One thing to check is whether they are allowing anyone to smoke. The waiter said when its busy they don't allow it but I would always double check as this indicates it is sometimes allowed. I had oysters to start. I asked for half normal and half grilled with parmesan and breadcrumbs off their menu they were happy to accommodate. The grilled oysters were great and definitely worth a go. For my main it was steak with shrimp in a garlic butter. Cooked to medium rare. The quality of the steak was nothing to go wild about but for what I paid (around £20) the quality felt about right. I also ordered the hand cut chips (they brought me the frozen ones though and had to wait quite a while to get corrected but they did apologise and gave me my second glass of wine free (£7) which I appreciated). When I got the chips they were pretty good. I also ordered spinach as a side dish. This was bland. It was literally just cooked spinach without any seasoning or extra ingredients. Avoid. For dessert I had the sticky toffee pudding with ice cream. The ice cream was excellent and think if I go back I'll just have that as the sticky toffee and cake was ok but nothing to rave about. All in all worth a visit for the atmosphere and the view. I think if I came back though I would probably stick more with the seafood option as from the other tables were being served and what my friend had this looks a much better option.

Most of the guests are in the late 40s and above and dressed slightly dressier than casual. Lots of seafood to choose from. The mussels were especially good.

There are not many restaurants where I want to order everything on the menu. This is one of them…read more First of all, they are Michelin rated. A Michelin Star is awarded to restaurants offering outstanding cooking. They take into account five universal criteria: the quality of the ingredients, the harmony of flavors, the mastery of techniques, the personality of the chef as expressed through their cuisine and, just as importantly, consistency both across the entire menu and over time. At the edge of Guernsey as you come off the ship Pier 17sets. The menu is mostly locally sourced seafood, vegetables, meats and dairy. The seafood is outstanding Started with a creamy lobster bisque. This was built up and served in a large bowl. Don't expect huge chunks of lobster meat. The bisque stands on its own and has all the flavor you could want without filling you up. A perfect starter. The bread was soft and warm and served with a nice aioli and fresh creamery butter. I still can't say which I preferred but both were divine For my main I decided on a full lobster Thermidor. Cooked to perfection in a creamy mustard and cheese sauce with cream and hints of white wine. I have had lobster from all over the world: Maine, Canada, South Africa, Mexico, Ireland, England, Hong Kong, Florida, etc. this local lobster and the chef's preparation may be the very best I've ever had. It was served with arugula and a lovely little salad My wife had the Seamus Scallops which were great in their own right and a side of hand cut chips. Both were perfect We finished with local ice cream and berries They had a good selection of wines. I wasn't too sure on the whiskey and bourbon flavors and we were here half an hour before they actually opened but I had just been hit by a car so they let us in to have drinks. I polished off a few cans of Guinness An amazing meal to top off an interesting day. If you find yourself in Guernsey and want an amazing meal; Pier 17 and their warm and friendly staff receives my highest recommendation!
