We came for dinner after spending the afternoon on Flowerpot Island. The restaurant is up a flight of stairs. The indoor and outdoor dining spaces were starting to fill up. We chose a booth around the corner from the bar. The issue with a more secluded area was that the server didn't come by as often. It took just a smidge longer to get the server's attention. As we weren't very hungry, we ordered the BBQ chicken pizza and a bowl of soup to share. The thin-crust pizza had an abundance of toppings and flavours and was very crisp. We came here on the recommendation of our B&B hosts. The Crowsnest Pub has seating indoors and outdoors. When we asked for outdoor seating, we were asked to wait outside by the parking lot while a spot opened up. We waited no more than 10 minutes. The tables in the outdoor patio are spaced sufficiently far away. The wait staff all wear masks and wipe down tables after guests leave to keep everyone safe. However, most guests that I observed were inconsiderate of the safety of staff. I ordered fish and chips. Funny enough, throughout the few days I was in Tobermory, I had fish and chips every single day. Of all the places where I ordered fish and chips, the fish and chips at the Crowsnest was the best. The pieces of white fish were thick and juicy while the batter was crispy and golden. Although there were many guests, the food came out quickly. First time visitors to Tobermory and came to the Crowsnest Pub on a recommendation from our hotel. First off the location is nice and convenient and the décor definitely matched the area (nautical themed). The service was good, we initially needed to wait for a patio seat but didn't wait very long. Even though we sat closer to the building the view from the railing was very nice. Our server was very nice and polite and for the most part attentive to our needs. The drinks were decent for what we got. Now the bad part. The food took a very long time to arrive to us (for what we ordered, two burgers and an order of fish and chips) and for lack of a better term was overall disgusting. The fish and chips appeared to have sat waiting to be delivered and was reheated in the fryer. The coating was rock hard. Luckily the coating was able to be cracked open to which the tasteless fish was able to be eaten. We didn't ask for replacement because we didn't want to wait another 45 minutes for it to be delivered. The burgers were some of the worse we ever ate. Cold and tasteless except for the BBQ sauce on one of them. Pretty sure it also made us sick. They did comp us for the fish and chips. We won't be back. read more

