I like a balance between play and learning and I feel Bloom gets this right. Bonus: my daughter brings home adorable crafts matching the weekly theme. My daughter attended during the 2020-21 school year. The owner Stacy told me at the tour that she was going to try and find a transparent shield for her face so she could pull down her mask and smile at the kids. She couldn't imagine not being able to show the kids facial expression. **Okay, I don't know about you, but this is exactly the kind of teacher I want for my child. One that sincerely cares about the emotional and social development of her students. ** She would give the parents periodic updates regarding Covid safety rules but she didn't ever appeared frazzled by the changing protocol of Covid mandates. There was one Covid exposure risk during the year and Stacy did a A+ job of informing us and keeping us safe with an appropriate closure and re-opening. Honestly, Bloom was a major "silver lining" for an otherwise CHALLENGING year. I'm so grateful to Stacy, Nicole, and Amber for a fantastic first year of preschool. I am now counting the days till summer vacation is over and school starts back up!

The West Seattle location had availability and confirmed my reservation. On the day of the reservation, when I was getting ready for dropping off my daughter, I got a call from the West Seattle location and they told me that they have no space for my daughter even though they had given me a confirmation earlier. This is not an isolated incident. The same thing happened to me 2 days later. And I had to run around at the last minute to find a daycare option for my daughter. The people working at Bright Horizons West Seattle don't even have the basic decency to give you a heads up 1 or 2 days earlier to let you know that they don't have space for you! I would recommend everyone to stay away from this location due to terribly incompetent management here.

Sadly, our actual experience was far from what was advertised. From the beginning, we faced repeated challenges with understaffing, unclear expectations, and inconsistent communication. As caregiver volunteers, we often found ourselves performing janitorial work and covering critical supervision gaps with little support. These staffing issues culminated in a deeply troubling incident where our child was denied access to the bathroom during recess due to a lack of available adults -- resulting in a completely avoidable and traumatic accident. When we tried to address this respectfully with the teacher, we were shut out. Despite multiple attempts to reconcile, we were denied a conversation and told we could no longer volunteer in the classroom -- a painful blow, especially for a school that claims to value cooperative engagement. Even more disappointing was the school's failure to follow the very standards and principles it promotes. The leadership later acknowledged, in writing, that they lacked clear policies around volunteering, communication, and accountability. While they publicly promised relationship repair and structural improvements, none of those efforts were ever extended to our family. Out of concern for our children's well-being, we made the difficult decision to withdraw them from the classroom on most days and pay out of pocket for private tutoring to ensure continuity in their education. We sincerely hope The Bridge School takes its own commitments seriously moving forward -- but families deserve a school that operates with transparency, safety, and follow-through. Toddlers even get the opportunity to care for a garden; they can dig, water, weed and eat as they please. In fact, my 2 year-old considers herself a gardening pro after just a couple of months under teachers Boo and Eric. Only about 30+ families total are enrolled and their photos grace the walls. In fact, many of the comforts you'd expect when dropping kids off with family are present here: you can never be late, every child is seen, valued and respected, snuggles are always welcome and students are taught to be a good friend to others. It's no surprise the owners have adopted three out of four of their daughters; they know what it takes to turn strangers into a family. They were okay letting me come visit whenever, and even invited parents in for story time. They helped her gain some independence with napping and bottles as well. Of course after covid, parents can't go into the classroom but I'm sure it will be back to normal eventually. Ms Denise is the nicest teacher and really made our family feel connected. Also, since my daughter was out of daycare for a few months, when she came back and transitioned to the waddler room Ms Denise made her a memory book of her first year with photos and art projects! It was so nice that she did that even though our daughter missed a couple months! Waddler room teachers are also great! Our daughter was always super happy when we picked her up and they did a lot of fun activities. Overall the curriculum is great- safe space for kids to move with lots of music and art throughout the day. They have themes and vocabulary lessons too. We moved to a daycare next to our house since we no longer commute downtown but will always love KinderCare for helping us get through the first year!!!
