and tender, like mini pillows. The beef sauce was creamy and very flavorful, without overpowering the tender shredded beef. Mushrooms and caramelized onions completed this dish, which definitely met and exceeded my expectations. I was fortunate enough to also sample a couple forkfuls of my wife's orzo. The pasta was cooked perfectly, the Greek seasoning was used in just the right amount, and the sliced kalamata olives and fresh tomato really took the flavor over the top. For dessert, we ordered the chocolate torte to go. If it tastes as good as it looks, then we are in for another great treat. We came here on a recommendation from a friend and I'm so glad we did. My teenage daughter and I chose the Crush house to spend an "adult dinner" at her very last soccer tournament of her high school career. It did not disappoint!! There were 12 tables ahead of us when we checked in. THEY DO NOT DO CALL AHEAD OR RESERVATIONS. We headed to their "marketplace" and what a cool shop full of unique gifts. That blew some time until our table was ready. The whole campus is beautiful. I hope to come back with my husband and enjoy some of the places like the still. We ordered the bruschetta (awesome) and the goat cheese dip. I didn't want pita chips with the dip and they were happy to accommodate me with veggies instead and they were fresh and delicious. My daughter ordered the salmon and I ordered the NY Strip. Both were cooked to perfection!! The Cabernet in the bourbon barrel was delightful and I will be buying a bottle. My husband and I visited the Crush House during a night away stay at Gervasi Vineyards. We stopped in for lunch as well as a wine tasting later in the evening. Overall, we enjoyed our experience. For lunch we dined on the upper balcony/patio. Our server was lovely and attentive. Per her suggestion, we ordered the red pepper cheese dip for an appetizer. We were starving and demolished it! It was a nice appetizer, though a much more runny "dip" than I'm accustomed too. For our entrees, I ordered the crush house salad with chicken and my husband ordered the short rib gnocchi. He LOVED his dish. I on the other hand thought that my sals was a bit average. The dressing was very very runny and tasted almost as if someone just doused the bowl with vinegar. On the positive side, the serving size was on the larger side and the presentation was lovely. We returned to the Crush House later in the evening to enjoy a wine tasting. For a Wednesday evening, it was packed! With only one bartender/wine specialist working, our tasting was slightly choppy and involved some waiting.