The Crowsnest Pub is a mainstay in Tobermory. This popular eatery when it opened on our Sunday visit had a waiting line coming from the next door grocery store, Foodland. They offered your simple meals to accompany their beer and draft offerings...typical of your local bar. We ordered salt and pepper wings and pepperoni and cheese pizza. Typical pub! We liked the fish and chips, jalapeño poppers, the salsa was pretty fresh as well. They had live music on Saturday and the band was really good. The best thing about this place is the patio which is quit pleasant as long as the smokers aren't at the back door doing what they do best. The service was great - we had a pleasant and attentive waitress. The food is A-OK if uninspired - pretty sure the dressing on the garden salad is a popular off-the-shelf brand of Zesty Italian. If you like mainstream fare you may love this place. If you are food adventurous see if you can another place to eat. Big brewery beer offerings support the menu. One bright spot though - they do serve one Ontario microbrewery - Tobermory Brewing Co. I'm so glad this place was open admist of the pandemic. We were visiting Tobermory for the first time and this was the last day before ontario lockdown again. We had so much fun eating out after sooo long. It feels different now. This place has mostly bar food. We also ordered salad. Everything was fresh. Crew was super helpful and friendly. I think everyone were happy to be outside even if it was for a short time. They all follow social distancing rules. Not all tables were full. Place was clean. We had a wonderful time. Terrible experience, from top to bottom. We waited for our food for 45 minutes. When it arrived it was cold. I ordered the fish and chips. The dish is supposed to come with a coleslaw. When the server brought the dish to the table (after 45 minutes) she just said "we are out of coleslaw"... She didn't offer me a substitute, or a different dish. When you are eating here, a touristy place that mostly operates in the summer, you understand you are paying a premium for the location and the seasonal service, and likely the best chef doesn't work here. I appreciate how this place is still open on a September Friday night at 9pm. The two of us ordered a soup and a large pizza. Server was friendly. Food got here fast. The food was okay, overpriced but that's because it is a tourist town. This is the only place that is open until late and serves food (so there truly aren't any options left). We had a terrible server, she was disinterested in serving us. She had a group of friends sitting next to us which she was definitely more interested in. She was sitting down, eating and doing shots with them. Every time she returned to our table, she had an attitude. No silverware or water given - we had to get our own. We requested a new server but somehow she returned to our table. We told her we didn't appreciate her attitude and would like a new server. I suppose she went crying to the manager. Long story short, the owner got into a heated discussion with my boyfriend and somehow we were at the wrong. We were told never to return because we mistreated her server. White on vacation in Northern Bruce Peninsula, Ontario my family and I stopped in to the Crowsnest Pub in Tobermory for lunch. Many of the other local restaurants in this tourist town were closed on our Monday afternoon visit. Crowsnest was already on my list for its good view of the harbor, but the weather wasn't the best so we opted to sit inside. We were one of just a handful of occupied tables in the spacious dining room capable of holding a number of summer tourists during the peak season. Crowsnest offers a pub style menu full of sandwich, burger, salad, and fish options. A kids menu is also available though ours decided to share a small plain pizza ($12.49) which was plenty for their little stomachs with a couple of slices left to take home. I went with the buffalo chicken sandwich topped with a choice of eight sauces along with lettuce, tomato, onion, and pickle ($11.99). This was served with a choice of fries of homemade potato chips. The medium sauce was not very spicy, I should have went with a more bold selection. That said the sandwich was coated well with sauce and tasted great. The chips were also good, though a touch on the burnt side. My wife went with the local beer battered whitefish and chips, served with coleslaw, tartar sauce, and lemon ($12.99). I did not try the fish though my wife had positive things to say about it. Typically she only eats fish when dining near a body of water, and this did not disappoint. The beer selection is mostly dominated by Sapporo owned Sleeman Brewery, none of which are particularly interesting. During our visit the also had Okanagan Spring Pale Ale from British Columia, which was a better choice overall. Unibroue Blanche De Chambly is the best choice. read more

We arrived around 4PM before the dinner crowd and the place is almost empty. Right away, I noticed an issue with cleanliness as there are little spiderwebs up on the ceiling, by the windows very close to the seats, and including the tray that holds the condiments on the table we chose (booth). There was a tiny spider on its web connecting from the condiment basket to the wall. Eek! Anyways, maybe the spiderweb's there because not a lot of people use the booths inside? You go there for the patio I guess. When we came at 4pm everyone else was sitting outside so after seeing the spiderweb I decided to move to the patio. There are no spiderwebs, but you get the crazy seagulls and flies instead. Awesome. Regarding the food, I got the veggie burger with fries for $8.99. A little overpriced, but the quality is just OK. My BF saw a sign with a chicken wings special which is 2 lbs for $17 and we thought it was a deal so we ordered that. Chicken wings are great though. Not very thin skin, they are fried just perfect, the inside meat is juicy, and the skin is crunchy. So yes I would suggest getting the chicken wings special. Service did get very slow after the dinner crowd came around 5PM and there was really only one server taking orders and another lady was only cleaning tables. I waited so long for my bill and I got really antsy to go, that I thought they may have forgotten about us. So over-all I would recommend going and trying their chicken wing special, and since there is not a lot of options in the area, this might just do the job. read more

This place was the best restaurant (hands down) that we ate at Tobermory. I ordered their vegetarian pizza, so yummy! The service was also super friendly. It was really busy the day we went, and the staff were trying to accommodate the insane turn over of clients. The only downside is that we didn't have our own ketchup bottle (I think they ran out), but that is super petty and doesn't really impact overall experience. Would go back next time I am in Tobermory. FYI- fish and chips (my partner had this) was okay, decent but not outstanding. Good for the price though. read more

