The room was dark and depressing. The teacher sat in her corner knitting. Way to help educate the kids!!!!! I would be so upset if one of my employees I was paying just sat In a corner knitting. None of the kids interacting w my daughter and when she tries to interact with them they were rude to her and didn't wanna play with her. This was my first red flag. Off to the next room. The teachers were warm and welcoming. The kids picked up that vibe and were very sweet. Second red flag- we all went to the bathroom. I went in with my daughter. All the kids pee in the same room with toilets lined up. For whatever reason, I was allowed into this area and should not have been. I was exposed to all of the kids private parts. I could have been anyone in this room with the kids. Had this been my child and other random people in there watching my kid pee, i would have been really upset. Kids were getting toilet paper all over the place and laying on toilets. It was gross. And there was no teacher in there to help. Maybe I'm more old fashioned but I think boys and girls need separate facilities and same gender teachers assisting if possible. Then another red flag. A girl needed to change her dress cause it got wet in the classroom. There's a male and female teacher. The male teacher left the room with her to change her clothes. Again, it should be the female if possible. And my final concern. The final room had a teacher who could barely get off her chair to help the kids. this is a huge disadvantage and. It was such a hinderance that it made it so she couldn't properly care for the children.

SELC A1 was so helpful in doing a slow transition to the toddler room, which was a bit overwhelming for our daughter at the beginning. She warmed up to it and now loves it. The staff seem to genuinely like the kiddos and enjoy their jobs. They do fun activities with the kids and take them outside quite a bit. We get lots of great updates throughout the day and the teachers are always happy to chat at drop-off and pick-up. The kids all seem happy, too. There are lots of smiling happy faces in pictures. Though I don't have a lot of experience with other daycares, SELC A1 feels very organized and the communication is great, which I really appreciate. It was something I noted from the very beginning of our search. It feels like everyone is paying attention and doing their best to provide quality care and service. Daycare everywhere is expensive; SELC A1 is worth the cost---good staff, happy kiddos--what more could you want.

The Procare app is awesome for 2-way communication between teachers/parents and provides a glimpse into the kid's day with pictures/videos/text updates. The center provides meals (breakfast and lunch) and an afternoon snack. The facility also has two outdoor play spaces, one of which is covered. All in all, a great option in West Seattle

I gave the school a call and this school was the only school that answered me with an actual person on the call (not some machine). The teacher over the phone was so informative and stated that I can visit the school. The tour was done the same week of calling and my son loved it. He didn't even want to leave. He felt so comfortable there even though he had never been out of our sights. I would recommend parents to give this preschool a chance! Every teacher had their own age they teach and a set curriculum. It was clear from the start what they do with the kids.

The Bridge School - Seattle, WA…read more Our family joined The Bridge School with a deep belief in its mission: a cooperative learning environment grounded in restorative justice, clear communication, and community involvement. Sadly, our actual experience was far from what was advertised. From the beginning, we faced repeated challenges with understaffing, unclear expectations, and inconsistent communication. As caregiver volunteers, we often found ourselves performing janitorial work and covering critical supervision gaps with little support. These staffing issues culminated in a deeply troubling incident where our child was denied access to the bathroom during recess due to a lack of available adults -- resulting in a completely avoidable and traumatic accident. When we tried to address this respectfully with the teacher, we were shut out. Despite multiple attempts to reconcile, we were denied a conversation and told we could no longer volunteer in the classroom -- a painful blow, especially for a school that claims to value cooperative engagement. Even more disappointing was the school's failure to follow the very standards and principles it promotes. The leadership later acknowledged, in writing, that they lacked clear policies around volunteering, communication, and accountability. While they publicly promised relationship repair and structural improvements, none of those efforts were ever extended to our family. Out of concern for our children's well-being, we made the difficult decision to withdraw them from the classroom on most days and pay out of pocket for private tutoring to ensure continuity in their education. We sincerely hope The Bridge School takes its own commitments seriously moving forward -- but families deserve a school that operates with transparency, safety, and follow-through. I was immediately impressed with the natural lighting, reggio inspired philosophy and loved that my child would have access to learning a second language without full blown immersion. The teachers were just as warm and attentive on the last day of school as the first. Very high quality facility. In fact, my daughter is now in second grade and my son is attending SWEL for preschool, camp and Pre-K this year and next!
