Could be a really cool spot right on the Ohio river. This is a fun bar in the summer (I celebrated my 21st birthday here actually!). Drinks and food used to be really reasonably priced, but have definitely skyrocketed since covid. They used to have dinner but it looks like it has been taken off the menu, probably due to food and staff shortages. The other food used to be pretty good, but I've heard bad things recently. I would come here and hang out for a drink but maybe skip the food. Service has always been slow here, even long before the pandemic, and the two times I have been here since covid it has definitely been even slower paced. read more

We sat on the outside patio on a Sunday afternoon, it was warm, but the sun was beautiful and bright. We had a party of five and we all ordered and we received our food in a timely fashion. Georgie was our amazing waitress and brought our food. I questioned visiting here and ordering off the menu after reading some of the other reviews however I can tell you that I got the steak hoagie the full size and I've never had a hoagie so big. I have been coming to crocked dock for years and I am disappointed my last two adventures there. The food used to be so huge, and prices were pretty good, however recently they raised their prices on most items by 3-4 dollars each. Which isn't too bad in the grand scheme, but to pay 17$ for a hoagie is a little crazy (and they don't give you fries on the side). A huge word of caution is the water/tea basically anything made with tap water is undrinkable. It tastes like chew spit. So definitely order a bottled beverage. Another issue we had was the food took about 1.5hrs, normally this wouldn't be a super issue we were with 4 other people and it was a little busy, but others got their food prior to us even if they sat down after us, which was a huge disappointment to see. I really wish they would turn this place around because I want to love it, and I did previously. I've been here twice now while on vacation since I have family near by. The first time we ordered steaks since they were on special, 3 of us had to send ours back as they were severely well done when we all ordered medium. Not only that, the wait for food was sooooo long. The second time again the wait for our food was so long, customer service was really lacking. We went for lunch, I ordered the fish and chips special, my boyfriend ordered the Italian hoagie, kids ordered hot dog, grilled cheese, hoagie, and wings. We were there for 1 hour and 45 minutes. This is too long for a lunch. The ONLY reason I'm giving them 2 stars is because of their epic proportions. They're so large. Order food and split it. If you order salad you can split with 4 people. Looking at the reviews, it seems as though everyone has had the same terrible experiences. I've gone here 3 times... terrible service. Nasty attitudes - waitresses, big bald guy who must be the manager, had no personality or care for our business. We asked if they had any more umbrellas for the deck and they said no. We asked how long the wait for an inside table would be and the guy and smaller blonde waitress just simply said "we don't know" ... so we sat in the sun on the deck and I personally moved an umbrella to our table. 20 minute wait for service and drinks. 45 minute wait for food. They "overlooked" my order so I had to wait another 10 minutes for my simple chicken salad. Of course they don't care to be personable or even KIND because they're going to get business, regardless. Let's start where they can improve. It's a little odd to walk into a place where they have a huge sign that says no weapons, no outside alcohol and no colors. So, I'm guessing this can turn into a dive/biker bar real quick. Our waitress was a bit strange. She was nice enough, but quirky. We asked about the beer selections. We were told that it was extensive. So we asked for list. We were told there wasn't one. Asked what IPAs they had and she said they had one and it wasn't very good. So I don't think I would call that an extensive list. And we had to just guess at our options. They really should have a list. That's ridiculous. They also don't want you to make any substitutions. So we thought we may get pushback for subbing out American cheese on the mushroom Swiss burger. Our waitress got them to do it, but it's weird that they are so hardcore about it. It was also during covid and none of the staff had on masks. Yes, we were outside. But it would've been more comfortable if they looked like they were being careful. But the cons ended there. The pros? We had a larger crowd so we ordered the sweet potato fries, zucchini planks and the peel and eat shrimp for appetizers. All were really good. We had the hangover burger, garlic and parm wings, mushroom American cheese burger, italian sub and the turkey club. All were really