Whatever brings you to this end of the Bruce Peninsula, you'd probably soon find out there are so few eat-out options in tiny Tobermory, despite the tourist economy. And most of them offer a variation of fish and chips, all claiming to feature local Georgian Bay whitefish. Maybe you will be tempted to turn your visit into a contest to find the best fish 'n chip in town, but that soon gets boring and expensive--there are better things to do here than that ya know (azure Great Lakes shores are calling). The Crowsnest Pub is a pretty big and nicely finished rebuilt locals hangout that's not hard to miss when entering Little Tub Harbour straight from the highway (and right next door to the town's only supermarket). A decent atmosphere, they even have a large outdoor deck overlooking the harbour. A few big screen TVs throughout the establishment allows us to feel like I'm back home catching up on World Series action or another Maple Leafs loss with a few beers. Oh yes the beers, to which they have surprisingly a decent selection including Okanagan Spring (a lot more and better stuff than what you'll find the Shoeless Joe's chain offers, that's for sure). Nothing to rave greatly about generally of their menu: typical sports bar food with typical pub food quality, with prices on par with many Toronto upscale diners that reflect the town's few options, distance and seasonality. I will say this of their ($12.99) white-fish and chips: it is the most decent out of the couple others I did try in town. The fish is fluffy and done in a crispy batter. Fries however, soggy definitely-from-frozen meh. But holy hell were they long-I never knew potatoes can come in the size of dinner plates! Overall for what it's worth, Crownest seems like a decent place to go and feed yourself some local flavour if you got an evening to kill. read more

Despite reading the poor reviews we decided to check this place out since it was open later than most in the area and had a nice view of the port. Service was great and staff were very friendly. The food was delicious. Highly recommend their cauliflower bites. We also liked that it had more vegetarian friendly options than the other restaurants in the area. Subpar quality and experience. We were up here a couple months ago and wanted to stop by one of the local restaurants for lunch before heading back to Toronto. There's not many options to choose from, so we went with this place, which had the most crowd and largest seating area. It looked the most modern from the outside as well. We were kind of in a rush, and let the waitress know this before we placed our orders, but the food still took forever (just ordered a burger and fish & chips). We waited about 10 minutes from when we first sat down for someone to come over to our table to even take our order for drinks. By the sound of this, you're probably thinking this place was extremely busy... but it wasn't! It was a bit busy since it was later in the afternoon, but they had quite a few waiters to help with the crowd, so the wait time was unacceptable. Next we go onto the quality of food - it was not great. The burger tasted bland and dry, the fish was OK, and the fries were cut too thick. We didn't enjoy any part of this meal. We have not visited The Crowsnest since it rebuilt from the devastating fire, but when we had our cottage trip last year, this was one of the first places we ate. To no ones surprise, they have burgers, fish n' chips, and beer like any pub. The fish is, of course, the local White Fish. The burger and fries were good, and the fish was okay.. a bit on the cold side, and more batter than fish. Prices at The Crowsnest reflect the few choices available in town, as they're a bit on the expensive side for what you'll be served. Service is friendly and with a smile however, and eating out on the patio deck in the cool spring breeze was nice. When we make the trip up to Tobermory again, I look forward to checking out the rebuilt Crowsnest. read more

Restaurant was fairly dirty and service was extremely slow. We had to ask a server to clean off one of the booths so we could sit down. Took about 10 minutes for them to give us menus and another 15 to take our order. We got glasses of water to start which i do not recommend because it was filthy and tasted very bad and left a thick coating in our mouths. Waitress was nice 0.5 stars, she had blonde hair. The food was good, which was another 0.5 star. Now this next part isn't the fault of my waitress but my friend and I wanted refills and my boyfriend kept waving his hand when a middle aged woman, who wasn't wearing a uniform with red-brown (auburn kind of?) glanced at our table with his hand up and she just looked away and walked away. She didn't bother to come to us. She saw his hand and they made eye contact but it seems she had no interest in even asking us who our waitress is or whatever. Food is good but service is lacking. I wonder why? Anyways, she won't ruin my first trip to Tobermory but whoever she is, she needs to learn a bit more about customer service.
