My family and I came here for dinner tonight. We were in the mood for seafood. The restaurant itself is quite interesting. We assumed it was a regular seafood boil restaurant but there's more to it. The menu included Vietnamese dishes. I'm a sucker for both so I ordered a cluster of crab legs in the Cajun butter sauce and a bowl of phó. The pho was fantastic! It was piping hot with plenty of meat on top. The broth was rich in color and taste. The noodles were just perfect, but to overcooked and mushy. The crab was drenched in the garlic butter sauce. It has the right amount of kick to it! The crab was cleaned and cooked perfectly. The meat just came out of the shell with ease. I really would have liked my potatoes to have been cooked more throughly, they were still hard in the middle. Overall it was a great meal to have during my visit in this great state of Georgia. read more

Hands down the best Vietnamese spot in Athens. The Pho broth is so on point and quality is beyond excellent. We love how they pay attention to smaller things like pickled cabbage on the rice plate or little fat chunks on Chicken Pho. Totally love it and would 1000% recommend. read more

The setting was very neat and clean. Our waitress was very attentive and also gave helpful recommendations. The food came out hot and crispy in filling portions. The catfish paired perfectly with some tartar sauce and the shrimp batter was perfectly seasoned. The noodles were slightly undercooked and could have used more sauce, but they did the job. I will definitely be back for my next seafood kick. read more

My first time coming here, the staff is very attentive and friendly. The Bun Bo Hue did not disappoint! Authentic Vietnamese food, reminds me of my mothers cooking. Owner guy was helpful but not at the same time, had me order through this aggressive brunette, ordered a combo plate tilapia and popcorn shrimp, the portion of fish was fire only gave me 8 shrimp, the breading was on point but lacked flavor! My husband went here and got us dinner. He check the food before he left. The boil bags looked good from the outside but wait ... He ordered popcorn shrimp for our two year old. Instead he got chop alligator meat. He informed them and they fixed it. He couldn't open the boiled bags until he got home everything looked great on the outside but, when I busted open my crab boil bag I was totally disappointed. No crab legs just the hard empty claws. It was like it was put together from scraps ! And don't get me started with the potatoes I had a whole rotten potato in my bag. sooo... a boil bag with extra ROTTEN potatoes you charged 4+ dollars for. crab legs 20+ dollars with NO CRAB LEGS is CRAZY. & they didn't look clean. Come here for the Phò. Best in Athens, hands down. It was our first visit, but I was intrigued by the Vietnamese food advertised on the window and Reddit recommendations. My husband got a fried seafood platter and he said it was fine but he'd get Phò next time. He had to ask after his hush puppies a couple of times, but other than that, the service was good. We had the red snapper basket and scallops baskets with slaw. The snapper and scallops were over breaded and over cooked to be quite tough. The slaw was delicious. Hush puppies were bland and tough. Go here for the Vietnamese Pho which we have found to be wonderful in the past. New management does not source jumbo shrimp as in the past and their ability to cook fish and scallops leaves a lot to be desired. Service was friendly and quite proper. I asked for a Cajun flavored shrimp basket, but was told the only way to get Cajun flavored items was if I ordered from the boiled seafood selection. I just wanted the shrimp to have some flavoring and heat to them. I thought the flavoring of the fried shrimp was bland and was probably fried in the same fryer as their french fries and any other fried foods. But they were jumbo-sized shrimp, so the portion size was good. The hush puppies were the smallest I've ever seen, not much bigger than a piece of fried okra. The staff were very nice and the food was brought out promptly. It was hot, and appeared to be freshly made, except for the clam chowder. The chowder was just okay, and the two packs of crackers were very stale (inedible). The restaurant was clean, in a good location, and appears to be under new management, but we were the only two customers during the hour we were there, which was dinner time on a weekday evening. I'm sure it is hard running a new restaurant (or one under new management). Hopefully their business picks up and they can improve on these small things. read more

Ecstatic that an authentic Pho place is open on the eastside. We had chicken pho and short rib and pork and chicken vermicelli bun (noodle) and all were spot on. Homemade kim chi unusually sour and good. All served with fresh salads of cucumber, carrot and lettuce. Homezade fish sauce.?They still have the old crab hut franchise menu which feels...odd. But they are hedging their bets. So go enjoy Vietnamese and help them decide to rename the place. Head and shoulders above Choo Choo for freshness and flavor profile. Service good. I usually love Crab Hut. I've been going here for years, since they had their location near West Athens. However, the past few times I have ordered have been utterly disappointing. I ordered a to-go meal a couple months ago, however the crab cluster was old and tasted very bad. Therefore, I decided to go back in-person this past week and got the Shiver Me Timbers boil. It was a complete waste of $40 as the shrimp was the only meat that seemed fresh. The crab legs and crawfish tasted very old and most of the clams were empty upon arrival to the table. The restaurant was empty so we were seated fast. However, the booth seats were dirty with crumbs, along with the adjacent windows having caked up dirt in them. I am not sure if I'll be able to continue as a customer of Crab Hut until they start taking quality and ambience of the place a bit more seriously. My waiter was extremely nice! Still love the restaurant concept, it just needs to be cleaner and have fresh seafood instead of old, because the change in flavor is extremely distinct. read more

Dry disappointed. I order the lobster tail oil and it was over cooked and it tasted spoiled. It was beyond just the fishy taste you some times get. My husband order the alligator tail and it was okay but it was over cooked. I told them about the lobster but they only gave a small discount because of it. I don't feel like they took me serious about the lobster which really concerns me. read more

Both service and food were excellent. We sampled catfish, tilapia, red snapper, flounder, and chicken. All were wonderful.

Under new management the sea food is much fresher. High recommend this place. Thank you so much