good. The fries were absolutely delicious. Beer is always expired and when you say something about they give you an attitude, food is cold and terrible, service is slow. I have been there 3 or 4 times and it's always the same. Horrible food. Food is super greasy and it tastes like they don't ever change the grease. Trust me your stomach will hate you for days to come. Also, the "big" salads....they're all lettuce and the "big" subs....they're all bread. My husband got a philly steak and it was steak em's from Kroger. Plus, it takes FOREVER to get waited on. They actually have a sign that says if you haven't been waited on to notify management. And if you complain about the wait or not getting your food....you'll get told to leave! Have been going there for years and we've always loved it but NO MORE! Went there for lunch with my husband and we were told to seat ourselves which was not a big deal, nobody was in the seating area. Due to COVID we could either eat outside or an inside area that was still completely open. I understand that there are COVID restrictions so we wore our masks in but not one staff member was wearing one! To make matters worse, through the openness, birds were walking all over the floor and we even saw a few on chairs. Talk about unsanitary! The Dock is a place that you go, if you want to EAT ! Portions are huge and the food tastes great. Crab stuffed shrimp is excellent. Cajun shrimp pasta is delicious. For the kids, they have chicken fries - yes I said chicken fries !! Great views on the water, a sand volley court out back and plenty of deck space that opens up when the weather is nice. When reading other reviews, most people rave about the huge portions. So,I ordered a chicken salad and I must say it was HUGE. However, it was the worst salad I have ever eaten in my life. It was a HUGE bowl of iceberg lettuce and not much else. Enough lettuce to feed a family of four. The view of the Ohio River is fantastic and their outdoor deck is clean and spacious. How amazing is the Crooked Dock! It's everything you need in "bar food" without a bar atmosphere (unless that's what you want, and if so, the bar portion is very nice as well). First of all, the setting is beautiful. There is a fantastic river view year round, and in the summer, it's accessible by boat. There's an enormous deck overlooking a beach volleyball court as well a very fun outside bar. As nice as the view is, the food is what keeps us coming back. This is nothing-fancy fried food done super well. Don't leave without trying the cod nuggets or the Contraband Fries. Both offer enormous portions for a very reasonable price. Subs are ENORMOUS! I recommend the half portion unless you are eating for a family of four. Wings rival the more famous (and this more crowded) Drover's Inn. To round out my Crooked Dock love, the servers have always been super friendly, and the bathrooms are cleaner than mine at home. Seriously, don't miss an opportunity to eat here. read more

I ordered a fish sandwich and it taste like it was freezer burned or maybe it was the sauce that they put on it, but it had a disgusting after taste. I tried a bite of my daughters fried chicken sandwich and it had that same nasty after taste. She didn't like her sandwich either. If it was the sauce they need to serve the sandwich dry with the sauce on the side. Otherwise, they were both freezer burnt. The coleslaw was just meh. My husband had the Rueben and it was but better but still not something he would order again. His fries were ok. Good thing we ordered the onion rings as we all would have starved. This review is months late because I just started contributing to Yelp after having felt guilty about all the reviews I had been reading and taking into consideration while contributing none of my own. I came here on a Sunday evening, end of the summer season. It may have even been early fall. I sat out on the deck near the newly constructed bar. I was with two other people. We ordered the "contraband fries" to share as it seems you can never go wrong with cheese and bacon on fries. Well, these disappointed. They lacked flavor and they were semi-warm and didn't have much bacon on them. I decided to go with a Philly cheesesteak hoagie, the large order. I think I remember these sandwiches being some odd size, like 13-15" in length. Regardless, it came out piping hot, dripping with cheese and the bread was perfectly toasted. I do seem to remember mayonnaise coming with it, but it was in a packet on the side. No complaints here. I will make another trip here in the summer of this year. Huge portions and when I say huge, one item in this menu can feed an entire family. Try the titanic sandwich. So awesome and delicious loaded like a Primantis sub. The salads are so big the bowl is the size of all you can eat salad at Olive Garden but to yourself.
