What really makes SLC special is how personal it feels. It's a close-knit group of teachers where you actually know everyone -- not a big, impersonal center. That warmth shows in everything they do. The activities are engaging and thoughtful, and even now our kids keep asking if they can go back and visit their teachers. We're very grateful for our time there and highly recommend it.

The parents of the center have a WhatsApp group to keep in touch as a community and share events, reminders, etc. The space is optimized to fit the multiple activities for the kids - sensory, reading/circle time, music class (in Spanish & Mandarin!), gymnastics, etc. They even added soccer as an option. Not to mention the gorgeous, covered outdoor space for the kids. As I'm looking for a new daycare I'm just devastated that none on the east side offers nearly 75% of what WorldKids Fremont offers. Because of everything - especially teachers Magdalena, Lorena, and Suly, my daughter has flourished in her independence, confidence, and speech. What an incredible place and I'm truly sad to leave.

But my outgoing and independent kid also declared it the "best school ever" and wishes we could go every day. The range of activities for kids to do keeps them thoroughly engaged as they play and learn. There is a great balance of free play time, outdoor time, and more structured circle time. Snack is also done in a way that lets kids be independent while getting the support they need. And often there is a 'cooking snack' that they get to participate in preparing - they love that! I'm always amazed by how creative and fun the activities are. It's never just pages photocopied out of a coloring book. And there is always something new to try. I'm not sure how they come up with all their ideas but I'm sure glad they get to do all those cool messy things at school and I don't have to do them at home! The best part of coop are the teachers and parent educators. You see right away that this is a passion for them, not just a job. The kids and parents immediately feel that they care about them and that they are in a supportive, safe environment. Coop follows a positive discipline method that gently guides kids to expected behaviors in a way that is always developmentally appropriate. Teacher Christi is an actual child whisperer. She leads them effortlessly and cheerfully, never raising her voice or showing any signs of irritation. She is endlessly patient and understanding and manages to be simultaneously sweet and firm when it's necessary. I honestly wish she could be my kids' teacher for as long as they're in school! I think I am a better parent for having been in coop with my kids. The teachers, along with the parent educators are there for us as well - not just the kids. It is truly a learning experience for all involved and provides a rich community that is supportive and caring. I recommend this coop to anyone with kids this age!

She reads in both Spanish and English and sometimes when she can't figure out a word in English because it's not spelled they way it's pronounced she looks at the Spanish and figures it out. I love that the student population is diverse and her teachers come from all parts of Central and South America and bring their culture into the classroom. The teachers are wonderful and my child is known and looked out for by everyone, whether they are her teacher or not. I truly look forward to the bilingual and multicultural education she will continue to have there. This kind of education is not available elsewhere in Seattle. I first learned about Amistad when I was chatting with a friend at the playground when our kids were just 3 and 4 years old. I was stressing out about how to get my child a bilingual education when I don't live in the geozone for one of the international schools (which are not immersion programs like Amistad anyway). Another parent overheard our conversation and felt compelled to jump in to say that his kids went to Seattle Amistad School and that if I wanted my daughter to have a bilingual education in a school run mostly by strong women of color I should look into Amistad. So I did! And I've been happy with the experience my daughter has had so far and look forward to continuing her education there.
